Last night The Island featured the brand new music video for Richard Marx’s Another One Down the first single for his forthcoming untitled (at the time)studio album which was being advertised for a fall 2019 release. As the old saying goes – what a difference a day can make. The album title and release date have now been officially confirmed as well asthe debut ofanother single launching on to the inter-web.

Today, Richard Marx announces his new album ‘Limitless,’ out February 7th 2020 on BMG. ‘Limitless’ is Richard’s first album of original songs in six years, as well as his first new release for BMG. Produced in part by Richard and featuring co-writes with Sara Bareilles, Richard’s son Lucas Marx and his wife Daisy Fuentes, ‘Limitless’ represents a new beginning for the celebrated singer-songwriter. While his last album ‘Beautiful Goodbye’ closed the book on one chapter of Richard’s life, ‘Limitless’ opens a new one. After falling back in love, remarrying and settling into a new home in LA, “I’ve never felt so intrinsically strong and optimistic about my future,” Richard says, and the bright, heartfelt pop of ‘Limitless’ reflects that feeling.
The announcement arrives as Richard’s latest single “Another One Down” spends its 6th week in the top 15 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Richard co-wrote “Another One Down” with his son Lucas, which he called a “joyful” experience.
Richard has also released a new song from ‘Limitless’ entitled “Let Go.” Co-written with Daisy Fuentes, and co-produced by Richard himself and Morgan Page (deadmau5), “Let Go” is a driving track about the freedom of new beginnings. “It reflects the way I feel about my life these days,” Richard says.

“I wasn’t really sure what making a new album meant for an artist like me,” Richard says of the creative process behind ‘Limitless.’ “All I knew was that I still write songs all the time and I realized I had a collection of songs I really liked. In my past, my only criteria was to write and record songs that pleased me, and hopefully other people would like them, too. So I returned to that ideology and dismissed any concerns of stylistic consistency and the next thing I knew, I had recorded a diverse album I really liked.”
Shortly after signing with BMG earlier this year, the label celebrated the 30th anniversary of his breakout album ‘Repeat Offender’ by releasing ‘Repeat Offender Revisited,’ a compilation of brand new live and acoustic versions of songs from the original album, including his hit song “Right Here Waiting.”
Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, won a GRAMMY, and remains the only male artist in history whose first seven singles reached the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. In addition to being a musician, Richard is a committed philanthropist. His charitable causes include the American Cancer Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities, and he supports Mercy For Animals, ASPCA, Humane Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

After the show we went back to say goodbye to Eddie when my buddy Bill Moesta noticed this notepad sitting there…Eddie left and I told Bill to grab the lyrics. We had totally forgotten about them until Bill found them in his basement.”
The iconic 80s/90s hit maker offered a first glimpse of new material, his first since 2014’s Beautiful Goodbye, earlier this summer. Another One Down incorporates several contemporary elements before launching into an absolutely massive chorus that fits right in with classics the likes of Endless Summer Nights, Right Here Waiting and Hold On To The Night.
In early spring of 2019 Richard Marx signed a global recordings and catalog deal with BMG. The new (currently untitled) studio album is slated for a fall release.

Our brother Ronnie has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer…
This means we will have to cancel all shows announced until the end of January 2020 and we’re all sorry for the inconvenience that might bring. Right now all plans are on hold, so for the moment we can’t say much more due to the current situation but we will keep you updated.

STATEMENT
It’s scary how your world can be turned upside down in a couple of weeks.
I went to my doctor for a routine check complaining about some back pains in mid-August. I then went through numerous scans, bronchoscopy, biopsies etc. and spent a lot of time waiting for answers in uncertainty. And so finally three weeks ago I found myself diagnosed with lung cancer.
Now this has by all means been a shock to me, my family and those close to me since it came totally unexpected without any typical symptoms and everything just happened and developed so fast lately.
I’m already in treatment and underwent surgery two weeks ago, then spend some 10 days in hospital with pneumonia as a consequence apparently linked to the surgery.
According to the medical staff my prospects are good considering it’s lung cancer. However, I will have to undertake further treatment the next couple of months to be on the safe side.
This means that I unfortunately will have to step back from most musical activities concerts etc. for an indefinite period of time.
I’m going into this with a positive mindset and with the continuing love and support from my family and friends I’m determined to battle this disease the best I can -God willing!

October 5, 2018 saw the third solo studio album released by Steve Perry. His first official solo album release in 24 years, following 1994’s For the Love of Strange Medicine. Of course Steve would be part of the album release Trial By Fire in 1996 during an extremely short Journey reunion. Following that up in 1998 with a few solo “film” tunes on the soundtrack for Quest for Camelot.
Honestly if you followed Steve like a hawk he was still dabbling in and out of music studios working with other musicians in the 2000’s. Granted none of the material was released on his own solo albums or remasters. These tracks would be on multiple upcoming artists. He contributed his vocals to the backgrounds mostly.
So that’s the extremely short version of Steve Perry’s history from 1994 – 2000’s… However, clearly the biggest news was that of his August 14th, 2018 release of No Erasin’. This would be the first single to be released from Traces.
Alright…so after a few singles and videos posted online. October 5th, 2018 was here. Jere and myself had been tipped off for years about Steve working with random artists so a full studio album to us just seemed like it was absolutely possible. With remasters in the works it all made a lot of sense! Ok, so we had to wait till 2018 but here it came!
Traces to me is the heartbreaking album that made the most sense for Steve to release. It is nothing short of a heartache and dark undertones. Are there some lights on at the end of the tunnel? No doubt about it! Steve had some wonderful twists and play on words added to Traces to give the listener a positive movement as well. But again the sadness is there and if you have ever lost anyone in your life this album brings a lot of those feelings back full circle.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more honest album then that of Traces. And yes I’m an extreme Steve Perry fanboy… so lets just get that reminder out there. I just couldn’t help but get caught up in the pallet of words used. Some wanted more rock.. others love the ballads. Does everyone want a few tracks like Sun Shines Gray? Umm.. yes! But you have got to remember this album wasn’t about one specific genre of music. It was in fact a pallet of emotions put together to give you the sense of where Steve was and how he’s trying to climb back out of the darkness. This is not the easiest thing to do. And again if you’ve personally lost someone in your life then you can easily relate. Those who have not will and have blown off this album has a satire or shadow of what was one of the greatest vocalists in rock history. In my opinion.. people who “don’t understand” this album are not looking deep enough. There’s so much more than just the lyrics. There’s the soft stillness and rough edges as if a piece of paper had been torn a part several times. As a whole it is paper.. torn a part it’s still paper.. but it takes time to mend things back together. And sometimes things don’t always come back.
As I sit in my office chair and listen to Traces on LP from start to finish at 1:00am one year after it was originally released I still believe this is the most beautiful album Steve has released in his career. From the straight forward opener of No Erasin’ to the devastating Most of All and making the turn to Sun Shines Gray you as the listener have been guided. You can’t erase the past..you can always remember your “most of all” and even in the darkness the Sun Shines Gray. It may be bleak but there are still moments of happiness out there in life. And as Steve ends the album with some additional uplifting ballads, you know he’s going to be as good as he possibly can be in his life. One year later.. this album still speaks volumes to me about how fragile life is and how it changes in a blink of an eye.
Is this album autobiographical? I would say without question these songs come straight from Steve’s soul. So for those who continue to wait for Steve to do a live show… remember.. it could happen.. but it may not.. and that is ok. After all this wasn’t about a comeback. This wasn’t about a final curtain call. This was about sharing a loss, going through a grieving process and hopefully in the end finding some sort of peace with the decisions made.. in the past.. in the present.. and in the future.
