Released Nov. 13, 2020

Platinum-selling country music group BlackHawk returns to the scene with a two-disc greatest hits project titled Just About Right: Live From Atlanta. The new album, recorded live acoustically from Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, Georgia, will drop Friday, November 13th via BFD / Audium Nashville / The Orchard.

Known for their smooth, brother-like harmonies, BlackHawk was originally made up of trio Henry Paul (lead vocals, mandolin, acoustic guitar), Dave Robbins (harmony vocals, keyboard) and the late Van Stephenson (harmony vocals, electric guitar).

Recording Just About Right gave Paul and Robbins the chance to reunite with their original backing band from the 90s, performing again alongside Bobby Huff (percussion) and Dale Oliver (lead guitar). Paul explains that this reunion “made for a very memorable musical moment. Many of the songs we chose were personal favorites from our early records spanning nearly a decade.” Fans will recognize top hits including “Goodbye Says It All,” “Every Once in a While,” “I Sure Can Smell the Rain,” “That’s Just About Right” and 18 more of the band’s applauded tracks.

“Making a live BlackHawk acoustic recording takes me back to when Henry, Van, and I started writing and singing together as a trio,” says Dave Robbins. “It’s representative of BlackHawk in its purist form, having old friends join us on stage and tried-and-true fans makes everything ‘just about right’ on that special night in Atlanta.”

“Having this music that’s so special to us performed by the people that helped create it sets this double live album apart from anything we’ve recorded and released,” Paul continues. “I especially love the acoustic nature of this collection because it casts these songs in the true spirit in which they were written.”

Just About Right: Live From Atlanta will be available to purchase, download and stream everywhere on Friday, November 13th. https://orcd.co/BlackHawkJustAboutRightLive

For as long as he can remember, music has been an integral part of Lincoln Brewster’s life. By age two, he was using broken drumsticks to keep time at his mom’s band rehearsals. At age five, he was playing the mandolin for tourists in a port town in Alaska. And by age nine, he had picked up the electric guitar. But music wasn’t just a fun hobby for a bright kid. It was a refuge for Lincoln and his mom in a home plagued by substance abuse and domestic violence.

By his mid-teens, the family had reached a tipping point and Lincoln watched as his mother went through a painful divorce that forced the family to relocate to California. Though he was torn from his hometown and friends, he once again found hope in music. He continued to hone his guitar skills, recording a demo that caught the attention of music industry insider and former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson. That led to an invitation for Lincoln, then age 19, to tour with legendary rocker Steve Perry. Lincoln, who had accepted Christ before beginning work with Perry, eventually walked away from mainstream music, taking a job at his local church. That change in trajectory would lead to ministry opportunities he could never have imagined, including a recording career with Integrity Music and his current role as a senior pastor at Bayside Church near Sacramento, California.

Years after leaving behind his rock star dreams, this husband and father once again finds himself sharing music with capacity crowds at concerts and festivals, this time leading them in worship with songs like “There Is Power,” “Made New,” “Today Is The Day,” “Let The Praises Ring” and “No One Like Our God.” His songs have been featured on 10 albums including his latest, God Of The Impossible, a reminder that God is bigger than anything we face and nothing can separate us from His love. It is a theme that echoes throughout Lincoln’s life: from a childhood overshadowed by abuse, to a life filled with forgiveness and a ministry that has inspired believers around the globe.

In the fall of 2018, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Steve Perry ade his long-awaited return with the release of TRACES, the legendary musician’s first new album in 25 years. The album’s personal expression of love, inspiration and renewal resonated with both critics and fans around the world, thrilled to have their ‘voice of a generation’ making new music once again.

Now on TRACES (Alternative Versions & Sketches), Perry revisits several of his favorite tracks, stripping away the grand production touches, taking the songs down to their essence. Presented acoustic and raw, (including some in sketch form) tracks like “Sun Shines Gray,” “No Erasin’,” “No More Cryin’,” and “Most Of All” take on new and richer meaning. In this setting, Perry’s iconic soulful voice glides out-front vibrant, clear and warm while the lyrics take on greater significance as well, even more intimate than before.

Produced by Perry and his longtime collaborator and friend, Thom Flowers, TRACES (Alternative Versions & Sketches) offers a fascinating glimpse into Steve’s creative process and a deeper understanding into an already treasured album.

“When writing these songs, the original inspiration is always my first compass – where the songs should go,” stated Perry. “Alternate Versions & Sketches is exactly that, and I’m very excited to have you hear the original seeds of these songs.”

As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang just broke the news on twitter this afternoon that the legendary guitarist has passed away at age 65 after a long fight with cancer.

Regarded as one of the most innovative guitarists of the 20th century Eddie Van Halen changed the landscape of rock through a style uniquely his own, popularizing the two handed tapping technique in the late 1970s.

The band that bore his name went on to become kings of stadium rock launching hits the likes of Jump, Panama, Dreams, Why Can’t This Be Love, Love Walks In, When It’s Love (among countless others) into the stratosphere. Eddie further cemented his status as an icon by crossing over into the pop realm lending his skills on the guitar solo for Michael Jackson’s Beat It.

Our thoughts go out to Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie’s brother Alex and Eddie’s wife Janie. Eddie Van Halen was a one in a million talent who to this very day continues to inspire kids to pick up the guitar.

After re-releasing her 2012 track “Woman in the World,” (the 2020 remake has been aptly titled Woman In The White House) Sheryl Crow debuted a new politically-charged track called “In The End” earlier today. Co-written with Crow’s longtime collaborator Jeff Trott, the song examines an embattled president and a country facing their biggest moral dilemma.

In The End is available on all digital streaming platforms via https://sherylcrow.lnk.to/InTheEndTP

A staple of mid-90s alternative rock radio Candlebox entered the studio last year to start work on their seventh studio album and were lining it up for release in 2020 (as well as hitting the road in support of it) however due to the corona-virus pandemic those plans unfortunately had to be altered to 2021. Thankfully while all of us are isolating/social distancing Kevin and the guys have decided to give fans a taste of what’s to come with the first single – Let Me Down Easy.

No word yet when the single will be available for digital purchase but as soon as those links go live we’ll be sure to update this post. Until then you can stream Let Me Down Easy below via Candlebox’s official Youtube channel.

Sad news to start the weekend on as Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali has succumbed to pancreatic cancer at age 68.

The following statement has been released from Frankie’s family:

Frankie was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on April 17, 2019 and given six months to live. He put up an inspiringly brave and courageous 16-month battle to the end and continued playing live as long as he could. Standard chemotherapy stopped working and a series of strokes made the continuation on a clinical trial impossible. He ultimately lost the fight at 7:18 p.m. on August 20 in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and daughter

Frankie is survived by his devoted wife Regina, loving daughter Ashley, many dear friends, dedicated fans, and a menagerie of rescue animals, all of whom are family. He was a longtime advocate for animal rescue, a spokesperson for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and a sponsor of Children International. Donations in his name are encouraged for Fixnation.org, Aspca.org, Pancan.org, or Children.org. His wish for everyone is that you be your own health advocate for early detection so you may live long and rescue many animals.

Funeral plans will be announced at a later date.

Back when Quiet Riot released their 2006 effort – Rehab (their last with the legendary Kevin DuBrow) – Frankie reached out to both myself and Tony thanking us for our glowing review of the album. During that time we struck up a friendship with Frankie, when Kevin tragically passed away in November of 2007 both Tony and I felt the need to touch base with Frankie sending our condolences and Frankie got back to us right away thanking us for the kind words and thoughts as he was absolutely devastated having lost one of his best friends. With the sad news of Frankie’s passing after a courageous battle with cancer we know that he is now up in the great beyond rocking out with his friend once more as well as so many other legends no longer with us. Rest In Peace Frankie.
