Skillet - Music Video & Tour (Press Release):

Skillet have a brand new video for the song "The Older I Get" and a new set of dates coming up in March and April with Flyleaf!

"The Older I Get" video: http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid494940022

Skillet has unveiled plans for a major US tour. The Grammy Award-nominated rock outfit will join forces with Flyleaf on its upcoming "Justice & Mercy" tour, slated to traverse America through the spring. The trek will take off on March 25th in Memphis, with dates continuing through late April. Support will come from Dropping Daylight, Resident Hero, and a variety of local acts.

Skillet's recently released "COMATOSE" is shaping up to be its mainstream breakthrough. Produced by Brian Howes (known as both member of Closure and as producer of Hinder's hit debut) and mixed by maestros Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Hoobastank, Bon Jovi, P.O.D.) and David Bottrill (Tool, Staind), "COMATOSE" marks a stunning new step in the Chicago -based outfit's continuing evolution. Tracks such as "Rebirthing" and the Active Rock radio hit, "Whispers In The Dark" meld big riffs and classic prog-rock flourishes with undeniable choruses and a distinctly modern alternative sensibility. Along with the album's remarkable musical strides, vocalist/bassist John Cooper's songwriting spans a vast range of topical territories, some of which follow socially conscious ideals, while others reflect his own life and personal struggles. The band will herald the "Justice & Mercy" tour schedule with the release of a new single from "COMATOSE." "The Older I Get" is currently impacting Rock radio outlets nationwide.

Concert To Combat Climate Crisis (Press Release):
AL GORE, KEVIN WALL, PHARRELL, CAMERON DIAZ LAUNCH UNPRECEDENTED CAMPAIGN, CONCERT TO COMBAT CLIMATE CRISIS

"Live Earth" Concerts in All 7 Continents to Reach Global Audience of Over 2 Billion
Detailing a historic effort to engage billions of people across the globe, Kevin Wall, Al Gore, Pharrell Williams, Cameron Diaz, and the MSN Network today launched Save Our Selves (SOS) – The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis. The announcement was made at the California Science Center.

SOS is designed to trigger a global movement to combat our climate crisis. It will reach people in every corner of the planet through television, film, radio, the Internet and Live Earth, a 24-hour concert on 7/7/07 across all 7 continents that will bring together more than 100 of the world's top musical acts. Live Earth alone will engage an audience of more than 2 billion people through concert attendance and broadcasts. MSN has partnered with SOS to use its reach to make the Live Earth concerts available across the globe. The Live Earth audience, and the proceeds from the concerts, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by The Alliance for Climate Protection and its Chair, Vice President Al Gore. SOS was founded by Kevin Wall, who won an Emmy as Worldwide Executive Producer of Live 8.

"Our climate crisis is the paramount challenge facing humanity. SOS is more than a global distress call. SOS will give the world the tools we need to answer that call with meaningful action. The most important part of SOS is how individuals, corporations, and governments respond," Wall said. "Our climate crisis affects everyone, everywhere, and that's who SOS is aimed at. Only a global response can conquer our climate crisis. SOS asks all people to Save Our Selves because only we can."

"In order to solve the Climate Crisis, we have to reach billions of people. We are launching SOS and Live Earth to begin a process of communication that will mobilize people all over the world to take action," Gore said. "The Climate Crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement. We hope to jump-start that movement right here, right now, and take it to a new level on July 7, 2007."

"At MSN, we have the worldwide audience and the technology stage to help unite a global community around SOS and Live Earth," said Joanne Bradford, corporate vice president and chief media officer of MSN. "Anyone around the world with an Internet connection will be able to come to MSN to view not just the concert events, but also an extensive collection of interactive media that will entertain, educate, inspire and ultimately drive change."
Wall announced 25 of the 100 top musical acts that have answered SOS's call and are performing at Live Earth. SOS is also engaging other celebrities, CEOs, athletes, academics and government leaders to engage their constituencies. Please see that attached list of 25 artists.

"More than 100 artists are performing at Live Earth and they're all headliners. That's what it takes to engage billions of people. We're not just engaging fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg, or the Foo Fighters and Faith Hill. We're engaging them and everyone in between," Wall said. "We've been overwhelmed by the response from the artist community and are feverishly working out the logistics for all of the bands that want to be involved. Today we are announcing just the first 25 and will soon be announcing even more headliners who, for contractual reasons, cannot be announced today."

The campaign's identity is based on SOS, the international Morse code distress signal: three dots, followed by three dashes, followed by three dots. SOS is the most urgent, universal message we have, and SOS will use that signal as a continuous distress call to prompt individuals, corporations and governments around the world to respond to our climate crisis with action.

"SOS is creating an unmatched communications platform to take on an unparalleled crisis," Wall said. "Our message must saturate the globe if we're to succeed, and we will. In the US, we're partnering with NBC-Universal and its networks. On satellite radio, we have SIRIUS and XM. In the UK, we're partnering with the BBC. In Japan, we have a historic partnership with two broadcast partners. We have already secured television, Internet and wireless coverage in 120 countries, and the rest are soon to come."

Wall announced that Live Earth concerts will take place in the Brazil, Shanghai, Japan, Johannesburg, London, Sydney, and the Eastern United States.

Live Earth will be broadcast worldwide on MSN, which was the first sponsor to answer SOS's call. MSN is one of the world's most popular Internet destinations, and as such will allow the SOS campaign to have a global reach. MSN has services in over 42 markets and 21 languages, and more than 465 million people around the world visit MSN each month. Beginning today, people can go to liveearth.msn.com and begin participating in the global movement, and on 7/7/07, to watch the Live Earth concerts.

Live Earth is being produced by Control Room, of which Kevin Wall is the CEO. Control Room has produced and distributed more than 60 concerts since its founding a year and a half ago featuring Beyoncé, Madonna, Green Day, Dave Matthews Band, Keith Urban, James Blunt, Snoop Dogg, the Rolling Stones, among others. Its multi-partner network provides a global reach for live offerings through broadband, television, digital movie theatres and mobile phones throughout the U.S. and the world.

Live Earth will implement a new Green Event Standard that will become the model for carbon neutral concerts and other live events in the future. The Green Event Standard is being developed in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Commission to create a way for venues to be LEED-approved.

Here are the first set of artists to be announced with more to come...

Pharrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, Paolo Nutini, Sheryl Crow, AFI, Melissa Etheridge, John Mayer, Damien Rice, Corrine Bailey Rae, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Mana, Keane, Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Faith Hill w/ Tim McGraw, Bloc Party.

New Album Review - Danny Vaughn's Traveller:

The last time the world heard from Danny Vaughn was in 2004 on an album that wasn't technically a solo release but it was more along the lines of a project which was called From The Inside. At the time of its release it was slightly a step in a different direction as basically the songs were written by various writers and perhaps a bigger challenge for Vaughn coming up with new material essentially as the project was still coming together. The results however were very.....Read Our Full Review

Cornell - New Album & Goodbye To Audioslave (Press Release):
We mentioned last year that we had a feeling this could happen. We were unable to do a website update yesterday so are posting this information today. This is the full Press Release that has been sent out pertaining to Cornell's new solo album and his departure from the band Audioslave.

Two-time Grammy winner, singer-songwriter and voice of a generation, Chris Cornell, announced today the release date of his 13th career album, Carry On, in stores May 1st on Suretone/Interscope. Steered by Grammy Award-winning British super-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Morrissey, Dave Matthews Band), Carry On is a mature and content departure from the acrimonious artist who brought us Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

Additionally Cornell is permanently departing super-group Audioslave
stating, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical
differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other
three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."
The new album's fourteen tracks offer the bluesy and soulful "Safe and
Sound," psychedelic "Scar On The Sky," country-flavored "Finally Forever"
... paeans to persistence in "Disappearing Act" and a slow-grind cover of
Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" that gives the familiar song a completely
new feeling. More personal selections include "Ghost," "Arms Around Your
Love" and "She'll Never Be Your Man" and alt-rock experimentations
("Killing Birds" the anthemic "Silence the Voices"). Fans of Soundgarden
and Audioslave will appreciate the harder edge of "No Such Thing" and
"Poison Eye" and the redemptive "Your Soul Today."
Carry On will also include the Top 10 European smash hit "You Know My
Name," the main title song for the current James Bond theatrical release,
Casino Royale, appearing for the first time on a full-length release.
Cornell wrote and recorded the track with long-time James Bond composer
David Arnold for the film.

With this collection of songs, it is evident that Cornell was inspired
by songwriters from Elvis Costello to Tom Waits. Cornell says that his own
lyrical approach leans on stream-of-consciousness, "getting out of my own
way" to allow themes to naturally arise, whether topical or biographical.
"The most exciting thing is to let yourself expose your true, vulnerable
feelings, which is what resonates with people most," he explains. As far as
his vocal style, he points to such R&B singers as Otis Redding and Aretha
Franklin for showing masterfully how emotion can best be conveyed, even in
subtle phrasing, also praising Bob Marley's expressive range and Tom Waits'
use of his voice as an instrument.

Ranked 12th in MTV's "22 Greatest Voices in Music" survey, ahead of
such icons as David Bowie, Steven Tyler and Bruce Springsteen, Cornell has
been called "the single most dynamic rock and roll force produced by the
Grunge Revolution of the early '90s." As the frontman for Soundgarden, he
marshaled five studio albums including the groundbreaking SUPERUNKNOWN,
which sold more than three million copies and earned two Grammy Awards. His
songwriting continued to develop with the mid-Soundgarden side-project,
critically acclaimed, eponymously-titled release Temple of the Dog, a
collective of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden members who formed in tribute to
late Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood. More recently his tenure as
frontman for the rock super-group Audioslave, continued his multi-platinum
success and produced the hit singles "Like a Stone" and "Cochise" in the
millennium. In addition to his work in the music world, Chris Cornell
served as the face of the 2006 John Varvatos ad campaign and became a
restaurateur with the opening of Black Calavados (BC) in Paris, where he
splits his time.

Huey Lewis And The News - New Album In Works (Island Report):
Huey Lewis has been making his rounds lately but not only on the golf course. Turns out that Huey has been doing interview after interview and in each one he has mentioned that HLN has in fact started work on a brand new studio album. No major details have been mentioned except to say they have a few songs sketched out and once they are more to the bands liking they will record them.

So the creative juices are flowing for Huey and the guys once again. Here's another podcast interview where Lewis mentions new material is being worked on.

Line Of Fire Loses Drummer:
This information was originally posted by the band via their MySpace Blog on 2/05/07.

Drummer Marc Anthony is no longer a member of Line Of Fire.

"After much deliberation, Line Of Fire have chosen to part ways with Marc Anthony. We cannot say enough good things about him. He is a super, super nice guy with a great heart. It was simply a case of a stylistic clash. Marc is a good drummer, just not the right drummer for Line Of Fire. This decision broke our hearts and we wish Marc all the love and success in the world!"

Marc will continue work on his Angel Of Mercy solo project, info on which can be found HERE.

Line Of Fire continue to work on their sophomore effort.

Rush - Snakes & Arrows (Press Release):

Anthem/Atlantic recording group Rush has unveiled details of its upcoming new album, entitled "SNAKES & ARROWS." The renowned rock trio's first new collection of original material in nearly five years, the album will be released on May 1st.

"SNAKES & ARROWS" was recorded in the fall of 2006 with Grammy Award-winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) and Rush co-producing. The album's first single, "Far Cry," will be released to radio in mid March. To hear a clip of the song, visit www.rush.com

Rush - Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart - will trumpet the release of "SNAKES & ARROWS" with a full-scale North American tour, the band's first since 2004's "An Evening with Rush: 30th Anniversary Tour." Further details about this summer's tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Since releasing its self-titled debut album in 1974, Rush has been universally regarded as one of the most inventive and exciting groups in rock, famed for Lee, Lifeson, and Peart's virtuoso musicianship, epic soundscapes, and dramatic lyricism. The band's extraordinary body of work - which includes such acclaimed works as 1976's "2112," 1981's "MOVING PICTURES," 1996's "TEST FOR ECHO," and 2002's "VAPOR TRAILS" - has achieved worldwide sales exceeding 35 million units.

Normally we do not post Youtube links for the simple reason that Youtube contains many illegal/unauthorized videos. But because this is a press release and the videos are authorized by the band and their management we've kept the links in tact.

Frontiers Records Updates:
Joe Lynn Turner
Former RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE singer JOE LYNN TURNER is very busy putting finishing touches to the mix of his forthcoming studio album entitled "Second Hand Life".

"The new disc is almost done and I would describe it as a hybrid between The Usual Suspects and Sunstorm" explains Joe, "'Sunstorm' received more positive reviews than any of my solo CDs since Rescue You so I felt that the fans wanted to hear more music in this melodic rock vein. So...I think we delivered on this forthcoming album"

The line-up on the recording includes Karl Cochran on guitars and bass, Bob Held on bass, Michael Cartellone (DAMN YANKEES, LYNYRD SKYNYRD) on drums and Gary Corbett on keyboards.

The new album sees songwriting contributions from Jim Peterik, Bob Held, Karl Cochran, Martin Briley and a track that was written by Ritchie Blackmore, Jim Peterik, Roger Glover and Joe entitled "Stroke of Midnight".

Release is scheduled in April 07 on Frontiers Records in Europe. More details to be released shortly.

Shaw/Blades
For a taste of what to expect from the upcoming SHAW / BLADES new album "Influence" due out on Frontiers Records on February 16th 2007, fans should check out the band's MySpace page (www.myspace.com/shawbladesinfluence), which features a video clip of the duo performing "Too Much Time On My Hands" (Styx) and "High Enough" (Damn Yankees).

"Influence" is the duo's first album since their 1995 debut, "Hallucination". Like the debut - and unlike their history-carving decades as icons in the more hard-rock minded STYX, NIGHT RANGER and DAMN YANKEES - the latest release is rooted in acoustic guitar and organic production, harvesting a decade of musical influences into 11 tracks (on which Blades and Shaw played all the music except for drums and the occasional keyboards). With classics from the '60s and '70s including the Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'," Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" and Steely Dan's "Dirty Work", "Influence" offers a track-by-track chronology of the musical era that helped define modern rock.

In an early album review, Greg Prato of All Music Guide raved, "Impressively consistent from beginning to end, Influence is certainly one of the better 'all covers' albums of recent times."

High praise is on the rise from the original artists who are covered on "Influence".

To wit: "I want to thank Tommy and Jack for keeping our music alive. They honored us with 'California Dreamin'." --Michelle Phillips, The Mamas & The Papas ("California Dreamin'")

"How absolutely fabulous...what an honor to see someone so 'into it' that it sounds and feels so much like our original record. congratulations." --Graham Nash, The Hollies ("On A Carousel" )

"Just wonderful...it was just great to hear your recording...you captured the song so well..." --Jon Anderson, Yes ("Your Move")

Blackhawk - On Their Own (Island Report):

Well the unthinkable has happened yet again. We mentioned several times last year that Blackhawk would be releasing their new album in '07 after many delays. Now it looks like the disc is on hold again, though this is not the band's fault. Another label bites the dust leaving this band in limbo but with new material in hand. Henry Paul the lead singer of Blackhawk updated the Diary section of their official website on Jan 27th with the following post:

We played in Augusta, GA last night and it was a riot. We went down there and reminded those folks what we do and gave them a good look at and listen to who we've become and where the new music is headed. The sold out audience went crazy for the group and the response was very exciting!!!! As far as Rust going under and us coming away without a label, we are going to shop our new record to various labels in Nashville that are set up to go out there and get us a hit at country radio. If one bites great. If not we'll find another type label that understands, and appreciates us for who we are and we'll stay out on the road and continue to make great records for as long as we can. Whatever it is you like about our band we'll take that musical message out there and find an audience who will like us as much and for the same reasons that you do.  Henry

This is good news for all those Blackhawk fans out there that are still hoping to hear this disc. For now you can visit their official MySpace page to listen to 3 new tracks. www.myspace.com/blackhawkofficial

Kelly Clarkson & Nascar (Press Release):

Singer Kelly Clarkson has agreed on a deal for the 2007 season that is the largest and most comprehensive NASCAR has ever forged with an artist.

The multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Clarkson will be integrated into all aspects of NASCAR, including an at-track concert, TV spot, charitable endeavors and the Nextel Cup Series Awards Ceremony.

The relationship will begin Feb. 18 prior to the Daytona 500, where Clarkson will headline the Nextel Tribute To America live on FOX. The event salutes music as the fabric of America and will feature thousands of cast members on the Daytona International Speedway's historic five-acre, tri-oval area.

During her appearance at Daytona, Clarkson will film a 30-second "NASCAR. How bad have you got it?" television spot that will combine footage of her Daytona 500 performance with actual race footage. Airing throughout the 2007 season on FOX, TNT, ABC, ESPN and SPEED, the spot will also feature a new song from Clarkson's third album, due mid-year.

"Anyone who knows me knows I'm a race fan and love NASCAR," Clarkson said. "It's been cool doing things with NASCAR in the past and I'm honored to have the opportunity to play such a huge role for the sport in 2007. I look forward to hanging out with the fans, drivers and the entire NASCAR community.

"Clarkson's latest album, Breakaway, earned two Grammys, spawned five No. 1 singles and sold more than 10 million records worldwide and more than six million in the U.S. Thanks to instant classics like Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes and Because Of You, the Texas native's music has become a staple of pop radio during the past five years. In December, Clarkson was declared the most successful artist in Top 40 history, with at least one single on the chart for 111 consecutive weeks.

NASCAR has developed advertising and at-track campaigns with artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jewel, Lenny Kravitz, LeAnn Rimes and Sheryl Crow. The deal with Clarkson, however, is the culmination of a symbiotic model in which artists utilize the second most-watched sport in America as a marketing and promotional vehicle, while NASCAR attracts new fans by connecting with the artist's base.

"NASCAR's relationship with Kelly Clarkson will be unique not only due to the depth of her involvement in the sport all season long, but her enthusiasm for NASCAR as a fan of NASCAR will surely develop into an unparalleled relationship," said Sarah Nettinga, managing director, film, television and entertainment, NASCAR Digital Entertainment.

"We're delighted to have one of the most popular singers in the world entertain the race fans in attendance as well as the live television audience on FOX," Daytona International Speedway president Robin Braig said. "NASCAR's most prestigious event will get off to a roaring start with this unforgettable pre-race show that's fitting for the biggest, richest and most-watched motorsports event in America."

As part of the deal, Clarkson will also serve as spokesperson and ambassador for the fourth annual NASCAR Day on May 18. NASCAR Day is a one-day celebration of the NASCAR spirit that gives fans across the country a chance to show their support for the sport they love and help worthwhile causes. As part of her role as official spokesperson, Clarkson will appear in an ad campaign promoting NASCAR Day for The NASCAR Foundation. The ad will premiere during the Daytona 500.

Clarkson is scheduled to perform at the Nextel Cup Series Awards Ceremony in New York City on Nov. 30. The awards ceremony honors the top drivers of the Nextel Cup Series season and officially crowns the Cup champion. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN.

For the past three years, the Nextel Tribute to America featured a who's who list of entertainers including singer Rimes, the rock band Bon Jovi, country music superstar Clint Black, Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter John Ondrasik and his band, Five For Fighting, singer/actress Vanessa Williams, singer Lee Greenwood and the Bethune-Cookman College Marching Wildcats.

Tickets for the Daytona 500 as well as other Speedweeks 2007 events are available online at www.racetickets.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.

CMT Crossroads:

Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire will tape an episode of CMT Crossroads on Feb. 22 in Nashville in front of an invitation-only audience. The episode will air in the fourth quarter of 2007. Clarkson sang "Why Haven't I Heard From You" and "Does He Love You" on CMT Giants: Reba in November and recently appeared on McEntire's sitcom, Reba. McEntire's duets album, to be released in late 2007, features a duet with Clarkson.

The Rowdy Frynds Tour (Press Release):

It will be a rowdy tour indeed when Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Lynyrd Skynyrd and country music icon Hank Williams Jr. unite for a series of national dates in 2007, appropriately named THE ROWDY FRYNDS TOUR. Vector Management and William Morris Agency announced today that the tour will feature 20 markets to start, with additions to the tour announced at a later time.

"The tour is scheduled to commence April 11th in Huntsville, Alabama with dates running through June," says Vector Management’s, Ross Schilling. "This package will offer fans performances by two of the greatest musical legends in one spectacular night."

“We will be playing on Friday and Saturday nights to ensure all our ‘Rowdy Frynds’ can party with us all night long,” says Gary Rossington.

The conception for the tour came about when Vector artist manager’s Ken Levitan and Ross Schilling met with William Morris Sr. VP Greg Oswald following the success of the Double Trouble Tour with 3 Doors Down in 2006. It was evident that the fans attending a Hank Williams Jr. show are the same fans carrying an American flag at the Lynyrd Skynyrd shows. The only question was if the two headliners would be as excited about the package tour as the teams supporting them.

"Hank played with Skynyrd years ago and it was one heck of a show. Since then, we've been looking for the opportunity to tour together," said Johnny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, "because his fans are our fans, and vice versa."

Clearly, Lynyrd Skynyrd weren’t the only ones chomping at the bit to turn the conception into reality.

"Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. on the stage together in the same night," Hank Williams Jr. commented, "talk about a show! I can't wait to see what happens in these cities!"

Ranked as one of the best-selling artists of all time by the Recording Industry Association of America and recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee's, Lynyrd Skynyrd is still going strong with almost 65 albums, 30 million albums sold to date, and over 80 performances annually. The band is currently writing the follow-up to Vicious Cycle, the band's May 2003 release on Sanctuary Records that spawned the single "Red White and Blue," which was the band's strongest in over 25 years. To date, the Southern anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" has passed the 1,000,000 mark in downloaded master ringtones, proving that Lynyrd Skynyrd is a major industry icon that appeals to all generations.

With more than 70 albums to his credit, including his latest "That's How We Do It In Dixie," and 5 Entertainer of the Year nods, Hank Williams Jr. has a fascinating career to reflect upon for a legend still in his prime. In fact, 2007 celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the #1 single “Country Boy Can Survive,” proving his music is timeless. His discography chronicles a bold profile of growth from adored offspring of a legendary father, to titan of the modern country rock movement in his own right. For more than a decade, America has come to its collective feet each fall when this larger than life superman of a musician looks into the camera and unleashes the national anthem for viewers of Monday Night Football - 'Are you ready for some football?' Those simple words have won Williams, Jr. an entirely new generation of fans and given him the distinction of being the first country performer to ever win an Emmy.

Belinda Carlisle - Voila:

An Album Of Classic French Chansons And Pop Standards, Carlisle’s Rykodisc Debut Set For Release on February 6, 2007; February 5, UK Just in time for Valentine's Day.

Limited Edition Bonus Disc to include four songs from the album in English

» Click here to pre-order in the US
» Click here to pre-order in the UK

Belinda Carlisle’s Voila, her first new album in a decade, and her first record sung entirely in French, is a radical departure for the pop diva and lead singer of the Go-Go’s. Working with producer John Reynolds (U2, Sinéad O’Connor, Indigo Girls), Carlisle has fashioned a traditional pop album that pays tribute to the classic French chansons and pop music of the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the album is set for release on February 6, 2007 (February 5 in the UK). The first pressing of Voila will be a limited edition containing a bonus disc of four songs from the album in English.

Carlisle says the album is the culmination of a long investigation into French music. “After discovering and coming to love French music, I decided to record these amazing songs myself with a playful, contemporary feel.”

Carlisle and Reynolds went into the studio with a musical dream team including Brian Eno on keyboards, guitarist Fianchna O'Braonain (Hothouse Flowers,) Sharon Shannon, the Irish button accordion player who incorporates reggae, tango and calypso into her music, Julian Wilson (Grand Drive) on piano, Hammond B-3, strings, keyboards and world music star Natacha Atlas (Transglobal Underground) on backing vocals.

“We wanted to try everything, no holds barred,” Carlisle says. “Since this is not a pop project, we were free to experiment. We played with every song, trying all sorts of instrumentation and different styles of arranging and everything clicked. The only definite idea I had was that I wanted to sing with an accordion. Other than that, there was no conscious effort to cover as much creative ground as we could; we just played around with things and had a blast.”

The creative energy Carlisle and Reynolds brought to the project is evident on every track. Carlisle’s smoky vocals and the diverse arrangements imbue the songs with a simmering Gallic soul. “Sous Le Ciel De Paris (Under Paris Skies)” sounds like a street carnival waltz with its mournful accordion and eerie keyboard accents, Francoise Hardy’s “Pourtant Tu M'aimes” gets recast as a new wave rocker, “La Vie En Rose” bounces along on a driving disco backbeat and “Jezebel” sounds like the twang-drenched theme song from a spaghetti western. Songs like “Ne Me Quitte Pas” and “Avec Le Temps” are closer to their original incarnations, wrenching emotional statements made more intense by Carlisle’s understated delivery.

“You don't really have to know what’s being sung to know that ‘Avec Les Temps’ is a devastating love song,” Carlisle says. “When I heard that song the first time, it broke my heart.” Carlisle’s first venture into French music proves once again that good songs are universal - timeless expressions of the human soul that need no translation to work their exhilarating magic.

John Waite - Universal Solider & Studio Notes:

A new John Waite track called "Universal Solider" has made its way onto iTunes. The song is a bonus cut from his latest album "Downtown Journey Of A Heart." You can purchase the full album for $9.99 or those of you who have purchased the album else where already can simply purchase this new song for .99 cents. An amazing rock song that is clearly one of Waite's best tracks in recent years. This track has that mainstream type vibe and a few people I've played it for have been a bit turned off by the mix, their comments "too modern," "he sounds great, but the track doesn't fit his style." So it seems the people I've had listen to the track just simply don't care for this modern twist. But like I said above, I find it to be one of his best tracks in recent years. I recommend going on iTunes and checking out the audio clip. Listed below is the write-up that can be found via John Waite's Online News Blog. - Tony

To John Waite Fans Everywhere,
In the past few days, we have received questions from all over the world from regarding the recently released John Waite bonus track on iTunes, ‘Universal Soldier.’ Many of those questions have come from John Waite fans, so we thought the official John Waite website would be an appropriate place to provide some facts about ‘Universal Soldier.’ We want to make it clear that some of the questions we received can best be answered by John and his management. But, there are a few questions that we can address here:

We are huge, life-long, John Waite fans. It was truly an honor to work with him. John is an extraordinary singer and a truly moving artist.

My twin brother Marc and I are producers and songwriters. We own and operate The Pop Machine, a recording studio in Indianapolis and have been involved making or producing music all of our lives.

Our meeting John came through a mutual friend and via the House of Blues/Shade Tree Womens’ Shelter show in Las Vegas that John hosted for several years.

John wrote all the lyrics for ‘Universal Soldier,’ of course! With input and guidance from John, the music was written by Marc and I with Joey Fingers who used to sing in a band called Transmatic (www.myspace.com/transmatic).

There is a stellar cast of musicians on the track including Kyle Cook (Matchbox Twenty) on guitar, Kenny Aronoff (Dylan, Mellencamp, Fogerty) on drums, Adam White (Wonderdrug, Tiffany) on loops, me on bass, and Marc on guitar. All of us are Hoosiers from the great state of Indiana; however, Debby Holiday (www.debbyholiday.com), a remarkable talent from Los Angeles, added the soulful harmony vocals.

We co-produced the iTunes version of ‘Universal Soldier’ with John.

Universal Soldier was recorded at Henson Studios www.hensonrecording.com in Hollywood and The Pop Machine.

We want to thank the John Waite fans who have given us so much encouraging feedback on the song. For those of you who bought the ‘Downtown Journey of a Heart’ in a store, we hope that you will buy ‘Universal Soldier’ on iTunes. We are also asking you to please review the song, the reviews on iTunes have been positive and we hope to keep that going. We really appreciate all the support!

A big thanks to Crissy for her tireless effort making johnwaiteonline.com such an amazing website filled with fantastic JW content and a lively forum – kudos to you!

All the best to John Waite fans around the world!

Hanson - Taking The Walk (Artist Release) (Island Exclusive):

Hanson do not just talk the talk. Whether in 1997 as the youngest Grammy nominated songwriters in history with the smash single “Mmmbop”, showcasing their live chops at Carnegie Hall with 2003’s Underneath Acoustic Tour or debuting with one of the highest self-released albums of all time with 2004’s “Underneath”, they walk the walk. The bands aptly named forthcoming studio album, The Walk, proves to be the greatest testament to the bands independent and pioneering musical spirit yet. In 2004 The New York Post praised them saying, “Hanson has established itself as a credible rock band whose best years and music are still to come.” With The Walk, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson are proving them right.

The band’s last studio album, 2004’s critically acclaimed Underneath, took them to #1 on the ‘Billboard’ indie charts. Released on the bands own 3CG Records Underneath proved Hanson remains a vibrant entity in today’s music scene with the album also spawning a #2 single in the US and top 10 single in UK with lead track, “Penny and Me”. The success of Underneath as an independent release was in stark contrast to the arduous process the band went through to complete the album while still under the corporate umbrella of their former major label. That struggle, to break from their major label contract and start their own independent label, was captured in Strong Enough to Break, a hard-hitting documentary film selected for the Hollywood Film Festival and added to multiple music school curriculums including NYU and USC.

Their forthcoming album The Walk was co-produced with veteran producer Danny Kortchmar (Billy Joel, Don Henley, Carole King, James Taylor). The result is an album independent in sound and message. “Every song on The Walk has a direct tie to something or someone we have a passion for” explains Taylor. “We recorded these songs in our Tulsa studio to capture the true energy and spirit of what we were feeling. It’s very personal.”

“A lot of the songs were tracked live ‘off-the-floor’ in their first inception,” Isaac says. “It ends up capturing more of the true essence of what the band is. There wasn’t some record company guy there telling us how it should sound or feel, or what songs we should be focusing on. That’s why we left the label when we were working on when we were recording Underneath. It’s our music. This new album was done from the beginning the way that all records should be done.”

The body of work in their new album, The Walk, was inspired not only by personal experiences in the last two years, including the birth of Taylor’s third child and marriages for both Isaac and Zac, but also their convictions. In an unconventional move, Hanson is releasing the song “Great Divide” as an exclusive internet track on World AIDS Day, December 1st. 100% of the revenues derived by the sale of the song, which features a South African children's choir recorded on the group's recent trip to South Africa and Mozambique in July 2006, will be donated to the Perinatal HIV Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa (hivsa.com).

Hanson released their first independent album in 1995 foreshadowing their future as indie music pioneers. That album contained the smash hit Mmmbop, written by Hanson independently, prior to signing with their major label and without any outside influence. The band signed with Mercury Records who in 1997 released the three-Grammy nominated “Middle of Nowhere”, selling eight-million albums and an international hit single “Mmmbop.” The song was praised by Bono in an interview with CD:UK as “genius.” The band followed with “This Time Around” in 2000 and “Underneath” in 2004.

Now ten years after that first Mercury release the band has returned to its independent and musical beginnings, drawing from their R&B and rock n roll influences while continuing to define their own sound. “There’s a harder-hitting sound to this record,” Taylor says. “You can hear it in Ike’s guitar, and in the grooves. We’re going back to our roots.”

The Walk full length album will be released in Spring 2007

Make sure you checkout their Official Website as it contains a link to an exclusive online preview of their upcoming album as well as additional details. Their current single "Great Divide" has that classic R&B/Soul vibe along with their signature vocal sound. I highly recommend checking out this material, keep an open mind as this is a long way away from "Mmmbop." We will of course have a review of this album in due-course - Tony

Duran Duran Keyboardist & Others To Design... (Press Release):
DURAN DURAN keyboardist, Nick Rhodes, has joined BONO, PHILLIPE STARK, KARL LAGERFELD, BRYAN ADAMS and a host of other stars to design and create his very own customised guitar, which will be on display as part of the 'Born To Rock' exhibition at HARRODS in London, from this coming Friday, February 2nd until Saturday, March 3rd, 2007.

This stunning exhibition, which was launched at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, and then played to record-breaking crowds and rave reviews at the National Museum of Ireland for eight straight weeks, gathers together over 150 priceless guitars, many of which have been either specially designed and built or never displayed before.

Divided into three stunning categories: 'Born To Rock™' showcases:

-- More than fifty unique and individually customised pieces, which together form the "RockCouture™" collection

-- An unprecedented collection of rare and vintage guitars - including the world's first electric guitar known as the "Frying Pan" (1931); and

-- Legendary guitars that have been played by many of the world's leading rockers, including Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Noel Gallagher, the Edge, Marc Bolan, Neil Young, and blues great Rory Gallagher.

Amongst the most inventive and spectacular displays, the Nick Rhodes' Guitar is a stunning "state-of-the-art" masterpiece, for which a Fender was hollowed out and the entire front of the body was replaced with a digital screen that allows customized film footage to play across the entire surface. This has created something that is both visually dynamic and unique – and that, in itself, was a technical challenge, that required design engineers in both the US and UK for the customization. Now an absolute one-of-a-kind, the guitar has a hefty price-tag attached to it – and promises to raise a significant amount for the exhibition's charitable causes when it is auctioned off later this Spring

Commenting on the guitar and forthcoming "Born To Rock™" exhibition Nick Rhodes said; "The Fender Stratocaster is a true design classic, visually it has remained much the same since it was first launched in 1954, so it was a real challenge to create a new interpretation. As a keyboard player, I was thrilled to be asked and decided to turn the guitar into a TV monitor. Since this had not been done before, I encountered numerous unexpected technical difficulties, but with the help of an expert team we were able to carve out the interior of the guitar body and pack it full of pixels. We then replaced the front plate with a semi translucent material so that the images generated would shine through. It was also very important that you were still able to play the guitar, so it simply has one additional cable which links to the computer providing the video content. When I curated the film we are using, it became evident that stark, graphic visuals and psychedelic patterns worked best. I am proud to say that this is the world's first TV guitar, I named it The Pixelator."

Within the exhibition, the Nick Rhodes Guitar will feature as one of the "RockCouture™" collection, alongside customised guitars, personalised and uniquely designed by a veritable who's who of artists and designers from the worlds of art, fashion and pop, including Bono, Bryan Adams, Phillipe Stark, Patrick Cox, Sir Peter Blake, Lord Richard Rogers, David LaChapelle, Jennifer Lopez, Graham Coxon, Philip Treacy and society jeweller Theo Fennell. Following the exhibition, these guitars will be auctioned off by Christies, with a view to raising over £1,000,000 for a number of different charities, nominated by the individual creators, including Keep A Child Alive, Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, and Amnesty International.

Both the "RockCouture™" collection and "Born To Rock™" were conceived and curated by Ian Spero, the CEO of leading music marketing agency BigTime.TV.

DURAN DURAN are currently in the final stages of writing and recording the follow-up to their multi-platinum 'Astronaut' album (2004). The new album which is due for release in the Summer, will feature a collaboration with Justin Timberlake and three tracks produced by Timbaland (Missy Elliot/Jay Z/Justin Timberlake/Snoop Dog).

DURAN DURAN will join Sir Elton John, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone and Pharrell Williams amongst others to perform at the Concert For Diana on the 1st July at Wembley Stadium. The band are expected to tour again later this year.

In Remembrance - Space Shuttle Columbia:
The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster was the destruction of the Space Shuttle Columbia over Texas on February 1, 2003 during reentry into the Earth's atmosphere on its 28th mission, STS-107. All seven members of the crew were killed.

The loss of the Columbia was caused by damage sustained during launch when foam insulation the size of a small briefcase, broke off the main propellant tank under the aerodynamic forces of launch. The debris struck the leading edge of the orbiter's left wing on the number 8 reinforced carbon carbon (RCC) tile, damaging the shuttle's thermal protection system (TPS). While the shuttle was still in orbit, some concerned engineers suspected damage, but NASA managers limited the investigation on the grounds that little could be done even if problems were found.

NASA's own shuttle safety regulations stated very clearly that external tank foam shedding and subsequent debris strikes upon the shuttle itself were launch safety issues that needed to be resolved before a launch was cleared, but time and time again launches were given the go ahead as engineers unsuccessfully worked the foam shedding problem. The majority of shuttle launches recorded such foam strikes and thermal tile scarring, all in violation of safety regulations, and all were strangely ignored as far as launch safety protocol went, allowing a dangerous pattern of acceptance to slowly graft itself onto the program. Over time a bizarre rationale developed, which could be summarized as, "We've always allowed launches to go ahead despite foam strikes and a fairly consistent history of tile damage, but because the damage has always been found to be minimal, we have no reason to regard foam strikes as being a threat to mission safety issue, and are therefore increasingly comfortable violating our own safety regulations". Despite the fact that the Colombia foam strike was the largest ever recorded in shuttle history, this rationale held firm against urgent requests for photographic verification of the wing's condition, because by this time, it was virtually taken for granted by NASA management that insulation foam strikes were not a safety of mission issue.

During reentry, the damaged area allowed the hot gases to penetrate and destroy the internal wing structure, eventually causing the in-flight breakup of the vehicle. A massive ground search in parts of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas recovered crew remains and many vehicle fragments.

The Columbia Accident Investigation Board's recommendations addressed both technical and organizational issues. The Space Shuttle program was set back over two years by the disaster, a delay comparable only to that resulting from the Challenger disaster.

Hilary Duff - "Dignity" (Island Report):
Pop sensation Hilary Duff will release "Dignity" her 3rd studio album on April 3rd. The first single "With Love" can be heard on various radio stations through-out the world. Currently only 2 song titles have been officially confirmed "Play With Fire" and "With Love." Additional rumored titles: "Happy," "Where's Your Dignity?," "Gypsy Woman," "Danger" and "Stranger." This disc will be a drastic change from her previous releases as it is geared toward a dance/rave crowd rather then her normal pop/rock fan base. More then likely there will still be something for those pop/rock fans out there, don't lose hope just yet. Hilary will be on TRL next Thursday, February 8th to promote the music video for "With Love."
