Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime, Rocklahoma Bound

April.25th.2008 - Friday

On Sunday, July 13th in Pryor, Oklahoma, Queensryche (Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Mike Stone) will hit the stage to perform their 1988 concept album, Operation: Mindcrime, from beginning to end in its entirety. The epic theatrical presentation will cover all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as "Revolution Calling," "Operation: Mindcrime," "I Don't Believe In Love" and the closing track, "Eyes Of A Stranger." The band's headlining performance of Operation: Mindcrime at this year's four-day Rocklahoma festival will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release and will be the only performance of its type in the United States this year. Last year, the band released Mindcrime at the Moore, a double DVD featuring the theatrical performances of both Operation: Mindcrime I & II albums that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD Chart. It marked the band's first #1 chart debut. In addition to Mindcrime, fans in attendance at Rocklahoma this July can expect an encore performance of well-known hits from other albums in the band's illustrious career now spanning 25 years.

On Thursday, May 8th, the band will begin their tour of South America, Europe and the United Kingdom on a trek that will ultimately last throughout most of the summer.

30th Anniversary of Billy Joel's 'The Stranger'

Press Release

Legacy Recordings proudly celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Billy Joel's breakout album "The Stranger" with the release of two special editions -- a 2 CD Legacy Edition and a Deluxe Limited Edition including 2 CDs plus a bonus DVD -- of the best-selling multi-platinum collection which catapulted Joel into the upper ranks of pop music superstardom. Each of the 30th Anniversary editions of "The Stranger" will be available online and in stores on Tuesday, July 8, 2008.

Originally released in September 1977, Billy Joel's fifth studio album, "The Stranger," marked the first of Joel's highly successful collaborations with producer Phil Ramone, whose mastery of the recording studio provided a sublime sonic context for Joel's timeless songs and classic performances. "I was very happy that we chose Phil Ramone," said Billy Joel in a recent interview for the 30th Anniversary edition of "The Stranger." "He got it right away."

The resulting collection became one of the top-selling albums of the year (peaking at #2 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart); won two Grammys (Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Just The Way You Are," "The Stranger" was nominated for Album of the Year); overtook Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as Columbia Records Top Selling Album of the time, and generated four indelible singles -- "Just The Way You Are (#1 Adult Contemporary, #3 Pop Singles); "Only The Good Die Young" (#24 Pop Singles); "She's Always A Woman" (#2 Adult Contemporary, #17 Pop Singles); and "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" (#17 Pop Singles) -- that remain radio staples to this day.

"I don't recall particularly feeling 'this is going to be the breakthrough,'" said Billy Joel in an interview for "The Stranger -- 30th Anniversary Edition." "We were just happy with the album we were making at the time.... But now, in hindsight, I can see it was a real important album."

Billy Joel's first Top 10 album, "The Stranger" is still the iconic performer's best-selling non-compilation album ever. Ranked at #67 on Rolling Stone's prestigious "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list, "The Stranger" has earned the coveted RIAA Diamond Album certification (presented in recognition of US sales of more than 10 million copies).

"The Stranger -- 30th Anniversary" will be available in two configurations from Legacy Recordings.

The limited deluxe edition of "The Stranger" includes a CD of the original album, in its entirety, remastered by producer Phil Ramone; a CD of a previously unreleased concert featuring Billy and his band, "Live At Carnegie Hall 1977," recorded at the historic Manhattan venue on June 3, 1977, one month prior to the sessions for "The Stranger" album and newly restored for the new editions of "The Stranger"; and a DVD showcasing two live promotional videos from "The Stranger" and the long-awaited release of Billy's fabled appearance on the BBC's "Old Grey Whistle Test," a seldom-seen sixty minute cavalcade from 1978 that has aired only once on the UK's BBC2.

Rounding out the limited deluxe edition of "The Stranger -- 30th Anniversary" package is a 48 page booklet with liner notes from Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke and a multitude of photos, including never-before- seen images from the original photo shoot for the album.

Also available is "The Stranger -- 30th Anniversary" Legacy Edition which includes the CD of the original album, in its entirety, remastered by producer Phil Ramone; the previously unreleased, newly restored "Live At Carnegie Hall 1977" CD; and a 24 page booklet with liner notes by David Fricke and unseen photos from the album's original photo shoot.

Carney - Nothing Without You

April.23rd.2008 - Wednesday

Carney is a 4-piece Los Angeles musical phenomenon, who despite their young age (all 4 members are in their early 20’s), have years of musical experience behind them. The band itself is fronted by siblings Reeve Carney; lead vocals & guitar & Zane Carney; lead guitar, along with John David Lipscomb on bass and Jon Epcar on drums.

So what is Carney? "We try to make music that's timeless," says Reeve , “Our music is an array of various styles drawn from rock, folk, reggae to blues”. So true; their songs can evoke thoughts of anything from Jeff Buckley, The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin to John Lennon and even Pink Floyd.

Carney’s live shows have become something of an event in LA. Their weekly packed shows at Molly Malone’s draw a crowd of fans that range from eager college students to trend-setting hipsters and industry heavyweights. The word-of-mouth is such that the room now systematically spills beyond its capacity.

Judas Priest - Nostradamus

April.22nd.2008 - Tuesday

Think ‘Double vinyl, gatefold sleeve concept album,’ and some of rock’s all-time classic recordings come to mind. But in the realm of heavy metal, there has never been a double vinyl (now disc!) concept album that has managed to balance a thought-provoking storyline with metallic thunder. That was, until now. Metal legends JUDAS PRIEST will be releasing their sprawling double disc concept album, ‘Nostradamus’ via Columbia Records on Monday, June 16th in the UK/Europe, and a day later in the US on Epic Records.

Long in the works, ‘Nostradamus’ takes epic storytelling to a whole new level, as it recounts the life of this mysterious, world-known 16th Century French prophet. Some of the events that Nostradamus experts have interpreted as his predictions include the great fire of London in 1666, the rise of Adolf Hitler, and most recently, 9-11, among countless other renowned events.

“As in any concept piece, the lifeline needs to be of a solid source, taking the music over many levels of interest and perception,” points out singer Rob Halford. “Nostradamus’ contains new frontiers explored and defined. The sense of adventure and the journey we undertook bringing the man’s life alive with metal was a real labour of love.”

As with all new Priest releases, the group - singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis - will embark on a mammoth worldwide tour in support of ‘Nostradamus.’ Priest will be performing at the 2008 Download Festival - on a bill also featuring Kiss - which will serve as a ‘homecoming’ of sorts for the group, as they performed at the first-ever ‘Monsters of Rock Festival’ at Donington Park in 1980.

Since 1974, Judas Priest has been one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, issuing such all-time classic albums as 1980’s ‘British Steel,’ 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ and 1990’s ‘Painkiller,’ and such arena-rocking anthems as “Breaking the Law,” “Living After Midnight,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.” However, Priest’s influence goes far beyond their music - they were the first metal band to embrace the ‘leather biker look,’ a fashion that has since become synonymous with the musical genre. Additionally, Halford’s powerful four-and-a-half octave vocal range and the twin guitar harmonies of Downing and Tipton have been ‘studied’ by countless metal bands in Priest’s wake.

“The 'Nostradamus' album - above all others - is perhaps the one I'm most proud of,” says Tipton. “Whilst in essence and character still very much Judas Priest, it has afforded the opportunity to explore areas of classical and operatic dimensions that the band normally wouldn't. As a guitarist and writer it has inspired me to greater heights and opened new doors to intrigue and passion. From start to finish, it will take you through a magical experience filled with light, shade, drama, melody and emotion that reflects this unique man and his life.”

“For me, ‘Nostradamus’ has been a musical journey without comparison,” adds Downing. “The intrigue and mystery that surrounds this revered man has expanded my perception of heavy metal to the highest plateau and enabled me to reach the outer limits of my imagination and transport unique feelings and emotions to the instrument that allows me to express myself.”

In addition to the regular jewel case double CD version of the album, collectors will undoubtedly be interested in hunting down a copy of a Deluxe Double CD housed in a 48 page hardbound book package. But that’s not all - a Super Deluxe Box-set version will also be available with triple vinyl, the double CD, an expanded booklet & a poster.

Most bands of this high stature would be happy to play it safe. But not Judas Priest, who continue to take chances and break new ground. No other rock band could have pulled off such a grand statement, and Judas Priest have raised the bar once more with ‘Nostradamus.’

As to why they chose to make a concept album about Nostradamus, Tipton explains: “We didn't - he chose us. We feel it was meant to be!”

10 Years - Division

Artist Release / Site Posting

There’s no shortage of good, timeless material on Division. "Actions and Motives" is a fist-pumping rocker interwoven with atmospheric guitar tendrils, the first single "Beautiful" is brooding and evocative, suffused with ringing, distorted guitars and melancholy harmonies and "Dying Youth" starts with a poignant classical guitar progression and yearning vocals before weeping strings and a stirring chorus take the track over the peak and somewhere between euphoria and despair. Then there’s "Alabama," a psychedelic-tinged song flavored with sitar, Indian percussion and acoustic guitar.

As refreshing, accomplished and united as Division sounds, there was a period when it looked like 10 Years might never finish the record. "The title of the album is self-explanatory in the sense that we had to become so divided as individuals - and as a group - to create this," Hasek explains. "Because we all have such strong personalities and opinions, we had many different directions to look at things from. But when we all came together as a unit, we were able to make our best music ever." The band felt the added pressure of growing as musicians while living up to the success of The Autumn Effect and its hit single "Wasteland."

Ultimately, 10 Years overcame their insecurities by worked together as a cohesive songwriting team, and vibing off each other instead of following anyone else’s advice.

"We got so fed up we just said, ..Forget everybody,’ and we started only listening to each other, which we hadn’t been doing at all," Vodinh says. "We didn’t care about each others opinions for a long time, and suddenly we all joined hands and said, ..We have to become a brotherhood again. We have to bond together.’ And that’s when everything finally took shape."

In June 2007, 10 Years entered a Seattle studio with producer Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, 3 Doors Down) and started tracking Division. Parasher was far more hands-on than Josh Abraham, who had produced The Autumn Effect, and, while it took a while to adjust to the change in approach, the band members benefited from his intense interest and experience. "Rick was in there every second of every day and he had a real vision," Vodinh says. "When we first got there, it wasn’t exactly the same vision we had, but we slowly found a medium where we could all be on the same page."
"It was through this album that we really found ourselves," "Hasek says. "We needed to really go through that hard time to really respect each other and the life and opportunity we’d been given. A lot of people get thrown into this kind of lifestyle and they just use it up real quick and take it for granted and then use it up and it’s gone. And they’re left scratching their heads going, ..What happened?’ I’m pretty sure now that’s never going to happen to us."

Creativity isn’t manufactured on an assembly line. It can’t be scheduled or forced and when it’s not coming there’s nothing to do but wait. That’s what the members of Knoxville, Tennessee quintet, 10 Years, discovered when they started writing songs for their second album, Division, the follow-up to their debut The Autumn Effect. Having spent the better part of two years on the road, the band members planned in October 2006 to take a month off and then dive back into writing mode. They aimed to re-enter the studio in early 2007 and have their second album done by that spring. But just a few weeks after they started coming up with riffs and melodies, it became clear they were going to have to throw away the calendar.

"We could have met our deadlines and gone into the studio in January," clarifies singer Jesse Hasek. "But we decided early on that we weren’t going to allow ourselves to run through the motions. We felt like we really needed to challenge ourselves and do something fresh and different. And that took a little longer than we expected."

As it turned out, Division was well worth the wait. Musically eclectic, technically adept and emotionally poignant, the songs shatter preconceptions, revealing a tapestry of previously unexplored influences and a larger array of stunning melodies. Like The Autumn Effect, the new album is filled with enveloping textures and heart-stopping dynamics, but the arrangements are more developed and the songwriting more mature, revealing a cavalcade of styles including metal, hard rock, punk, alternative pop and even classical. --- AMAZON

Mellencamp 2008 Summer Tour & New Album

April.16th.2008 - Wednesday

John Mellencamp will begin his summer tour this July on top of the release of his 23rd career album, Life, Death, Love and Freedom. The greatly anticipated tour kicks off on Tuesday, July 8th at Philadelphia’s Mann Music Center with more dates to follow that will bring John and the band to play on both coasts as well as the middle of the country over the course of almost four weeks on the road. It’s the iconic artist’s first tour since his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.

Mellencamp and his touring band will be highlighting new songs from the album as well as a broad spectrum of repertoire reflecting four decades of recording and touring. Tour markets include Boston, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles and others. Mellencamp began performing unreleased songs from Life, Death, Love and Freedom, last year within his concert set. The new songs were enthusiastically received by audiences and critics, alike, in the American Midwest, North East as well as across Canada.

Writing in the Grand Rapids Press, John Sinkevics noted, “Mellencamp expertly straddled that line all night long – delivering the expected as well as the surprising.”

The Calgary Herald’s Eric Volmers wrote, “New songs, like a soaring rocker with a stirring anti-racism message, showed that the songwriter is still an artist, not merely a jukebox.”

Jeffrey Lee Puckett, in his Louisville Courier-Journal review, observed, “Instead of the youthful rebelliousness of decades past, I saw an artist, parent and American who is pondering what will be left for future generations expressing genuine concerns about what tomorrow will bring. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such raw emotional vulnerability from an arena artist who has sold millions of records.”

The Saskatoon Star Phoenix called Mellencamp “the Poet Laureate of the Interstate” while The Nation suggested, “Mellencamp has repeatedly taken career-risking anti-war, anti-racist and anti-poverty stands that other celebrities of his stature tend to avoid.”

Following a recent benefit for New York’s Housing Works, Jon Pareles wrote in the New York Times, “...he hasn’t forgotten his insolent guitar riffs or the defiant streak [that] he now channels into populist convictions.”

Mellencamp and the band, consisting of Mike Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Miriam Sturm (violin), Dane Clark (drums), Jon Gunnell (bass), and Troye Kinnett (keyboards) recorded Life, Death, Love and Freedom at Mellencamp’s Belmont Mall studio, near Bloomington, Indiana, working with producer T Bone Burnett.

Three time Grammy® Award winner Lucinda Williams will be on the concert bill for most of the upcoming Mellencamp dates.

In keeping with a policy that started more than ten years ago, members of the official John Mellencamp fan club, Club Cherry Bomb, will be offered early access to premium concert tickets and concert ticket packages via an internet pre-sale available through John's website Mellencamp.com

The new album Life, Death, Love and Freedom will hit stores July 15th, 2008.

With the arrival of The Clash Live: Revolution Rock in stores on April 15, Clash fans in the following cities will have the unique opportunity to experience the full-length DVD cut of the film on the big screen:

New York Chelsea Cinemas
San Diego Ultrastar Mission Valley 7
San Luis Obispo The Downtown Center Cinema
Indianapolis Showplace 16
Chicago Showplace 12

Seattle Metro Cinemas
San Francisco Opera Plaza Cinema

Produced by longtime Clash collaborator Don Letts, The Clash Live: Revolution Rock seamlessly weaves together 22 definitive live concert and studio performances from 1977 to 1983 capturing the groundbreaking British
band who established and expanded the power of punk-rock in the 1970s, 1980s and beyond.

The Clash Live: Revolution Rock follows the live transformation of the band, incorporating footage from all phases of the Clash's meteoric career, beginning with live-in-the-studio clips from 1979, crescendoing with triumphant concerts from clubland (London's The Music Machine, 1978) and theatres (the Lyceum, 1978, 1980), and climaxing with an transcendent blow-out, opening for The Who at New York's Shea Stadium in 1982.

The film also contains two television interviews dating from June 1981, when the Clash were in New York City playing an historic three-week, 17-show run at Bond's International Casino on Times Square. The first interview is with Tom Snyder on The Tomorrow Show, his long-running late-night NBC network staple, the second with local New York news anchor Sue Simmons on WNBC's Live At 5 broadcast.

The Clash Live: Revolution Rock is the perfect way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Clash, the once-and-future "Only Band That Matters."

Frontiers Records - Honeymoon Suite, Starbreaker, Hugo/Ramos....

April.10th.2008 - Thursday

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of the recently reunited Canadian Melodic Rock Godz HONEYMOON SUITE, for the release of their forthcoming, yet untitled, studio album.

In June 2007, the band officially announced the return of the line-up featuring all five original band members: Johnnie Dee on vocals, Derry Grehan on guitar, Ray Coburn on keyboards, Dave Betts on drums and Gary Lalonde on bass.

The new album has been recorded during the cold Canadian winter and is currently in the mixing stages. Some of the new track titles are "The House", "Separate Lives", "That's All You Got", "Sunday Morning" and "Tired of Waitin' On You".

"There are 8 straight ahead rockers and the other 4 are interesting mid-tempo type songs" says Derry Grehan, adding "this album goes back much more to the original HMS melodic hard-rock sound that the band had in the eighties. The songs have big melodic choruses and are thick with lots of guitar and keyboards. Johnnie is singing better than ever and I think fans will love this one. I am very excited". And so is the label, that is planning to release the new album within the end of the summer 2008.

STARBREAKER
Tony Harnell (TNT, Westworld, Morning Wood), Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN / LANDE and PRIMAL FEAR) and John Macaluso (Malmsteen, TNT, Ark) have wrapped up recording for the much-anticipated new Starbreaker CD entitled "Love's Dying Wish". Written and produced by Harnell and Karlsson, the tracks have now been handed over to respected producer Tommy Hansen (TNT, Jorn) for mixing. Some of the titles include "Unknown Superstar", "End Of Alone", "Love's Dying Wish", "Evaporate" and "Beautiful Disaster".

New bassist Jonni Lightfoot (a touring and recording veteran with extensive credits to his name) has added a tasteful aggressive touch to this magnificent piece of work and compliments Macaluso's flashy drumming perfectly. This is a very special album that leaps forward from where the Starbreaker debut left off. With a fresh diversity that spans from pounding metal, to deep moody passages wrapped in a dark and beautifully melodic package. The stunning talents of Harnell and Karlsson are on display here in spades with electrifying performances and stellar song writing. These two have truly developed a unique and timeless sound together.
Release expected this fall.

HUGO / RAMOS
The exciting and highly anticipated new album from the RAMOS / HUGO project, featuring former TWO FIRES and HARDLINE axeman Josh Ramos together with VALENTINE singer Hugo Valenti is going to be mixed during April. The songs written include (in no particular order): All That I Wanted; Bring Back This Love; Fool's Game; I Can't Get You Off My Mind; I Don't Wanna Say Goodbye; If I Can Take You; The Dream; Tomorrow; When You Get Lonely; You're Not Alone. Fans of classic AOR music in the style of JOURNEY / THE STORM, will be delighted with this cd which is scheduled for release in the late summer / early fall 2008.

Bryan Adams - 11, Pennywise - Reason To Believe

Bryan Adams "11" To Be Released Exclusively Via Wal-Mart

Billboard.com

Bryan Adams' latest album, "11," will be released May 13 exclusively via Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores in the U.S. The set has been out internationally since last month on Universal.

Adams recorded his entire career for A&M until 2004's "Room Service," which wasn't released in the States until the following year via Mercury. It has sold just 44,000 units here, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Like his last studio outing, 2004's "Room Service," Adams recorded the new songs in hotel rooms and other locales while on the road. "I bring out an engineer, everything fits into a suitcase and we just record," he told Billboard.com last year. "I have so much spare time during that day that it makes sense to utilize it to do something creative like that, as opposed to just sitting around the hotel and sightseeing or something."

Adams described "11" as "quite a personal record" that was influenced by his travels. "It's inevitable that some of this is gonna wear off on you," he said. "You travel around and you think about the things you do when you're traveling (and) it's going to wear off on what you write about."

As previously reported, the artist will open the first seven dates of Rod Stewart's summer North American amphitheatre tour, beginning July 30 in Paso Robles, Calif. Adams is presently on tour in South America.

Clay Aiken - On My Way Here (Press Release)

April.4th.2008 - Friday

Multi-platinum selling pop singer Clay Aiken will release his fourth album, On My Way Here, on RCA Records/19 Entertainment on May 6th, 2008. The collection is the 29-year-old Raleigh, NC, native's first album of original songs since his 2003 chart-topping, double- platinum debut Measure of a Man.

On My Way Here chronicles Aiken's experiences over the past five years, ascending from popular contestant on the second season of American Idol to pop superstar. The album's theme came to Aiken when he and his executive producer Jaymes Foster fell in love with a song written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder called "On My Way Here." The message of the lyrics -- how the lessons we learn while growing up shape us into who we become as adults -- struck a very deep chord with the artist. The title track "On My Way Here" will be the first radio single from the album to be released later this month. Additionally the single, "On My Way Here" will premiere as an "AOL First Listen" on Monday, April 7th.

"I thought if we could find songs that relate to what's gone on in my life over the past five years and address what I've learned from my experiences, it would be a great concept for my album," Aiken says. "Since I got into this business, I've learned so much about myself. I think this album covers how far I've come, personally and professionally."

The chance to record new material was an opportunity Aiken didn't want to miss. His previous two albums, 2004's Merry Christmas with Love (which went platinum within six weeks of its release) and 2006's gold-certified A Thousand Different Ways, featured 10 cover versions of well-known songs popularized by Celine Dion, Elton John, and Dolly Parton. Aiken's vocal performances on songs like "As Long as We're Here," about not waiting until it's too late to tell someone you love them, and "The Real Me," about being in the public eye, resonate with the kind of emotion that can only come from someone who's experienced this firsthand. "Although," Aiken says, "it was important to me that the songs be interpretable in all kinds of ways. People should be able to find their own meaning in the lyrics."

On My Way Here will be released just as Aiken finishes up his Broadway run playing Sir Robin in the Tony Award-winning musical Monty Python's Spamalot. Since January, Aiken has spent his days in the recording studio with On My Way Here's Grammy Award-winning British producer Kipper (Sting, Chris Botti), and his nights onstage in Spamalot. "I guess I'm a glutton for punishment," he says with a laugh.

Steve Winwood - Nine Lives

Press Release

The legendary singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Steve Winwood has signed a new deal with Columbia Records who will release the artist's highly-anticipated new major label album, "Nine Lives," on Tuesday, April 29.

The eagerly-awaited "Nine Lives" is Winwood's first full-length studio album since About Time, released on Winwood's own independent label, Wincraft, in 2003; and it opens an important new chapter in Steve's extraordinary career. The musician also recently announced that he will head out on a national tour with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers this summer for shows across the U.S.

Each of the nine tracks on the aptly-titled "Nine Lives" paints a musical portrait of spiritual transformation as Winwood continues the exploration of soul, rock, blues and world music which began in 1957, when, at the age of 9, he played guitar in his father's band in Birmingham, England.

Songs on "Nine Lives" include "I'm Not Drowning," "Fly," "Raging Sea," "Dirty City," "We're All Looking," "Hungry Man," "Secrets," "At Times We Do Forget," and "Other Shore." Additionally, fellow musical legend Eric Clapton lends guitar work to "Dirty City."

News of Steve Winwood's "Nine Lives" comes in the wake of a transcendent live collaboration between Winwood and his erstwhile Blind Faith bandmate Eric Clapton at the Chicago Crossroads Guitar Festival in July 2007. The pair's staggering on-stage chemistry in Chicago led to the announcement of three historic Steve Winwood & Eric Clapton concerts at New York's fabled Madison Square Garden, scheduled for February 25, 26 and 28, 2008. Tickets for all three of Winwood's MSG shows with Clapton sold-out within minutes of their release.

Johnny Solinger - May 6.....

Artist Release

Johnny Solinger, lead singer for SKID ROW, plans to release an album of his own material in 2008 that will draw more upon his Texas-born country influences such as Hank Williams Sr. and Merle Haggard. Johnny Solinger first broke onto the scene when he formed the band SOLINGER in Dallas, Texas. SOLINGER played the regional circuit, enjoying success in Texas and throughout the West. In January of 2000, Johnny was invited to join the multi-platinum rock band SKID ROW, immediately embarking on a nine-month tour with KISS just weeks later. To date, Johnny Solinger has toured the world many times over and recorded two records with SKID ROW, Thickskin, and the latest release entitled Revolutions Per Minute, which was released in October of 2006 and is in stores worldwide. 2008 sees Johnny pursuing something that's been running through his veins his whole life... country music. On his latest solo material he proclaims... "Aside from SKID ROW, I've been recording some country tunes as well (hell, I AM from Texas), and while it might seem odd to have such drastic tastes in music, it seems perfectly natural to me." The direction is subliminally evident in the country-soaked ditty that snuck its way onto Revolutions Per Minute entitled "You Lie," and more Johnny Solinger country music is on its way. Teaming up with some of the greatest players Texas has to offer, including guitarist David Grissom (Dixie Chicks, Storyville), bassist Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughn, Double Trouble) and many more... Johnny Solinger is sure to make a big noise in the Texas country music scene in the years to come.

Other digital outlets such as iTunes will have the full album starting May 6th.

The first single, "Too Well To Go To Work" is currently climbing the Texas Music Charts and can be heard on quality country radio stations all over the region.

Costello & John Team Up

Press Release

"Spectacle: Elvis Costello with..." will be hosted by its namesake and produced in conjunction with Sir Elton John's Rocket Pictures. Elton John will be one of the program's Executive Producers.

The series will air beginning later this year, on CTV in Canada, Channel 4 in the UK and Sundance Channel in the US. FremantleMedia Enterprises, will handle sales of the show to the rest of the world.

Conceived to provide a forum for in-depth discussion and performance with the most interesting and influential artists and personalities of our time, the show fuses the best of talk and music television.

"Spectacle: Elvis Costello with..." promises to be an unpredictable and unprecedented television experience. The series of 13 one-hour programs will feature everything from intimate one-on-ones with legendary performers and notable newcomers to thematic panel discussions, with a variety of performance elements including unique collaborations, acoustic and impromptu "illustrative" demonstrations of the creative process, and some original interpretations of others' songs by Costello.

The program's eclecticism and depth reflect its uniquely qualified host. Elvis Costello is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee; a Grammy and Ivor Novello Award-winning (and Oscar-nominated) songwriter and performer comfortable in almost every genre imaginable; a musicologist of formidable breadth and knowledge; a contributor to Vanity Fair Magazine; and a noted wit whose stint as guest host on The Late Show with David Letterman won rave reviews.

Explaining his approach to the program, Elvis said, "I'm not interested in extracting some dark secret. I'd rather hear about a bright secret, a deep love or a curiosity that might be otherwise obscured by fame. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk in complete thoughts about music, movies, art or even vaudeville, then frame it with unique and illustrative performances."

Executive Producer Sir Elton John added, "Elvis Costello is the foremost expert on popular music. I thought it would be sensational to use his knowledge and intelligence to explore the artistry of musicians and other fascinating people involved in making great music, as well as true music aficionados."

Velvet Revolver Part Ways With Weiland

April.2nd.2008 - Wednesday

After feuding publicly for the past two weeks, Velvet Revolver and frontman Scott Weiland have officially parted ways, according to a statement from founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner.

"This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," Slash said in a statement issued today (April 1). "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

No further details were available at deadline. Velvet Revolver is in the midst of playing its last show with Weiland at Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

In the weeks leading up to the split, an online feud erupted between Weiland and drummer Sorum, following recent onstage remarks made by the singer, who reportedly said the European trek would be the band's last ever.

Weiland Fires Back...
"I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth," he says. "The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun ... at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name)."

Returning to STP, he says, will be a stark contrast to playing with "a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang." And in a final dig, Weiland weighed in on Velvet Revolver's hunt for a new singer: "I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice," he said.

Velvet Revolver played their last show with Weiland last night (April 1) in Amsterdam. Stone Temple Pilots' first appearance will be in mid-May at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Are You Ready?

April.1st.2008 - Tuesday

Following two months of rumors that New Kids on the Block might be back on the block, the '80s boy band is slated to appear on the April 4 edition of NBC's "Today" show.

The network appearance was reported March 31 by People magazine's Web site, where the first reports of a reunion for the erstwhile teen dreams were posted in late January. Reports that the Boston-based quintet would launch a comeback have been rising in pitch and frequency since, which was underscored by the unveiling of a redesigned NKOTB official Web site saluting Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre.

Switchfoot - Fan Club....

Email

We are extremely grateful for the community of friends that we've met along the way through these songs. Many of you have played a vital role in inspiring us to do what we do. We've always looked for ways to connect beyond just the songs and the shows. This is why we began putting out a free video podcast (now 32 episodes and counting!), the daily foot photo journal, the switchfeed news feed on our homepage, the live studio camera, and our all-new message-board community. For us, music has always been about communication, and keeping the dialogue going long after the guitars have stopped ringing. In addition to all of this, many of you have been requesting, for lack of a better term, a fan club of sorts (maybe a "fam" club?), and after much planning and brainstorming, we are extremely excited to bring to you "Friends of the Foot."

What this IS:
A way for us to provide something extra for those that want it -- a way to say hi at the shows without having to wait outside the venue; a way to see what happens on tour and in the studio on a larger scale, with updates on an almost-daily basis; access to rare out-takes, and other downloads that a casual listener may not appreciate. This is simply a way to do more, without taking anything away from what we already do.

What this IS NOT:
an elite club or clique. This is not about who has and has not. This is not about who is a real fan and who isn't. This is not a dividing line in the middle of our great community. This is simply a way for us to provide a higher level of content and dialogue for those who want it.

We are extremely grateful for everyone that listens to these songs, everyone who sings along, and everyone who believes that these tunes could be part of a story much larger than ourselves. Whether you are a friend of the foot, or simply a friend, we are honored to have you as part of our family.

FOTF Tour Pass
This is the most exciting part of the club for us, because it allows us to be able to meet YOU at the show! Official Switchfoot tour laminate gives you early access to ALL headlining shows when available. NO MORE WAITING IN LINES.

Best Of Bootlegs Vol. 1
Exclusive, limited edition, autographed copy of Best Of Bootlegs Vol. 1. This AUTOGRAPHED CD will ONLY be made available to FRIENDS OF THE FOOT.

FOTF t shirt
There's no such thing as a club that doesn't have its own tshirt, so our good friend Andy put together this exclusive, limited edition t-shirt.

10% discount in ONLINE store
Your account will immediately be enabled to receive 10% off on ALL Switchfoot purchases in the Online Store (items already on sale not included).

Exclusive content & downloads
As we begin working on our new album this summer, we wanted to figure out a way to bring our fans "into the studio" with us. Receive special access to the band in the studio... interviews, song clips, video clips, as well as access to the band on the road. Exclusive downloads for you fine folks at various times throughout the year!
