Hagar/Satriani/Smith/Anthony = Chickenfoot?

Sammy Hagar has a new supergroup that includes a virtuoso guitarist and a fellow Van Halen alumnus, but fans eager to see the so-called Red Rocker sing alongside the six-string hero he's most famously associated with shouldn't hold their breath.

It seems a peace settlement in the war of wills between Hagar and Eddie Van Halen could be years away, if it arrives at all.

"I love Eddie, but we don't love each other," Hagar said during an interview Thursday.

"I heard that he got cleaned up again. Hopefully he stays that way and doesn't die, because before we both die we have to be friends again.

"But like I said, people have to be level-headed and have to be healthy before you can settle a feud."

Eddie Van Halen's battles with drug and alcohol addiction are legend, marring past shows with Hagar and delaying the start last year of a reunion tour with original singer, and Hagar's predecessor, David Lee Roth.

Instead of waiting for that friendship to be repaired, Hagar has teamed with acclaimed guitarist Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer Chad Smith, and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony. The group, code-named Chickenfoot, will enter the recording studio just before Labor Day.

"We've written eight, nine songs. We just got to go in the studio Sept. 1," Hagar said.

"When people hear the music, it's Led Zeppelin. It's as good as that. I know that's a mighty bold statement... We could rival Zep."

Hagar, 60, stills looks remarkably like he did during his time with Van Halen - suntanned and goateed with that trademark mop of curly blonde hair.

In town following a show at Casino Rama, north of Toronto, with his "party band" The Wabos, Hagar took up residence for the day in a downtown hotel to promote his latest career turn as a spirits connoisseur.

Halen fans are no doubt familiar with the song "Cabo Wabo", a track from the multi-platinum 1988 album "OU812" that sang the virtues of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Hagar's love of all that is Cabo has seen him open cantinas bearing the name, and now he's spending the summer selling Cabo Wabo Tequila.

The brand, with its origins in Hagar's desire to serve a local, high-end tequila at his cantina in Cabo San Lucas, grew over the years, eventually gaining recognition and robust sales in the United States. Last year, Hagar sold an 80 per cent stake in the company to multinational spirits company Campari for a reported US$80 million.

"It wasn't planned. All this happened step by step. Every time I turned around there was a new opportunity for it," Hagar said.

"Everyone thought it was a gimmick. It's an expensive tequila (a 750 ml bottle retails for $71.20 in Canada). They thought, what does this guy know about premium tequila?"

Apparently Hagar has even convinced bassist Anthony, who was known for drinking Jack Daniels whisky straight from the bottle onstage during his Van Halen years, to quaff his tequila while performing.

The two have remained close, and perform together often, since the Hagar incarnation of Halen finally folded after a reunion in the late 1990s.

When the band reunited last year to tour with original singer David Lee Roth, Anthony was replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang.

Although it's "great that they finally did the reunion with Dave," Hagar said he had no desire to take in the show.

"Mikey should have been there. It's ridiculous," he said.

"(Seeing the show) just wouldn't interest me in the least, all the hoopla and all that around something without it being the original."

As for the Van Halen vs. Van Hagar debate, Hagar is content to let the fans choose their favorite and listen to the old recordings.

"I'm really not interested in being in that band right now. I'm so much more interested in our little Chickenfoot project," Hagar said.

"To me that's 10 times Van Halen, because it's functional, we all like each other."

CANDLEBOX make their triumphant return to the modern music game this summer with their first new record in ten
years. "Into The Sun" will be released July 22 on Silent Majority Group in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group. The band will be hitting the road this summer starting June 4th at The Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA to support the effort.

The original CANDLEBOX songwriting team of singer Kevin Martin and guitarist Peter Klett along with original drummer
Scott Mercado, reunited shortly before the 2006 Rhino/Warner Brothers retrospective, "Best Of Candlebox", was released.

CANDLEBOX's 2008 lineup features three of the founding four members — only bass player Bardi Martin has been replaced by Adam Kury.

After being apart for more than 7 years, Martin and Klett discovered that the time and tide apart had nurtured enhanced chemistry and mutual personal evolution that has now manifested in a cache of new songs that leave their past works, for lack of a better phrase, far behind.

"Into The Sun" was produced by Ron Aniello (BARENAKED LADIES, LIFEHOUSE) engineered by Cliff Norrell (REM, HENRY ROLLINS) and mixed by Norrell and Mike Shipley (NICKELBACK, DEF LEPPARD). Kevin Martin (vocals) and Peter Klett (guitar) Scott Mercado (drums) and Adam Kury (bass) have come together to make a bold, eclectic mix of rhythms and textures that will make long-time CANDLEBOX fans mouths water and has the potential to vault this band back into the national spotlight. Remember, this is a band that's sold over six million albums in the U.S. alone. Kevin Martin: "I really feel this is our best work to date, seemed like old times in the studio and I really enjoyed making this record. When we started writing the songs for this record back in '07 I think we all felt like we were on to something special. I think you can hear that in the songs, they just speak to you like an old friend you haven't seen in years but are so happy to be able to catch up with."

Peter Klett: "Making this record reminded me of the first album — we didn't feel that we needed to find the sound, it was there and the goal was to capture it in the recording. Allen Shellenberger, Drummer For Rock Band Lit, Diagnosed With Brain Tumor

Allen Shellenberger, 38 year-old drummer for Orange County rock band Lit, has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Lit made an initial announcement over their website on May 5th that a brain tumor had been discovered and the band was canceling their European tour dates with KISS. Biopsy results identified Shellenberger's cancer as malignant glioma. According to the National Cancer Institute, malignant glioma affects approximately 10,000 Americans per year. It is the same type of cancer Senator Edward M. Kennedy is battling. Allen's symptoms prior to diagnosis included numbness and tingling in the left side of his body.

Shellenberger is under the care of world-renowned neurosurgeons Dr. Hunt and Dr. Black at the Cedars-Sinai Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute where he is pursuing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Despite the news, Allen is in good spirits and committed to the fight.

Lit, who has been both a brotherhood and a band for over 20 years, has enjoyed multi-platinum success and chart-topping singles including "My Own Worst Enemy," "Miserable," and others. After two decades together the band continues to write, record and tour. "Allen's young and healthy and if anyone has a chance to beat this, it's him," says Lit guitarist Jeremy Popoff. "As sad and scared as we all are, we're standing by him and staying positive. We're going to fight this together."

Guitarist Michelle Meldrum Of Metal Band Meldrum Passes Away

On May 18, Michelle Meldrum, leader of the band Meldrum and former Phantom Blue guitarist, was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank in critical condition. She passed away late afternoon Wednesday, May 21, 2008 as a result of a cystic growth on her brain that had restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain rendering her brain dead.

Meldrum had just completed writing and recording the bands soon to be released album with drummer Gene Hoglan, along with the new lineup Michele Madden (vocals) and Laura Christine (bass). The surviving band members plan to release the album later this year in tribute to their fallen band-mate.

Those who knew Michelle recognize that she lived every moment for the music, and was regarded as both an exceptional guitarist and a nurturer by her associates, friends, family and son.

Meldrum, 39, is survived by her parents and three year old son, Jake Thomas. Her family and band members appreciate all the support that has been shown over the past few days through this trying time. A memorial tribute benefit will be announced in the following weeks.

Michelle Meldrum was born on Sept 28, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan to a family of musicians and actors. At 13, Meldrum moved to Los Angeles, California and started her career in music by forming the thrash metal band WARGOD with drummer Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL, DEATH, and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD). When WARGOD disbanded Meldrum continued her search for a band and become both co-founder and lead guitarist in all metal/rock band PHANTOM BLUE. PHANTOM BLUE released their self-titled debut album on Shrapnel Records as well as Roadrunner Records, and eventually landed a deal with major label Geffen.

Once PHANTOM BLUE disbanded after a successful run at fame, Michelle Meldrum moved to Sweden and formed her current band MELDRUM. After many triumphant tours with such acts as MOTÖRHEAD and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, she reunited with Hoglan in 2006. Hoglan had appeared as a special guest on the MELDRUM album prior and played several events. Inspired to once again collaborate, Meldrum moved back to America where she and Hoglan began writing the aforementioned third MELDRUM album together.

A memorial fund has been set up through Paypal for donations to her family and son to help offset expenses at MichelleMeldrumFund@gmail.com.

VH1 has just confirmed that critically acclaimed, multi-platinum rock bands Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters along with the Grammy Award-winning rock band The Flaming Lips will perform at the network's third annual "VH1 Rock Honors" celebration honoring legendary rock band The Who.

This year's event will deliver a night of high-voltage tribute performances by the three bands all leading up to the spectacular grand finale performance by The Who as they rock the stage. Additional performers, presenters and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed. As a result of The Who's revolutionary and era-defining influence on rock music, this will be the first "VH1 Rock Honors" that salutes just one band.

Taping in Los Angeles at the Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA on July 12, "VH1 Rock Honors: The Who" will premiere on Thursday, July 17 at 9pm* on VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD. VH1.com will also offer select performances from the show leading up to and following the on-air premiere at Rock.VH1.com. The Who's monumental legacy will be celebrated with a 2-hour tribute that will salute the music and the lasting impact of this groundbreaking band. The influence of The Who will be felt through spoken tributes, filmed packages and performances by some of today's premiere rock acts as well as the legends themselves.

On Friday, June 6, tickets will go on sale to WHOLIGANS, members of The Who Fan Club (thewho.com). The general public on sale will be on Sunday, June 8. All tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster. Chicago - Stone Of Sisyphus

In his book, The Greatest Music Never Sold, author Dan Leroy writes about the Stone Of Sisyphus, the great lost Chicago album. Recorded in 1993 and produced by Peter Wolf, Sisyphus became a cult record immediately after Warner Bros. refused to release it because it wasn't the Chicago record that was expected. Knowing what they had created and not willing to compromise, the band left Warner Bros. and took the album with them.

Powered by Chicago's celebrated horn section, the tracks on SISYPHUS have bite, power and swing, and the "fire in the belly" that one associates usually with debut albums. The songs touch on a wide range of styles and moods, including the energetic horn-driven title track, "Stone Of Sisyphus," the cool funk groove of "Mah-Jong," the anti-corporate rock broadside "Plaid," the touching emotional lyrics of "The Pull" and Robert Lamm's rap on "Sleeping In The Middle Of The Bed." "Bigger Than Elvis" features contributions from musicians who worked with "The King" himself, including The Jordinaires and Jerry Scheff (father of Chicago bassist Jason Scheff).

"We wrote songs that were more experimental, songs that were more daring in terms of musical direction and chord construction, more than anything," remembers James Pankow, whose innovative horn charts had been an integral part of Chicago's distinctive sound from the start. "We got into really feeling our oats in terms of being the voice of Chicago again. It had been a long time since we had made a record like that."

Looking back, the band members wish they had found a way to release SISYPHUS sooner, but there is intense pride in having stood up for their creative integrity -- a Chicago trademark. While Sisyphus became an underground classic, widely bootlegged by fans, Chicago continued to defy music business conventions by forming their own record company, and recording hugely successful big band and holiday records before it was the fashion.

To date, Chicago's remarkable achievements include a Grammy Award, record sales that exceed 100,000,000, including 21 Top 10 singles, five consecutive #1 albums, five #1 singles, 13 platinum albums and five gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 30 albums have been certified platinum, and Chicago is the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five decades.

The Nelson Brothers announced today The Ricky Nelson Remembered Tour starring Matthew & Gunnar Nelson and The Stone Canyon Band will be coming to the famed Boardwalk for six shows June 1-5, 2008 to the Atlantic City Hilton.

Matthew Nelson and Gunnar Nelson are the identical twin sons of Rock'n'Roll Legend Ricky Nelson, of rock group NELSON whose pop/rock #1 hits include "Love and Affection", "After the Rain", and "More Than Ever" will perform at 7 p.m. nightly on Sunday, June 1st, through Thursday, June 5th with one matinee show performance on Tuesday, June 3rd at 2 p.m.

"Ricky Nelson Remembered" is a unique tribute to their late father's popular music including all his chart topping famous hits such as Ricky Nelson's "Travelin' Man", "Hello Mary Lou", "Poor Little Fool", "I'm Walking" and "Garden Party". The full production show starring the grandsons of TV's Ozzie & Harriet Nelson also features a unique "Nelson Family" visual experience.

"On a musical level, we love performing the Ricky Nelson classic hits... the songs are legendary for a reason: they're wonderful songs," says Matthew Nelson, "And at the same time, on a personal level, performing his music on this tour makes us feel closer to him with every show."

Sugarland - Love On The Inside

Mercury Nashville's super duo Sugarland will release their third studio album entitled, LOVE ON THE INSIDE, July 22. Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush co-wrote all 13 tracks and have teamed up with Byron Gallimore again to produce.

Sugarland will premiere the album's debut single "All I Want To Do" live on the Academy of Country Music awards (ACM) which will air on CBS at 8pm EDT on May 18. The new single will ship digitally to radio across the country immediately following their performance, which promises to be a showstopper.

The world premiere of the music video for "All I Want To Do", which was shot in Hawaii and directed by Shaun Silva ("Stay"), will be featured on Yahoo (www.yahoo.com/music) after their live ACM performance.

The video's first television broadcast appearance will debut on CMT and CMT.com, as well as GAC on Monday, May 19th

"We've been playing some of the new songs during our live shows," says lead singer Nettles. "The fans have been so responsive. We couldn't wait to get the whole album to them. I am more excited about this album than any other that I've recorded thus far," continued Nettles. "It is special to us and has a lot of emotion, heart, laughter, tears and love on the inside!"

"LOVE ON THE INSIDE is just that...it is a recording full of love," Bush says. "It's in the strings and wood of the instruments, in the vocal chords, in the hearts that beat behind them and in the words that flood out through them into microphones. Our hope is that new Sugarland fans and old ones alike will hear this album and feel like the soundtrack to their life is magically playing in front of them."

This third release is the follow up to their two previous, multi platinum-selling records Enjoy The Ride and Twice The Speed Of Life.

The DVD features full stage footage of Henry, Dave, Michael, Kirk, Mike and Erik in the last performance with this line up.

This was NOT a professional shoot, but was done with a tripod and a good quality digital and is very steady. The music is great, a fully captured live show! Do expect to hear crowd noises and see the occasional cheering fan near the front of the stage

It also includes some fun footage from the sound check, including Dave singing ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WILL, and THE BLUEST EYES IN TEXAS.

EXTREME will make their much-anticipated return to the stage this summer in support of Saudades de Rock (pronounced "sow-dodge"), their first studio album in thirteen years. The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band's 2008 'TAKE US ALIVE' world tour gets underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and will be anchored by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of America Pavilion. In advance of the tour, EXTREME will be a co-headliner on July 11th at the five day Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, OK.

The iconic rock foursome – vocalist GARY CHERONE, guitarist NUNO BETTENCOURT, bassist PAT BADGER and new drummer KEVIN FIGUEIREDO – will be supported by King's X on all North American dates. Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp will offer additional support .. dates.

Information on the groundbreaking new album Saudades de Rock-- which was produced by BETTENCOURT at L.A.'s NRG studios and is planned for release to coincide with the tour--is forthcoming. Fans can expect the same unwavering songcraft and diverse musical approach that made EXTREME legendary. Simply put, EXTREME's fifth studio offering– which boasts the infectious roar of "STAR," the groove-laden, swagger of "KING", a raw funk rock anthem called "LEARN TO LOVE", and the expressive ballad "GHOST"–just may be its finest hour yet.

As excited as the members of EXTREME are by their latest musical accomplishment, they can't wait to take it to the stage. "As much as we enjoy recording, for me, I've always loved playing live for the fans," CHERONE says. "We can't wait to get out there and play this music."

"We wanted to record as much of the new album as possible live in the studio," BETTENCOURT adds. "And because of it, these songs will translate easily to the stage. We're really looking forward to getting out on tour, putting on a show. That's really where the band shines."

"We always knew EXTREME was special," the guitarist says of the completion of EXTREME's long-awaited fifth album. "We always knew it was a matter of time."

The Grammy-nominated EXTREME have released four studio albums to date, plus a greatest hits set. Selling over 10 million records worldwide on the strength of multiple world tours, the group achieved a 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1991 with "More Than Words". Culled from their 1990 multi-platinum album, EXTREME II: Pornograffitti, the disc also produced the Top 5 hit "Hole Hearted."

Although these two acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, they overshadowed the band's trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their predecessors in Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen. VH1 Classic - New Video Countdown Series

Now available in 55 million households, VH1 Classic today announces "VH1 Classic One Hit Wonders" and "VH1 Classic All Time Top 10" as part of a new slate of week-long video-based series set to premiere this Fall. These themed series will include eight to 10 60-minute episodes each focused on a specific theme or genre of music. Additional series will be announced in the coming months.

Hosted by Carrie Keagan, the "VH1 Classic One-Hit Wonders," series will salute the biggest one-hit music phenomenons in various VH1 Classic categories including Metal, Rap, 70s, New Wave and more. They're the songs you can't help but sing...and the music videos you love to watch.

In addition, VH1 Classic will let the viewers choose the biggest and best rock videos with "VH1 Classic All Time Top 10." Later this summer, viewers will be able to vote at VH1Classic.com on everything from the best rock bands of all time to the best Van Halen video. Hosted by Mark Goodman, each episode will focus on an artist or genre such as Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, 80s, female singers, rock bands and more.

Sabrina Korva - Hold Onto Myself - Debut EP

21-year-old Sabrina Korva was performing at age 7, on stage singing a duet with Bryan Adams at 13 and co-writing with successful hit makers throughout her teens. This stylish singer/songwriter is about to release her debut EP Hold Onto Myself with songs produced by Jim Huff (Edwin, Headstones), Mike K, CJ Eiriksson (Matchbox 20, Rob Zombie), and Michael Raphael (NEVE).

The title track "Hold Onto Myself" is one of Korva's favorites. "It's the most fun to play live. It's basically about someone who's completely lost their soul and control of their life. It's a topical theme I think everyone's seen at some point." "Suffocated" was the first song Korva wrote with songwriter/guitarist/producer Jim Huff. "The chorus was one of those magical ones that write themselves," says Korva, "it was literally one of us playing the guitar, him singing the first line of the chorus, then both of us singing the rest of it together. For the first time, we both heard the exact same thing at the same moment, it was just meant to be."

In addition to the incredible producers and songwriters that contributed to her new EP, Korva has worked with Todd Kerns (Static In Stereo, Age Of Electric), Chin Injetti (Snow, Moka Only), Mark Olexson (Matt Good, 54-40), Dean Truitt (Color), Riche Zahniser (SouthBase), Curt Cuomo (KISS, Eddie Money, John Corabi), Kelly Moneymaker (Expose, Days Of Our Lives), Jason Rowe, Derek Schram (Juice), Sean Kelly (Crash Kelly), MOBILE and Gary Slayton.

Although Korva is greatly influenced by classic rockers Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Queen, Heart, AC/DC, Guns n Roses and Bon Jovi, she studied classical piano (and some jazz) for 10 years at The Royal Conservatory Of Music. With determination Korva also juggled high school, figure skating, ballet, voice lessons, flute, bass and guitar. Recently graduating from BCIT's Radio Broadcasting program, working on air at Evolution 107.9 FM and attending festivals like Canadian Music Week for many years, she is learning the behind the scenes music business to prepare for her career.

Korva's songwriting style has progressed over the years. "I started out writing pop in my teens, then I got into classic rock and wrote a lot of punky rock songs, and of course went through a metal writing phase," says Korva "now I'm writing a lot of pop/rock again. My style has always been influenced by writers I've worked with and whatever music I'm listening to at the time, so now it's just a mix, and I'm more versatile. I love writing, music and melodies especially."

A regular performer at CrueFest in Hollywood at the Whisky A-Go-Go, Korva has played venues throughout North America, from Kentucky to Nashville to Sunset Strip in Hollywood and back to Vancouver and Toronto. She is now gearing up for her first showcase at the North By North East festival in Toronto, June 12-15th 2008.

Steve Winwood - Highest Chart Debut

Legendary singer-songwriter-multi- instrumentalist Steve Winwood's new album, "Nine Lives," his first for Columbia Records, has just entered the Billboard Top 200 at #12, giving the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer his highest chart debut, and best first week's sales, of the SoundScan era.

News of "Nine Lives" chart success comes on the eve of Winwood's extensive North American summer tour with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, launching May 30 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Eric Clapton, Winwood's former bandmate in Blind Faith, lends his signature guitar work to "Dirty City," the album's first single, which held the #1 added single spot for three weeks in a row and peaked at the overall #2 spot on AAA Radio.

Released on April 29, the much-anticipated "Nine Lives" is Winwood's first full-length studio album since the artist released "About Time" on his own independent label, Wincraft, in 2003.

Each of the nine tracks on the aptly-titled "Nine Lives" paints a musical portrait of spiritual transformation as Winwood continues the exploration of soul, rock, blues and world music which began in 1957, when, at the age of 9, he played guitar in his father's band in Birmingham, England.

Songs on "Nine Lives" include "I'm Not Drowning," "Fly," "Raging Sea," "Dirty City," "We're All Looking," "Hungry Man," "Secrets," "At Times We Do Forget," and "Other Shore."

Jonathan recently added 2 brand new sample tracks to his MySpace page. The full tracks will be on his 2nd EP, which is coming soon, entitled "Crash & Burn". The new tracks are "Crash & Burn" and "Sleeping With The Enemy".

Sleeping With The Enemy has a little harder sound then we're use to from Jonathan, but it works nicely. Crash & Burn is a softer ballad track with a great piano arrangement.

Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd will be making headlines and turning heads this August as they team up for their first ever tour together. The Offspring Debut New Single

Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums) are gearing up for the June 17, 2008 release of Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace [Columbia Records], an impressive new set of songs from one of rock's most exciting and enduring bands. The single, "Hammerhead," will be available for free download at the revamped www.offspring.com beginning May 5, the same day that the song is officially released to radio. A special gatefold vinyl edition of the album with access to a free download of the album will be released alongside the traditional CD and download.

The Offspring entered the studio with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult) to record 12 new songs culled from the most productive songwriting period in the band's history. The end result is a broad reaching album forging new territory while staying true to the band's vision. Every song on the band's eighth studio album delivers.

That's quite the accomplishment for a band that has performed over 1000 shows and has sold more than 34 million albums worldwide, including their 1994 release "Smash," which more than a decade after its release remains the highest-selling album of all time on an independent label.

Billy Idol - The Very Best Of

Billy Idol has recorded two brand new songs for The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself, a new career-spanning CD, Deluxe Edition CD/DVD and digital collection to be released June 24 by Capitol/EMI. The two songs, "John Wayne" and "New Future Weapon," will be exclusively available on the new release, which features all seven of Idol's Top 10 hits among its 18 tracks, including two #1s. The Deluxe Edition adds 13 music videos making their DVD release debuts, including two alternate video edits that have never before been released in any format. The CD and CD/DVD packages are both designed by Shepard Fairey and include liner notes by David Wild.

The Very Best Of Billy Idol: Idolize Yourself gathers together the music that Billy Idol has taken to stages all around the world, as well as two brand new songs. The new tracks find the man still at the peak of his powers, working with longtime partner and guitar great Steve Stevens and his other current band members, drummer and songwriting collaborator Brian Tichy and keyboardist Derek Sherinian. On June 24, Idol will perform songs from the new release on the outdoor stage of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Of his new song "John Wayne," Idol says, "When I'm singing it, I'm thinking about the characters John Wayne played. They were usually men with a flaw in their character or something dark in their past they're trying to rise above before the end of the movie. So it's not about the kick-in-the-door John Wayne or the barroom fight John Wayne -- it's more the man who overcomes."

Of the collection's other new track, "New Future Weapon," Idol says, "I was reading about the new stealth fighter plane the Raptor, and I was struck by the ambivalence of the pilot talking about the enemy. Musically, it's got a bit of the Spaghetti Western about it. It's a sick song, as you might expect."

The two new songs are produced by Josh Abraham, whose production discography includes Velvet Revolver's double platinum, Grammy Award-winning Contraband, 30 Seconds To Mars' platinum A Beautiful Lie, Staind's eight-times platinum Break The Cycle and double platinum 14 Shades of Grey, Limp Bizkit's seven-times platinum Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, and Courtney Love's America's Sweetheart, among many others.

The Deluxe Edition CD/DVD adds 13 music videos that helped forever define Idol as a rock icon, including previously unreleased edits of "Cradle Of Love" and "Hot In The City." "We worked hard so there would be some consistency to the videos and so we wouldn't have to be embarrassed one day," Idol says. "We sweated over them -- video hell, we would call it." As with his vital music, Idol liked to use his videos to shake things up as much as possible. "That was a pretty bland time of corporate rock and afternoon television music, and we wanted to bring in a little more danger and after hours fun into it," he explains. "Maybe that's why we looked like vampires."

Wolfgang's Vault - New Additions, Live Concerts...

Wolfgang's Vault, the world famous music archive website "where live music lives", has just uncovered and presented 14 new concerts to be streamed free beginning today. These shows recorded between 1968 and 1988, have not been heard since then and are exclusive to www.ConcertVault.com.

Madonna's exclusive performance at New York City's famed Roseland Ballroom will be available live to millions of fans via an online broadcast at music.msn.com/madonna, it was confirmed today by MSN and Control Room, which announced that the show will stream live Wednesday evening, April 30, at 10 p.m. EDT in the United States and will be available on demand to international audiences on May 15. Along with some past hits, Madonna will be debuting several new songs including her 37th No. 1 smash single "Four Minutes" from her upcoming CD Hard Candy, which is scheduled to be released on April 29. The Control Room- produced show will also include never-before-seen rehearsal footage, a pre- recorded interview with Madonna and her full performance, giving fans around the globe unprecedented access to one of the biggest music events of 2008 by simply logging on to MSN Music In Concert.

And you are right! I apologize to you. Extreme have the most loyal and patient fans on the planet and you deserve an update every once in a while from the band. Is that too much to ask? OK enough with the groveling.

The record is finished except for one lead vocal and a few backgrounds. Nuno is working overtime finishing up the mixes, and believe the hype! These are the best performances of the band... ever! You're gonna hear everything you expect from Extreme, and everything you don't!

The release of the record will ultimately depend on the label, and what's best for the band. We're working on an American run for mid/late summer. Europe, Japan, and the rest of the world to follow!
