The Outfield - Recovery & New Publishing Deal

May.30th-31st.2007 - Wednesday & Thursday

Its been a while since anything was posted on The Outfield's official website. Finally a little update on Spinks' and a new publisher was posted a few days ago.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update regarding John Spinks' recent illness. Having spoken to him this past weekend, I can confirm that things are moving along in a positive direction and that John is on the road to a full recovery. He has asked me to let everyone know that he thanks you all for your continued concern, support and kind messages. We hope that you all understand that he and his family had wanted to deal with this serious & personal matter without too much fuss. Therefore, we kept the updates to a minimum.

As always, the songwriting and recording process has continued and there are a number of new songs in the pipe line. In addition, John has recently signed to a new publisher who we hope will be working hard with him and the band in the future to make new Outfield material available. DR  www.theoutfield.com

New Album Review & Mini

May.25th.2007 - Friday - Memorial Day Weekend

Scorpions - Humanity: Hour I
Well it took a while but the Scorpions have finally returned with a brand new studio album and I can quite honestly say it's nice to see they took a suitable amount of time to record a worthy follow up to their 2004 release Unbreakable. It was on that release that I discovered their uncanny ability to write and perform emotional material together which captured a energy that had been long lost to the over commercialization of the hard rock genre in the contemporary scene.
To this very day I still get..... Read Jere's Full Review Of Humanity: Hour I

Mini Album Review:
With the release of the new film this weekend, I felt it best to do a mini review of the movie score. I've always looked at score music as an inspirational journey. Pirates Of The Caribbean films have taken fans on many different adventures through an array of emotions. In each film the music has captured and even at times set the mood of what is occurring or about to happen. In Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End there is a....

Final Preview... Bon Jovi - Lost Highway

Island Report

We've mentioned this album over and over, talked about the "Nashville" influenced aka COUNTRY vibe and even some of the band members. Here is the final bits and pieces...

"We Didn't Know What Direction We Were Going In" Jon Bon Jovi

That statement alone tells the world to any true Bon Jovi fan. It is clear that this disc will garner the band even more success on the Country side of music. But it is also the end of an era as many longtime fans will not sit through another big mistake. In fact, this release hits home as, This Left Feels Right.... Part 2. A disc that not only attempts to live off the past success of "Who Says You Can't Go Home" but also adds in one of the elements that made Bon Jovi famous, The Talk Box. Most of the songs are slow and contain those twangy sentiments that will have fans asking, WHY?

You can view "The Making Of Lost Highway" a video that contains Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora saying the same thing over and over. If you dare... it can be viewed at: www.umgnashville.com/player.aspx

Pre-Order:
If you Pre-Order from Play.com you will receive an Exclusive Deluxe Slipcase. (While Supplies Last)
www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/3348600/Lost-Highway/Product.html

If you Order from Wal-Mart either online or wait for the release to hit your local store you will see there is 2 versions of the disc.

Version 1 contains just the CD itself, but Version 2 contains a bonus DVD. The DVD contains Special Live Performances and an exclusive interview with the band. The packaged is labeled as an exclusive 2-pack CMT/VH1 Pick.

Ordering Link: www.walmart.com

The next time we discuss this release will be on our upcoming review of the album. After that, we will have an Island Cast that focuses in on Bon Jovi's past, present and future?? The reason for the Island Cast focused episode is that we received many comments about our previous comments on this group. It only seemed fair to discuss the history of the band and talk about how they came to this point in their career.

Site Updates - RSS Feed/Island Cast EP4/Memorial Day

Island Report

We've received a lot of email asking if there is an easier way to download our Island Casts via iTunes. Now anyone who has iTunes can subscribe to our Island Cast. Now for those who do not want to use iTunes, you can still download our shows via the mediafire links in our Media section. The fastest way to add our shows to iTunes is to visit: www.gcast.com/u/IslandCast/ there is a button that says Subscribe with iTunes, that's all! iTunes will then download our shows for you. You can also listen to our shows directly off that site as they stream, so for those who just want to listen, it is perfect.

There are also links to add our show to your start page such as My Yahoo, Google, My Msn and Newsgator if you so choose to do. What is nice about the Gcast page is that on the Recent Episodes list you can directly download our shows in MP3 format. All shows streamed/downloaded from Gcast are in 96kbs, a little lower quality then that which we upload to mediafire but also faster to download.

Now there are so other sites that you can view our RSS feed if you are interested.

And More.......

Aly & AJ - Finished "Insomniatic"

Press Release / Email

Aly & AJ are in the studio putting the final touches on Insomniatic, the much anticipated follow up to their platinum selling Into the Rush. With the multi-tiered marketing and visibility launch campaign, there is no doubt the girls will have zero time
for sleeping.

The first single, "Potential Breakup Song," unveils a new sound for Aly & AJ which adds a distinct rhythmic element to their signature rock/pop songwriting. The video was recently shot by award-winning director Chris Applebaum, and the single ships to radio June 1. Other tracks featured on Insomniatic include "Bullseye" and "Like Whoa." A full track listing will
be available shortly.

The marketing campaign is already in full swing. In a recent pressconference, Aly & AJ announced their partnership as the newly elected 2007 spokespeople for Samsung's "Hope for Education" charity to provide deserving schools with over $2 million in Samsung technology and Microsoft software. Aly & AJ helped to make this the most successful launch in the program's history. They also grace the cover of millions of Post's Honeycomb Cereal boxes. Post is offering a contest to win trips to see Aly & AJ live in a private concert in Orlando. Details are available on postopia.com, on boxes of Post Honeycomb Cereal or at alyandaj.com or myspace.com/alyandaj.

Immediately following the release of Insomniatic, Aly & AJ will embark on a nationwide summer tour headlining amphitheatres and festivals. SANRIO, the gift, stationery and accessory company best known for global pop icon Hello Kitty, will sponsor the girls on tour. They also star in the upcoming MTV movie Super Sweet 16: The Movie which premieres July 8 on MTV. The DVD for the movie will feature "Potential Breakup Song" as well as "Like Whoa" and will be in stores July 10 along with Insomniatic. They are set to host MTV's TRL when the new album hits the stores on July 10. The sisters are
also currently filming a pilot for their own show for MTV.

Aly & AJ are certainly accustomed to keeping busy schedules. The success of Into the Rush was the fruit of the labor of countless hours of promotion and press Aly & AJ poured into their project. From being # 2 most added at Top 40 radio with "Rush" to appearances on Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kelly, CD USA, America's Got Talent, TRL, Cribs and Punk'd, and features from Blender to Seventeen, this was just the beginning. As a result, Aly & AJ were nominated for their first American Music Award. Aly & AJ headlined a successful sold out 2006 summer tour and drew comparisons to Fleetwood Mac and Heart. They provided the theme song for the WNBA, and became the co-chairs for the Amber Watch Foundation. They performed for the President at the White House, and even found time to record and release a Christmas album, of which their song "The Greatest Time of Year" was featured in the theatrical release of "Santa Clause 3 - the Escape Clause." Acoustic Hearts of Winter became one of the most successful selling albums of the season.

Aly & AJ will host coverage of the 2007 MTV Movie Awards red carpet for Yahoo! interviewing celebrities as well as offering their commentary on fashion and other highlights. On the horizon, expect to see an incredible Aly & AJ licensed product assortment including: the authorized "Aly & AJ" biography, as well as the launch of an "Aly & AJ" book series, "Aly & AJ" Xbox and Nintendo video games, 2008 16-month calendars plus posters by Trends International, a doll series by Huckleberry Toys, apparel by FEA Merchandising, backpacks and accessories by Accessory Network, headwear by Bioworld, jewelry and hair accessories by IMT, cosmetics by Townley Girl and domestics by J Franco.

Tom Petty's Highway Companion Special Edition

May.24th.2007 - Thursday

New Version of Legend’s Third Solo Album Is Packaged as Leatherette-Bound Book and Features Four Bonus Tracks

Burbank, CA — A special edition of Tom Petty’s Highway Companion, the third recording in a trilogy of solo albums that includes Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers, will be released by Warner Bros. Records on June 5th. Long celebrated as a major American voice, Petty has used his solo work as a vehicle for his most personal songwriting. Highway Companion, described by The Washington Post as “his best disc in years,” takes the striking intimacy of his earlier solo efforts to even greater heights.

The new version of Highway Companion, targeted to retail outlets around Father’s Day, will be a leatherette-bound book that includes two postcards and four previously unreleased bonus tracks: two songs, “Home” and “Around the Roses,” previously recorded for Highway Companion and Petty’s personal demo versions of Highway Companion tracks “Big Weekend” and “This Old Town.”

The release of the special edition coincides with the reissues on June 12 of the two studio albums from all-star band the Traveling Wilburys, of which Petty was a member along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. Traveling Wilburys Volume 1 and Traveling Wilburys Volume 3 will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle.

Originally released on July 25th, 2006, Highway Companion debuted at Number 4 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, selling 112,000 copies its first week. It was produced by Jeff Lynne, who also produced Petty’s beloved 1989 multi-platinum solo album, Full Moon Fever and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 1991 album Into the Great Wide Open. The spare, lyrically introspective Highway Companion was described by The Detroit Free Press as “an album of subtle treasures”, , Rolling Stone, recognizing the raw emotional strength of Highway Companion, declared it “a classic.”

Highway Companion was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Rock Album,” while its first single, “Saving Grace,” was nominated for “Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.” Those honors were Petty’s 17th and 18th Grammy nods in an illustrious career that has seen the Florida-born singer-songwriter sell more than 50 million albums over the past 30 years. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

The track-listing for the special edition of Highway Companion is as follows:

Bad Side II - "All Killer - No Filler"

Press Release / Email

5/23/07 - Last week, rock band Bad Side was at Hitmakers Digital Studios in Nashville, TN and finished recording their new CD, BAD SIDE II. Post-production is underway and the CD will be available for purchase or download early this summer.

The new CD features thirteen new songs written by Melissa Krahnke and Jason Mapes. Some highlights of the new CD include party anthems “Cheap Liquor & Live Music” and “Let it Roll”, the Zeppelin-esque “Call Me if You Want To”, Melissa's ode to Steven Tyler called "Hey Steven", the lighthearted jest of “My Math Teacher is a Nazi”, and the powerful “Don’t Tell” which tackles the subject of child abuse and neglect.

“Fans of our first CD won’t be disappointed,” says Jason Mapes, guitarist for the band, “but at the same time the sound is more raw and edgy. All Killer – No Filler has been our goal with the songs and we think we have written another great batch of tunes.”

“I think we have let some influences show on this CD, too”, adds Melissa Krahnke, vocalist & pianist of Bad Side. “Songs like “Lie” and “This is How You Made Me” hint of Rainbow or Deep Purple while “Cheap Liquor” shows that KISS and AC/DC were part of our lives.”

Fire It Up Tour

May.23rd.2007 - Wednesday

HELLYEAH's Vinnie Paul, Chad Gray, Tom Maxwell, Greg Tribbett and Bob Zilla have hit the road in support of their self-titled CD. Presented by Jagermeister Liqueur, the "Fire It Up!" tour is the first chance to see this highly anticipated creative collision of sonic proportions. Bloodsimple supports HELLYEAH on the tour which kicked off Sunday evening, May 20th in Baltimore, Maryland to great reviews and overwhelming audience response.

The band's self-titled CD, HELLYEAH, had the highest debut chart position for a new hard rock artist. HELLYEAH entered Billboard's Top 200 charts at #9 and Billboard's Rock Chart at #3. The CD has been complemented by covers, lead features and reviews in magazines such as Revolver, DRUM, Crave, Guitar World, Ruin, Billboard and the OC Register who called it "one of the best metal discs, so far, of 2007."

With their bold disregard for genre constraints and an incendiary live show, Bloodsimple will rock the opening spot. The band is celebrating the 2007 release of their second album, Red Harvest (Bullygoat Records).

Bad Side - Back From Nashville

Island Report

Our friends Bad Side have been hard at work in Nashville this year. Jason Mapes updated fans on the progress of the upcoming album Bad Side II via the band's MySpace page yesterday....

well kiddies -

We are back from Nashville after 10 days in the studio finishing up the final recordings for the new CD - BAD SIDE II.

We arrived at the studio on Friday the 10th to start the process and sat down with our producer Dan Furmanik to go through the demos to discuss the plan of attack.

Over the next week, we recorded almost everyday to finish the 6 final songs.

We did take some time to relax, too including a fishing trip with Dan

(Lissa outfished everybody with three catches that day!!)

Dan still calls it beginner's luck...

We also were guests backstage at the Grand Ol Opry. You never know who is going to be there (as Dan ran into the legendary Robert Plant backstage at the Opry a few months ago) Well we didn't get to see Robert - but we did catch a performance by legendary country artist Dolly Parton who was making a rare appearance that the Opry.

We had only one glitch in the sessions with a song called "Lie". The song was just not coming together - we were really disappointed as the song just had this killer hook that we really wanted to bring this song to the CD. So after an all day session - the song was just not coming together. Lissa and I were not about to give up - so after the studio time was done that day - we went back to the basics and we were able to not only save the song - but it came out even better that we imagined. Can't wait for you to hear "Lie" and all the other new songs!!

The new CD is now in the mixing & mastering stages and is on it's way to release. We will keep you posted on the progress but we are still hoping for a June release date!!

Cheers!
JM

Goo Goo Dolls = Transformers?

May.21st.2007 - Monday

Press Release / Email

American rock & roll legends, THE GOO GOO DOLLS, return to the road this month in support of their Gold-certified album, "LET LOVE IN." The band's eighth studio album, produced by Glen Ballard and the band, has already spawned four hit singles to date, including the current single and title track, "Let Love In." As reported in December, The Goo Goo Dolls now hold the record for "Most Top 10 Hits at Hot AC Radio in History," with twelve consecutive tracks at that format.

As previously reported, the deluxe edition of "LET LOVE IN" is in stores and available now. The expanded package now contains a DVD titled, "LIVE AND INTIMATE," with exclusive live performances, music videos and a pair of acoustic versions of tracks from "LET LOVE IN."

The latest news from The Goos is that the band has recorded a brand new, exclusive song for the upcoming "Transformers" film soundtrack, called "Fiction." Details on both the film and the soundtrack to be announced shortly.

Until then, you can catch The Goo Goo Dolls performing live on television twice this June. Tune into the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC stations Friday, June 8. The Goos will perform live on the outdoor stage. On Monday, June 18, The Goos will perform live on the "Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson" on CBS. Check local listing for details. The Goo Goo Dolls will perform different songs on each show so you won't want to miss these dates.

As always, The Goo Goo Dolls will once again bring USA Harvest out on the road to collect and distribute canned food/goods for families in need in each market along the tour. Containers for food collection can be found near the entrance of the venue each night.

Tour Dates: www.googoodolls.com

--Island Report--

The press release fails to let fans know that the full title of the track is actually "Fiction (Before It's Too Late)." The style of the song is one in vein of the classic Goo Goo ballad meets rock. (Meaning similar to the material that has made them famous.) Acoustic guitars are mixed in with some modern day echoed backdrop elements, plus catchy lyrics that are expected from this group. A brilliantly crafted tune that will no doubt fit the upcoming film like a glove.

Candlebox - DVD/Album/Touring

Island Report

There seems to be a lot of fans asking the band what is going on? For those who don't know, a summer tour is planned, a new CD is in the works as well as a new DVD. But when will these things be released?

Kevin (Band Member) recently posted via the Candlebox official forums the following information:

DVD is in contract negotiation for release sometime this year. They have scheduling issues that they must abide by. I wish it were already out but alas it is not.

To those of you that we will not be seeing this summer i would like to apologize on behalf of all of us. Scheduling/Routing is not the easiest thing to do when it comes to wanting to play every single town in the USA. The majority of the time it's that the venue in your city doesn't have an available night (due to it being the busiest time of year to tour) or that the we quite simply cant get to you from where we are the night before and the night after we could hit your town.

As for the new Candlebox CD. We had hoped that it would be out for you by this summer but we had a few obstacles to overcome, one of which was Bardi becoming an Attorney at Law by passing the bar in his 1st attempt!!! YEAH. You all know how we write and that's as a band. Most of you have heard the teasers over on the myspace page so you've got an idea of where we're headed!!!

The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour '07

Press Release

Multi-platinum rockers LIVE swing for the fences this summer when they team with Counting Crows and Collective Soul on "The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour." The six-week caravan rolls through 23 East Coast and Midwest cities, first stepping to the plate July 22 in Wilmington, DE and ultimately sliding home Sept. 2 in Fargo, ND.

With their soaring anthems and spiritual excursions, LIVE has been bringing nightclub intimacy to audiences of all sizes for two decades. "The Rock 'N Roll Triple Play Ballpark Tour" signals LIVE as a band of conviction, whose original members have steadfastly stayed together for 20 years, a rare event in the rock music world. One of the most inspiring acts of the modern rock era, LIVE remains frontman Ed Kowalczyk, guitarist Chad Taylor, bass player Patrick Dahlheimer, and drummer Chad Gracey.

"We're excited to be on this tour because we've traveled with Counting Crows in the past and it's always been fun, and with Collective Soul it's a really great bill." says lead singer Ed Kowalczyk. "We just love playing for new faces and in new places."

Since forming in middle school in York, PA, LIVE has become an international success.
The band came of age with the release of their debut album Mental Jewelry (1991). They broke worldwide with the follow up, Throwing Copper (1994), a multi-platinum No. 1 smash, which spawned the hits "I Alone," "All Over You," "Selling the Drama" and "Lightning Crashes." Secret Samadhi (1997) propelled by the hit single "Lakini's Juice," became LIVE's second successive No. 1 album. The Distance To Here (1999) delivered "The Dolphin's Cry," and V (2001) followed with "Overcome." Birds of Pray (2003) hit next with "Heaven." After the career-spanning Awake: The Best of Live (2004), LIVE delivered their seventh and most recent studio effort, Songs From Black Mountain (2006).

LIVE has sold over 20 millions CDs worldwide and scored No. 1 albums in many other countries, including Australia, Holland, South Africa, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand.

Millions of TV viewers were reminded of LIVE's incendiary reputation last year on American Idol, when finalist Chris Daughtry performed the band's rendition of Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line." On the Season Finale, Daughtry invited LIVE onstage to perform their new song "Mystery" in front of a viewing audience that exceeded 50 million.

Full Album Review: Jere

When a particular voice comes along and strikes a certain emotions with legions of fans they almost become a larger than life entity in the world of music. Tony Harnell was most notably known for his work with TNT and brought a distinctive component to the group's enduring popularity. Like many I was shocked when Harnell decided to depart from the formula that he helped perfect over the span of more than two decades but respected his choice as obviously he had put a lot of thought behind his decision. When the announcement came that Tony Mills would be the man replacing Harnell I was..... Read Jere's Full Review Of TNT's Latest Release.

Press Release

The Beach Boys and Capitol/EMI Music Catalog Marketing will release on May 22nd "The Warmth Of The Sun," a new collection of 28 career-spanning tracks. Hand-selected and sequenced by The Beach Boys themselves, the new set includes six classic tracks mixed in stereo for the first time. "The Warmth Of The Sun" traces the band's creative arc in a sunup to sundown musical journey that goes beyond the beach, presenting a broad view of their rich musical legacy.

"Their unmistakable harmonies shine on this radiant collection..." -- PEOPLE magazine (May 14, 2007) The perfect companion to 2004's double-platinum certified "Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys," this new collection delves deeper with hits like "Sail On, Sailor" "The Little Girl I Once Knew" and "Feel Flows." "The Warmth Of The Sun" showcases the broad scope of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' four decade-spanning career.

The Beach Boys, originally comprised of the three Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love, and Hawthorne, California neighbor Al Jardine, have recorded and performed the music that has become the world's favorite soundtrack to summer. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and winners of NARAS' Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award, The Beach Boys are an American institution that is iconic around the world.

In 1961, The Beach Boys began singing about America's newest craze, surfing. What followed was a wave of hits that vividly expressed the lifestyles, dreams and ambitions of America's youth. Their signature sound brings optimism and a beam of Southern California sun wherever it is played. Hollywood Roses - Dopesnake:
Hollywood Roses have been referred to as the ultimate Guns N' Roses experience. And while they have gained notoriety by trailblazing a path as one of the most popular GNR tribute acts to set foot in the very same clubs that the original Guns started in, their integrity is put to the test time and time again like every other tribute band out there. Guff - Pre-Order

Artist Release

Guff’s new record “Symphony of Voices,” was produced by Charlie Paulson of Goldfinger and Noah Shain (Orson).

“Symphony of Voices” is Guff but better. It still has their fun-loving spirit, but with a newfound immediacy not heard on earlier releases. And check this out: while Guff was in the studio, Steve Perry, the legendary lead singer of Journey, walked in to visit a friend. He was so impressed with Guff that he showed up unannounced two days later and asked Guff to cover an unreleased Journey song. Steve not only produced the song “I Can See It In Your Eyes” but also sang on it! The track has already been played nationwide on Joe Benson’s syndicated “Off The Record” radio show and additionally on XM Satellite Radio.

Guff will be on the road non-stop once “Symphony Of Voices” is released. They will play on this year’s Warped Tour, open for Goldfinger this fall, and headline shows anywhere and everywhere. So make sure you do not miss them.
