Next Update, Monday...

June.16th.2007 - Saturday

As we mentioned on yesterday's update, we have been having some issues with the Island Cast recording process. We ended up recording Episode 5 two times and still issues. Unfortunately this has taken up a lot of our time as we are trying to figure out what the main problem(s) are. Our next update will be Monday, at which time 2 new reviews in Bon Jovi & Cinder Road will be made available along with TV Captures, New Article & Mini Reviews. If all goes well, we should have some sort of Island Cast by mid-week. As always we thank you all for your understanding. Happy Father's Day Weekend to all those Father's out there.

This show focused on some upcoming summer tours and new albums, very short show as I mentioned which is why we are calling it a Mini-sode. Journey Drops Another Bomb...

June.13th.2007 - Wednesday

Journey has parted ways with their recently named lead singer Jeff Scott Soto. Jeff’s first appearance with Journey was July 7, 2006 in Bristow, VA. He had been filling in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the tour shortly after it began on June 23 due to illness. Jeff’s last performance was May 12, 2007 in Leesburg, VA.

According to guitarist Neal Schon, “We appreciate all of Jeff’s hard work and we can’t thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year. He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We’ve just decided to go our separate ways, no pun intended. We’re plotting our next move now."

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain continues, “We were lucky to have a friend who was already a Journey fan step in on a moment’s notice during the Def Leppard tour to help us out. Jeff was always the consummate professional and we hope that he remains a friend of the band in the future. We just felt it was time to go in a different direction.”

Journey--Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards) and Deen Castronovo (drums)—is taking the rest of 2007 off to spend time with their families, write new songs and map out plans for 2008.

The Official Journey Forum Back Talk has been taken offline for now as well.

Jeff Scott Soto posted on his MySpace page the following tidbit:

"Sad but true....This is the version released without my involvement, mine will be out soon."

Stephen Stills Tour Keeps Rolling On

Press Release

Stephen Stills is one of rock and roll's pre-eminent guitar virtuosos -- he's #28 on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time" -- and one of its most legendary singer-songwriters. For four decades, through his solo work and as a member of a stellar array of iconic groups -- including The Buffalo Springfield, Manassas, Crosby, Stills & Nash and CSN&Y -- Stills has helped shape the popular music landscape and remained one of its most enduring artists. This summer, fans will have the chance to experience Stills' extraordinary music first-hand as he embarks on the second leg of his solo tour, "An Evening With Stephen Stills," beginning with a June 15 date at the Music Hall in Toronto, Stills -- the only artist ever to be inducted twice in one night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for the Springfield and CSN -- will be joined on the road by an ace band including drummer Joe Vitale (who's played with Stills since the early '70s) and bassist Kenny Passarelli. Highlights include shows at Chicago's Park West (6/20), Minneapolis' Pantages Theatre (6/23), Aspen, CO's Belly Up (6/29), the Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom (7/4), San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts (7/9), Los Angles' House Of Blues (7/13) and Phoenix, AZ's Dodge Theater (7/17). As of this writing, the tour wraps at Indio, CA's Fantasy Springs Casino on July 22. Prior to the spring leg of his solo tour, Stills' last road outing was CSN&Y's summer 2006 "Freedom Of Speech" tour.

Stills will perform songs from throughout his career, including selections from his most recent solo album, 2006's acclaimed Man Alive!. "Doing this tour is all about having fun," Stills told the Winston-Salem Journal in May. "I haven't done anything this intimate in a long, long time, and I think it will be good for me and for the fans. People will be surprised by the new songs, and by how well many of the older ones hold up ... I'll actually get to talk, and tell a few stories, so it's all kind of like my short-cut autobiography."

An especially amazing piece of that autobiography unfolds while Stills is on the road this summer with Rhino Records/Eyewall Records' July 10 release of Just Roll Tape -- April 26th 1968. The disc -- the first on Stills' Eyewall imprint through Rhino -- is a collection of 12 previously unreleased demos from an impromptu '68 session in a NYC studio. Included among the sonic gems are the first-ever recordings of songs that would later become classics for Stills solo and his various groups including

"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," "Helplessly Hoping," "Wooden Ships" and "Change Partners." After recording these now-historic demos, Stills left the masters in the studio, and they were almost discarded when the facility closed in '78. Joe Colasurdo, a musician rehearsing there back then, was told by the owner that he could cart off any tapes he wanted to before they cleared the place out. After seeing Stills' names on several of the boxes, Colasurdo kept them safe until he could find a reel to reel machine to play them on.

Realizing the treasure he had, Joe began attempting to get the masters safely back into Stills hands, an undertaking that took much determination, and -- amazingly -- 25 years. In 2003, he was connected to Graham Nash after happening to meet a close friend of his. Nash received the tapes, passed them on to Stephen, encouraging him to release them. The rest is music history, as made by Stephen Stills on Just Roll Tape. For more information, visit www.stephenstills.com.

Farm Aid '07

June.12th.2007 - Tuesday

Alongside farmers and food buyers at Union Square's Greenmarket, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg welcomed Farm Aid co-founders Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp to New York as the pair announced Farm Aid 2007: A HOMEGROWN Festival that will feature an all-star, day-long concert event at Randall's Island Sunday, September 9.

"The City strongly supports sustainable family farming through our Greenmarket program -- which has nearly doubled its locations over the past five years -- and it's an honor to be hosting Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Farm Aid for their 2007 concert," said Mayor Bloomberg. Farm Aid's benefit concert will feature headliners Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, plus other top artists to be announced.

"Farm Aid is coming to New York because your enthusiasm for family farm food is keeping family farmers on the land. We are thankful to Mayor Bloomberg, the City Council and the many activists here who are leading efforts so that every New Yorker has access to more food from family farms," said Farm Aid president Willie Nelson.

"Things change when we all take personal responsibility for our food and where it comes from," said Farm Aid board member John Mellencamp. "Farm Aid is a force for change that works hard to keep farmers on the land so that we'll have good food on our tables."

Farm Aid 2007: A HOMEGROWN Festival will celebrate music, good food, and hands-on activities with family farmers and urban growers. For the first time, concert concessions will feature all fresh, local, organic and family farmed food. The Economic Development Corporation projects that Farm Aid will have an economic impact on the City of $12.7 million.

"Farm Aid presents this homegrown festival to welcome everyone to a day of music for family farmers and to promote fresh healthy food for all," said Farm Aid executive director Carolyn Mugar. "Every Farm Aid artist comes to the show and donates their performance because they know that family farmers are America's best source for our food and renewable energy and the best protectors of our soil and water."

Since its beginning, Farm Aid has traveled the country, staging annual concerts and supporting local organizations working to strengthen family farms. Farm Aid builds the Good Food Movement by connecting people with family farmers who are increasing the supply of local, humanely raised, sustainable and organic food.

Tickets for Farm Aid 2007: A HOMEGROWN Festival are on sale June 16 at 10 a.m. EDT and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (212) 307-7171, (631) 888-9000 or (203) 624-0033. For more information about Farm Aid 2007: A HOMEGROWN Festival, visit www.farmaid.org. Farm Aid will offer special advance sale tickets to its FarmYard members. Vains Of Jenna - Support Poison

Vainsofjenna.com

Who said Internet rumors always prove to be false? Paris Hilton is spending her summer vacation in jail while her good friend Lindsey Lohan finishes up her second stint in rehab and, yes, Swedish rockers VAINS OF JENNA are also foregoing the glitz and glamour of their adopted home of Hollywood to support POISON and RATT on a summer-long amphitheater tour.

"Rock n' Roll is back when VAINS OF JENNA takes the stage. Seeing is believing, and I believe!" Bobby Dall / Poison Bassist

After weeks of online speculation as to who exactly would be the support act for Poison's annual cross-country trek it was announced today that VAINS OF JENNA have in fact been added to 45 shows beginning Sun., June 17 in Charlotte, NC and concluding Sat., September 1 in West Palm Beach, FL.

"This is what the American dream is all about," said frontman Lizzy DeVine.

Since arriving stateside 13 months ago the members of VAINS OF JENNA - Nicki Kin (guitar), JP White (bass), Jacki Stone (drums) and Lizzy - have already played upwards of 200 shows and logged nearly 45,000 miles in a van all on their own - without the help of any road crew.

Barely two years removed from high school and finding their way around a foreign country they also happened to find a loyal supporter and friend in MTV pop culture icon BAM MARGERA (VIVA LA BAM, JACKASS), who immediately formed his own record company - FILTHY NOTE - in order to offer the then teenagers a record deal.

"These guys were so damn good when I first saw them that I decided right there on the spot to start my own record company," said BAM, of his eagerness to work the band. "They're that good."

Their debut LIT UP/LET DOWN was released last October along with their first video/single NOONE'S GONNA DO IT FOR YOU (directed by BAM). Album track DON'T GIVE A DAMN was also used as the theme song for the MTV series BAM'S UNHOLY UNION, a series in which they also made an appearance when they performed at BAM'S bachelor party in Las Vegas.

"We love to play the dumps and dives that reek of day old beer and stale cigarettes, but can't wait to experience thousands of rock n' roll fans on these big stages." Adds Bassist JP White

This summer VAINS OF JENNA will hit up radio with their second single HARD TO BE VAIN.

Laidlaw - The Good & Bad News

MySpace Bulletin

Just wanted to say 'HEY' and get everyone updated with LAIDLAW news. We have bad news and great news.

Bad news: Eric Jarvis has decided he can't tour with us any more for personal reasons keeping him in Houston. In which is good for the Jarvis' but bad for the Laidlaw's. We will miss Eric's talent and his comedy for sure, and wish him and his wife Jess the best!

Great news: Jerry Scott has just joined LAIDLAW! Jerry was recommended to us from our friends Bobby Blotzer(RATT) and one of my best friends Neil Zlozower. We've been rehearsing with Jerry here in Houston and it's been amazing! Jerry is a seasoned pro and is welcomed with opened arms. It's always a blessing working with professional musicians who come to us well rehearsed, knowing the songs as they were recorded. We are stoked to be able to say Jerry is the cat for us without missing a beat!! We are very pleased with Jerry as a musician and as well as being an amazing person. Go say hello to Jerry at his myspace page and welcome him to the band: www.myspace.com/basslave.

We are getting ready to hit the road again on July 15th with Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'm really excited to get out supporting my favorite band once again!

We also would like to thank the ZZ Top camp for taking such great care of us on the ZZ Top "Hollywood Blues Tour" It was awesome to play with the TOP again. Looking forward to more dates with them very soon.

Go check out the photo section on our myspace page for some cool pics taken by two of the best photographers I know. Neil Zlozower and Rick Gould!

New dates are coming our way, so keep checking our tour section for shows near you!

Peace... and thanks for your continued support, Craig DeFalco

Line Of Fire - "No New LOF Until '08"

MySpace Bulletin

I found out today that our drummer, CANVAS SOLARIS drummer Hunter Ginn, will not be able to enter The Basement Studios w/ Jamie King until August due to the studio's schedule.

We can keep adding vocals & some other stuff until then, but this definitely delays the release.

Even if we get recorded, mixed & mastered by the end of September, it'll be January 2008 at the earliest before release.

Bummer. We'll keep everyone posted...

Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp '07

June.6th.2007 - Wednesday

Only Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp offers the average dad the life changing opportunity to jam with Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones and Jack Bruce of Cream, perform with Roger Daltrey of The Who at the House of Blues and record at Abbey Road Studios in London.

As part of their Fathers' Day promotion, Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp is offering a discount to all campers who register for the 2007 Labor Day camp in New York City before June 30th. Imagine your dad jamming and playing live with Paul Stanley, Ted Nugent, Max Weinberg and many more!

The next camp is scheduled August 30th-September 3rd (Labor Day weekend) in New York City at Gibson's Hit Factory and a final "battle of the bands" performance at BB King's. Each camp band will perform with Paul Stanley of KISS and the David Letterman horn section.

The camp will also feature Leslie West and Corky Laing (Mountain), Mark Farner (formerly of Grand Funk Railroad), Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Go's), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Alan White (YES), Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Spike Edney (Queen), Skunk Baxter (Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers) and Kip Winger (Winger).

Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp was dubbed the "most amazing rock 'n' roll lifestyle experience" by The London Times and "brilliant" by ABC Good Morning America. The camp has been featured on television shows such as Ellen, where Ellen Degeneres jammed with Bonnie Raitt and David Crosby, and on the episode of The Simpsons where Homer goes to Fantasy Camp and jams with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp was created by rock and roll producer David Fishof, a twenty-five year veteran of the music business.

Go to www.rockcamp.com or call 1.888.762.2263 for more information on the Fathers' Day promotion and to sign your dad up for an experience of a lifetime!

And if Dad gets hooked on the rocker lifestyle, register him for the Columbus Day weekend camp October 5th through 8th, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, culminating in a final night jam at the House of Blues.

Acoustic Alchemy - This Way

5. Out Of Nowhere
6. This Way
7. Tied Up With String
8. Only In My Dreams

11. Now I'm On My Way

With the release of This Way, Acoustic Alchemy’s first album under Higher Octave/Narada Jazz’s association with Blue Note Records, guitarists Greg Carmichael and Miles Gilderdale celebrate a remarkable two decades since 1987’s Red Dust and Spanish Lace established the British ensemble as an ever evolving, powerhouse force in contemporary jazz.

Their thousands of fans around the world may be feeling nostalgic, but the duo—while keeping their trademark acoustic guitar synergy front and center—Is clearly committed to forging ahead, following the laid back pop-soul vibe of American/English(2005) with their most aggressive and swinging, hard rocking and artfully jazzy disc to date. Complementing performances by familiar Acoustic Alchemy recording and touring members Terry Disley (piano), Snake Davis (sax), Fred White (keyboards and trumpet), Julian Crampton (bass) and Greg Grainger (drums) are special guest appearances by smooth jazz stars, trumpeter Rick Braun, saxman Jeff Kashiwa (who has toured with the band and appeared on 2001’s Aart) and keyboardist Neil Cowley, a member of jazz groove band (and Narada Jazz/Blue Note labelmates) Down To The Bone.

While Carmichael and Gilderdale composed the majority of the songs and produced several tracks at Gilderdale’s home facility 9 Miles High Studio in York, England, others were produced at various studios on Carmichael’s home turf of London and at Hansa House Studios in Bonn, Germany, where many of the band’s classics were recorded, produced and mixed over the years by longtime associate Klaus Genuit. In addition to Genuit’s three tracks, This Way includes six others produced and engineered by Richard Bull, who began working with AA on 2000’s The Beautiful Game. Two tracks, the trippy and sensual “Out of Nowhere” and the snappy, neo-soul driven “Now I’m On My Way” were mixed by legendary mixer Steve Hodge (Usher, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige).

Carmichael explains the very loose and spirited feeling of This Way as the result of a natural chemistry he’s developed with Gilderdale over the years since Gilderdale—formerly a backing guitarist with the band—became Carmichael’s full partner after the passing of founding member Nick Webb in 1998 and the release that year of Positive Thinking.

“What I love about This Way is that it’s got so much more playing on it than we’ve done before,” he says, “a lot more soloing and a really relaxed and organic vibe. I think this is less by design and more due to the fact that Miles and I are great friends who are very comfortable and laugh a lot together. When we got together at his place, either one of us would come up with a starting idea and we’d just let it grow naturally, then refine it and change it until we had a great song,” When I think of tracks like ‘Egg,’ which has a very British, straight ahead sound, I realize that this is really the jazziest record we’ve ever made, less pop jazz and with more extended solo sections. Our fans might be surprised to hear Miles play so much electric guitar, but in essence, that’s what he is by trade and what his focus was before he joined me as a partner on The Beautiful Game. So this album is the best of everything, not just my way, not just his way, but This Way.”

The best selling concert tour of all time, A Bigger Bang, is coming to living rooms across the country as one of the most ambitious music DVD sets in history. The Rolling Stones and Best Buy are joining forces to release, The Biggest Bang, a four-DVD set featuring seven hours of content including two full length concerts, two behind-the- scenes documentaries and classic favorites such as, "Honky Tonk Women," "Sympathy for the Devil," and "Satisfaction."

Additionally, the DVD set features full length concerts from the Rolling Stones historic show on Rio de Janeiro's famed Copacabana Beach, which was attended by two million concert goers, and a concert in Austin, Texas -- a highlight of the U.S. tour.

"Four Flicks was great, but practice makes perfect and The Biggest Bang is even better -- it's got all the right stuff," said tour promoter Michael Cohl. "It's great to be back with Best Buy, and we're pleased that they have decided to offer fans the same low price as they did with Four Flicks three years ago."

StorySide:B - We Are Not Alone

Artist Release

“We Are Not Alone.” It is more than simply an album title. It is a confession that pulses with a white-hot intensity through every song of St. Augustine, Florida-based rock band StorySide:B’s latest project; and courses through the lifeblood of each of its members.

Lead vocalist/guitarist Lu Rubino and drummer Jordan Mohilowski banded together in 2003 to win the band division of the Exalting Him talent competition. It didn’t take long for their unique sound and intense work ethic to entice Detroit native Ron McClelland to join the band on bass and keys. The irrepressible Texan, Preston Pohl soon added his stellar guitar chops to the mix. Since then StorySide:B has patiently honed their diverse backgrounds and musical proclivities into a unique and unified sound which has inspired a mad following of fans who have - in turn - propelled the band into the forefront of the Christian music scene.

Look for We Are Not Alone in stores on June 19, released on Gotee Records.

"Unplugged" Is Back

Press Release/Email

The Police, Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Mary J. Blige and John Mayer are among the multi-genre artists planned to break out the critically acclaimed "Unplugged" music franchise for new audiences across MTV, VH1 and CMT. The intimate acoustic performances will roll out in a number of upcoming "Unplugged" specials that could appear on nearly every MTV, VH1 and CMT screen - from the television to the Web to the mobile phone - providing maximum exposure for artists and the ability to cross musical generations and boundaries by connecting with diverse audiences. As legend has it, the first "Unplugged" was inspired by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora's acoustic performance at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.

The new multi-network, multi-genre incarnation of the Grammy Award-winning "Unplugged" will take full advantage of the world's three premier music brands in MTV, VH1, and CMT, as well as their broad number of platforms. Bon Jovi, whose newest album, "Lost Highway" releases June 19, 2007, will kick off the first cross-network "Unplugged" on consecutive nights beginning June 22, 2007, with each airing tailored for the specific audiences of MTV, VH1 and CMT. Each of the shows will then be available respectively on MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com after the on air premiere. "When 'Unplugged' first premiered, it ushered in a new era of intimacy between artists and fans," said Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks' Music, Logo & Films Group. "Today, 'Unplugged' will be customized across our music channels - MTV, VH1 and CMT - as well as our multiple platforms, including online, mobile, VOD, and radio."

"When we first did the MTV awards show, we thought the only way to impact an audience of our peers, fans and the industry was to simply lay it all out there naked - stripped of all the pomp and production," said Jon Bon Jovi. "So it came down to two guys, and two guitars. It was Dick Clark who said to do two songs. At the end of the day it was and is all about the song in its purest form. A lot of great performances followed. Thanks MTV."

In addition to uniting with "Unplugged," MTV's successful "The Leak" franchise will now become a staple of all three music brands, making it the premier destination for discovering artists' unreleased tracks and albums online before their availability for purchase anywhere. The first cross brand "The Leak," will be on MTV.com and VH1.com, featuring Kelly Clarkson's newest release, "My December." Fans can stream the audio of the upcoming album a full week before its June 26th release.

MTV's "Unplugged" concert series first debuted in 1989 and is credited with starting an "acoustic revolution" among musicians. Unplugged has received critical acclaim, spotlighting artists including Eric Clapton who won six Grammys including Album of the Year for his Unplugged, Nirvana who won the Best Alternative Album Grammy for their Unplugged release, and Tony Bennett whose cross-generational Unplugged earned him Album of the Year honors. Other memorable "MTV Unplugged" performers include: R.E.M., Sting, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, KoRn, Neil Young, Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Cure, Don Henley, LL Cool J, Duran Duran, Alanis Morissette, Jay-Z, Rod Stewart, Lauryn Hill and Paul McCartney.

The three different versions of "Bon Jovi Unplugged" will premiere on Friday, June 22nd on MTV; Saturday, June 23rd on VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD: Music High-Definition; and on Sunday, June 24th on CMT. Each music brands' audience will help inform where the upcoming "Unplugged" specials will appear. All of them will air in high-def on MHD: Music High-Definition.

Ra - Album Update

Artist Release

The band has updated their MySpace page with the following bit of information pertaining to their upcoming album.

Recording for Black Sun is well underway. We have more than half of the tracks done and we already have our "lead track" which we are stoked about! its ethnic, its heavy, its danceable, and its catchy as all hell! We are however at alittle bit of a stand still at the moment while we move the studio to a new location. We hope to have the record done by the summers end and have it out by early fall.
