the songs and the guys would write all their parts. Now it's a band in
the hand. We all fight it out… we fight over melodies and lyrics. It's
completely unique from anything we've done before."
Matchbox twenty's last studio album, the RIAA double platinum "MORE THAN

venues – New York's Madison Square Garden, London's Wembley Arena, and
Los Angeles' Staples Center. The band reunited at the end of 2005 to
play two special New Year's shows in Las Vegas.
Matchbox twenty's three albums to date have sold more than 28 million
copies worldwide. They made their recording debut in 1996 with "YOURSELF
OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU," followed by "MAD SEASON BY MATCHBOX TWENTY"

Season," "Bent," "Disease," "Unwell," and "Bright Lights."

Satriani To Play Exclusive Club Dates
July.13th.2007 - Friday
For over 20 years, guitar virtuoso JOE SATRIANI has amazed and
entertained the masses with his unique mastery of the electric guitar.
Now, Joe is set to reinvigorate the long-time faithful and energize a
new crop of fans with several exclusive performance dates showcasing his
breakthrough album, Surfing with the Alien. Among the intimate stops are
the Gramercy Theatre in New York, The House of Blues in Chicago and The
Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles. But perhaps the most exclusive date will
take place in San Francisco at Hyde Street Studio where just 40 contest
winners will be witness to Joe playing at the very studio where Surfing
was recorded. Tickets will go on sale this Sunday, July 15th at 10:00 am
(local time) exclusively through Satriani.com and is being offered at a
special, low price of $35 per ticket (plus any applicable facility fees
and ticket service charges per venue). For all information and to
purchase tickets, fans must go to
Satriani.com.
Surfing with the Alien was the album that ignited JOE SATRIANI's career
as a solo performer. The acclaimed guitarist's second full-length
release, Surfing with the Alien, was originally issued in October 1987
on Relativity Records. It became a left-field bestseller that reached
No. 29 on the Billboard Top 200 and was certified Platinum for US sales
of over one million copies. It was the first rock guitar instrumental
album to reach Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart. It includes the charting
hits "Satch Boogie" and "Surfing With The Alien", plus the
Grammy-nominated "Always With Me, Always With You".
On August 7, 2007, Epic/Legacy Recordings will celebrate the 20th
anniversary of this groundbreaking album with the release of a newly
expanded edition of Surfing with the Alien. This meticulously restored
two-disc set includes the newly remastered album and a previously
never-before-seen live show filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in
1988. It will also feature new liner notes written by Joe and special
deluxe packaging featuring photos, notes and other memorabilia from
Joe's personal archive.
After two decades of playing at the top of his game, SATRIANI sums it up
best himself, "I've toured the world, but I have to say; playing a club,
on an intimate stage, this is how it all began and I'm very excited to
play these upcoming shows."
The Exclusive Club date itinerary is:
August 15 Gramercy Theatre New York, NY
August 16 The House of Blues Chicago, IL
August 17 The Roxy Theatre Los Angeles, CA
August 18 Hyde Street Studio San Francisco, CA

Arista recording artist Barry Manilow revisits the songs of the decade
that launched his career - the Seventies. THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE
SEVENTIES is the next release in a best-selling series of tribute albums
of popular music which includes The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties and
The Greatest Songs Of The Sixties, whose cumulative sales with Ultimate
Manilow have surpassed 5 million units. THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE
SEVENTIES will arrive in stores on September 18th in two distinctly
unique packages, one an 18-song CD; and the other a two-disc set
containing a 14-song Dual Disc (audio and video layers) plus a 9-song
bonus CD.
THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES continues the productive and
successful reunion between Manilow and Clive Davis, Arista founder and
BMG U.S. Chairman & CEO. Davis has been Manilow's hit-making
collaborator on virtually all his recordings, since they first worked
together on "Mandy," his debut #1 single as the first artist signed to
Arista by Davis in 1974, the first year of the label's existence. The
two produced The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties and The Greatest Songs Of
The Sixties together, and that magic has carried over to the new album
as well. Comments Clive Davis: "No one can reinvent the great classics
better than Barry Manilow. He breathes new life and vitality into these
truly wonderful songs and they sound fresh and timeless. We continue on
the mission to bring to a new generation the great songs of a different
era."
Special pre-order campaigns for THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES at
the www.manilow.com
website and at Amazon will ensure fans of receiving the new album in its
very first week of release.
THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES is a fan's dream wish-list of
favorites covering both sides of the Atlantic, from The Beatles' "The
Long And Winding Road," to Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest
Word," as well as duets with Melissa Manchester on Carole King's "You've
Got A Friend" and with Rosie O'Donnell on Elton John's "Don't Go
Breaking My Heart." Other selections include Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge
Over Troubled Water," the Hollies' "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother,"
Albert Hammond's "It Never Rains In Southern California," and The
Carpenters' "(They Long To Be) Close To You." Manilow's tributes are
flawlessly performed and arranged, starting with an homage to the Barbra
Streisand's "The Way We Were," Frankie Valli's "My Eyes Adored You," the
Bee Gees' "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart," and the Christopher Cross
masterpiece "Sailing," produced by Walter Afanasieff.
The 18-song single CD package of THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES
presents Barry Manilow's new versions of 10 classic songs by other
artists from the '70s, plus first time ever, stripped-down acoustic
versions of eight of his own titles. These range from "Mandy," "I Write
The Songs," and "Could It Be Magic?," to 1976's "This One's For You" and
"Weekend In New England"; from 1978's "Can't Smile Without You" and
"Copacabana," up to "Even Now" and "Somewhere In The Night."
The two-disc package of THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES contains a
Dual Disc (CD + DVD) with new versions of 14 classic songs by other
artists from the '70s on the audio layer, and "The Making of the Album"
with Barry reflecting on the music and the decade on the video layer.
The bonus CD will contain stripped-down acoustic versions of nine Barry
Manilow titles.
THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE SEVENTIES follows two hit albums released last
year: The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties (released January 31) and The
Greatest Songs Of The Sixties (released October 31), making 2006 the
first year since 1981 that Manilow had two albums of new material top

It's Official - Alter Bridge Signs With Universal Republic
July.10th.2007 - Tuesday
July 9, 2007 - New York, NY – The members of Alter Bridge are pleased
to announce they have signed an agreement to release their next album on
Universal Republic Records. This brand new album is scheduled to be
released this fall.
“We’re very excited about beginning this chapter in our lives and
career,” commented Grammy Award winning songwriter and guitarist Mark
Tremonti. “Universal Republic is a perfect home for us and we’re excited
that our fans are going to get to hear all the new songs we’ve been
working on for quite some time really soon. The material we’ve been
working on is really aggressive and I think it’s the best work we’ve
ever done. We can’t wait to get back in front of our loyal fans later
this year.”
"We’re thrilled to be partnering up with Alter Bridge," stated Monte
Lipman, President of Universal Republic Records. "They're an incredible
band with a strong vision that we share together. When Tom (Mackay, SVP
A&R) and I met with the group, we knew instantly this is the type of
talented people we’d want to be in business with.”
Alter Bridge’s Universal Republic debut will be the follow up to their
debut album, the Gold-certified album One Day Remains, which debuted at
#5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart its week of release. The album
featured three consecutive hits on rock radio: (“Open Your Eyes,” “Find
The Real,” and “Broken Wings”). Comprised of Mark Tremonti, Scott
Phillips, Brian Marshall and Myles Kennedy, three of the four members of
Alter Bridge made up the 30+ million selling band Creed.
The recording of the new album was completed in Nashville, TN last month
with famed producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Incubus, Chevelle, Three
Days Grace). The band has also brought on a new management team with
Paul Geary & Steve Wood for Azoff Music Management taking the reigns.
Alter Bridge has kept a conspicuously low profile in the United States
since a brief tour in October of 2005. The band toured Europe during the
summer and fall of 2005 and the summer of 2006 performing at mostly
festival shows with the likes of Metallica, Tool, Guns N’ Roses, Alice
In Chains, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, and Black Sabbath.
The band will be hitting the road upon the release of their 2nd album
this fall. Touring details and more information on the new album will be
released at a later date.

Queensryche - Sign Of The Times
Press Release
In a career that spans nearly 25 years, Queensryche has released 15
albums that have sold more than 20 million units around the world. On
August 28, Capitol/EMI will release Sign Of The Times: The Best Of
Queensryche in CD, 2-CD Collectors Edition packages and digitally. The
new career-spanning hits collection features 17 of Queensryche's best
singles and album tracks, including seven Top 10 Mainstream Rock hits,
packaged in a jewelcase with a sixteen-page booklet featuring custom
artwork, a discography, and track notes from the band's singer, Geoff
Tate. The Collectors Edition, presented in deluxe digipak packaging,
adds a second disc of 15 rare and previously unreleased demos, outtakes,
remixes, live recordings, television performance audio, recordings for
soundtracks and a new, never-before-heard song making its release debut
on this collection.
"In an era that valued style over substance, Queensryche emerged as a
contrary force to the happy-go-lucky sounds of hard rock in the late
'80s and early '90s," explains Paul Gargano in his Sign Of The Times
liner notes essay. "In hindsight, one might even go as far as to say
that the band succeeded despite themselves. Whether knowingly or not,
they zigged when the industry zagged, progressed while the scene
regressed, and offered provocation while others opted for escapism.
There's a subtle irony, then, that their best-of collection is called
Sign Of The Times."
Among Sign Of The Times: The Best Of Queensryche's 17 hits and favorites
are the #1 smash "Silent Lucidity," "Jet City Woman," "Eyes of a
Stranger," and "Another Rainy Night (Without You)," and more than a
dozen other well-known songs. The 15 tracks on the Collectors Edition's
rarities disc include three demo recordings by Myth (lead vocalist Geoff
Tate's band prior to Queensryche), three demo recordings from The
Warning, three bonus tracks from the reissued Empire album, bonus tracks
from the reissued Promised Land and Q2K albums, an intoxicating live
version of "Silent Lucidity," a previously unreleased version of "Della
Brown" recorded for "MTV Unplugged," and a new track making its release
debut, "Justified," recorded with original Queensryche guitarist Chris
DeGarmo.
Beginning September 5 in Binghamton, New York, Queensryche and Alice
Cooper will join Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny
Appice on the "Heaven and Hell Tour" for a U.S. trek that is expected to
continue through early November.

New Article & Captures
July.5th.2007 - Thursday
A Tribute To Diana:
10 Years ago the world lost an icon in Princess Diana Of Wales. Through
all the heartache her sons have risen above and in their own way paid
tribute to her life on July 1st.
Both Prince's could be seen dancing and laughing with their friends as
musicians entertained us all. I was worried that some of the acts in the
lineup would come off a bit cheap and odd-ball-ish, but it worked out
fairly well. Below I mention a few of the acts that caught my attention,
the good & bad. As well as my #1 biggest issue with this Tribute.
I was very excited about this program because one it pays tribute to a person who did a lot of good in the world. Two, that it had major music stars some of which haven't been on TV in a while. And finally, because it was.. Read The Full Article.
This article also includes TV Captures of some of the performers.
Additional Information about the Tribute. Soon you will be able to purchase a 128 page commemorative program that contains newly commissioned articles about Diana, Princess of Wales, by the Spencer family, Charles Moore, Mario Testino and others. There will be a limited amount so make sure you keep checking their website if interested. Also a DVD of the festivities is currently being made and will be released later in the year. Press Release / Email
Columbia Records is set to release "Play It As It Lays," the
eagerly-anticipated new album from American singer-songwriter-musician
Patti Scialfa, on Tuesday, September 4. Patti Scialfa will make a series
of rare live TV appearances the week of her album launch including both
NBC-TV's "Today" and CBS-TV's "Late Show with David Letterman" on
Tuesday, September 4 as well as ABC-TV's "The View" on Thursday,

the first album of new music from Patti Scialfa since the release of her
critically acclaimed "23rd Street Lullaby" in 2004 and is the artist's
third solo album since the release of her debut, "Rumble Doll," in 1993.
"Play It As It Lays" premieres 10 new songs, written and performed by
Patti Scialfa, showcasing the artist's soulful command of melody and
language in a series of expressive and intimate musical narratives
incorporating elements of roots rock, folk, country, street corner
doo-wop, girl groups and more into a sound and sensibility uniquely her
own. Tracks on "Play It As It Lays" include: "Looking For Elvis," "Like
Any Woman Would," "Town Called Heartbreak," Play Around," "Rainy Day
Man," "The Word," "Bad For You," "Run, Run, Run," "Play It As It Lays,"

The album is produced by Patti Scialfa, Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Guster,
Barenaked Ladies), and Steve Jordan (Patti's co-producer on "23rd Street
Lullaby," Jordan served as musical director for the PBS series "Martin
Scorsese Presents the Blues" and has produced albums by Keith Richards,
John Mayer, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and others). "Play It As It
Lays" features Patti (vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo, Wurlitzer organ)
backed by the 'Whack Brothers' Rhythm Section: Cliff Carter (keyboards),
Steve Jordon (drums and percussion, acoustic guitar), Nils Lofgren
(guitars, pedal steel guitar, dobro), Bruce Springsteen (Hammond B3
organ, acoustic guitars, electric guitar, harmonica) and Willie Weeks
(bass). Additional players on the album include co-producer Ron Aniello
(guitar, keyboards), Crusher Bennet (percussion), Jeremy Chatzky (bass),
Mark Stewart (cello, guitar, banjo), Scott Tibbs (synthesized strings),
and Soozie Tyrell (violin, background vocals), with whom Patti gigged
back in her early musical busking days. Other background vocals are
provided by Lisa Lowell, Michelle Moore, Cindy Mizelle and Curtis King.
Each of Patti Scialfa's previous solo albums -- "Rumble Doll" (1993) and
"23rd Street Lullaby" (2004) -- received four-star reviews in Rolling
Stone magazine who praised her " ... clear-eyed joyfulness and
unpretentious appeal ... (evoking) ... a woman not haunted by her past
but enriched by it."

The Doors - Live In Boston 1970
July.2nd.2007 - Monday
The Doors' final tour with rock icon Jim Morrison as lead vocalist kicked off April 10, 1970 with a gig at the long-gone Boston Arena featuring an early show and a late show, both presented here. Their first performance since the band's '69 tour was cut short after a controversial onstage incident involving Morrison that nearly spelled the end for the Doors, it was a raucous evening that did not disappoint fans clamoring for more. Capturing the beginning of an era's end, this three-disc set presents the Lizard King leading fellow Doors Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger - all at the peak of their powers - on an epic and incendiary booze-fueled musical journey through their biggest hits, greatest tracks, inspired covers and assorted spoken word gems. All but two tracks are previously unreleased, and were recorded by the Doors' engineer Bruce Botnick on multi-track tapes. Among several shows from the '70 tour recorded for what would become Absolutely Live, this now legendary date is available for the first time ever from Rhino and Bright Midnight.
Highlights:
Three-disc set features the complete early and late shows from the Doors
legendary 1970 date at Boston Arena. Over three hours of maximum
intensity live Doors. Almost entirely previously unreleased (only two
out of 46 tracks have appeared elsewhere). Mixed & mastered by the
band's longtime engineer Bruce Botnick, who recorded the shows, on
multi-track tape. Disc One presents the early show at the Arena on
4/10/70. Highlights include "Roadhouse Blues," about which Botnick says,
"the opening scream...is stunning and worth the price of admission."
Plus mind-bending renditions of "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)," "When The
Music's Over," "Mystery Train," "Light My Fire" and more. Discs Two and
Three unleash the sprawling second show, clocking in at over 100
minutes. Highlights include "Break On Through," ""Back Door Man," and
Morrison's spoken word riff through "Adolf Hitler."
Look for this 3 disc set to drop July 24th, retailing for approximately $30.00.

June.30th.2007 - Saturday
This concert has been devised by William and
Harry as a celebration of their mother’s life, and will be broadcast
live to millions of viewers in over 140 countries around the world.
When they announced the concert last December, William and Harry
explained that, 10 years on from their mother’s death, they wanted to
celebrate her life and commemorate her achievements. In addition to a
Memorial Service on 31st Of August, the concert marks what would have
been Diana’s 46th birthday.
This Sunday at 10:00am CT, VH1 will begin their coverage of this historic concert. VH1 Classics will also be airing the concert festivities along with the BBC. If you are unable to watch via TV you can do so by visiting the Concert's official site. There's a list of where you can view the festivities no matter what country you are located in. Online streams will be available from VH1 and the BBC. For all the show information please visit: www.concertfordiana.com.
If you are unable to watch this weekend, VH1 Classics will be airing 2 hour rerun blocks here and there for the next week. Check your local channel guide for specific times.
We will have TV Captures and a write-up about the coverage and performances next week.

EMI & SNOCAP
Press Release
EMI Music yesterday announced that it has reached an agreement with
SNOCAP which enables U.S. fans to purchase DRM-free, higher-quality MP3s
by EMI artists through artist websites, social networking pages and fan
blogs. EMI will have the ability to place SNOCAP MyStores -- digital
storefronts that work on nearly any standard website -- on the web pages
of hundreds of its artist sites, making EMI the first major record
company to partner with SNOCAP to sell its music in a DRM-free,
higher-quality format.
Beginning this week, music from a broad range of EMI Music artists will
be available for purchase via SNOCAP MyStores. Downloads will be DRM-free
MP3s, encoded at 320 kilobits per second, more than twice the audio
quality of standard files. Artists whose tracks will be available via
SNOCAP MyStores at launch include 30 Seconds to Mars, The Almost, Ryland
Angel, The Bird and The Bee, KORN, Joe Lovano, Dean Martin, MIMs,
Relient K, Saosin, TobyMac and Yellowcard, with additional EMI artists
rolling out SNOCAP MyStores in coming weeks. EMI's Blue Note Records
label has also placed a SNOCAP MyStore on its main website making tracks
available from both catalog and current artists -- everyone from Freddie
Hubbard to Sonny Clark -- as well as the single from the upcoming
Suzanne Vega album.
The SNOCAP MyStore is an easy-to-use Web-based interface and digital
storefront which enables labels and artists to place a retail point of
sale almost anywhere on the web. EMI's agreement with SNOCAP means fans
will be able to download higher-quality DRM-free tracks without leaving
the artist's website or social networking page. SNOCAP is making tracks
available for $1.30, and albums will be made available via SNOCAP
MyStores later this year. Using SNOCAP MyStores' "Spread the word"
feature, fans, music bloggers and other third party sites will also have
the ability to place SNOCAP MyStores from their favorite artists on
their own websites.

Live From The Peacock Room... On Hold?
Island Report / Email
We mentioned before that Live From The Peacock Room was a live music show created for music fans. It was set to give people a 3D video experience of live music performances via virtualNBC.com. They had quite a few bands lined up, but I received the following email yesterday.
Due to sponsors' lack of interest, the network has decided to cut Live From The Peacock Room. We really appreciate everyone's support and hope that some day the series will re-emerge. Please stay tuned for more details and as always, send us your thoughts at virtual.nbc@nbcuni.com.
The information via the shows official MySpace page contains some additional thoughts from those who were involved in the show. You can read their information here: www.myspace.com/livefromthepeacockroom.
