Carrie Underwood Invites Fans Along For A Carnival Ride

Press Release

October 23 Album Release Is the Follow-Up to Her Six-Million-Selling Blockbuster, Some Hearts

Nashville, TN – Two-time GRAMMY winner and reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist Carrie Underwood is preparing to release her new 19 Recordings/Arista Records/Arista Nashville album, Carnival Ride, on October 23.

With first single, “So Small,” already a country airplay Top 10 after only four weeks, the Checotah, Oklahoma native who went from college student to American Idol winner to six-million-selling, multi-format superstar in less than three years has clearly been on an adventure ride of her own.

In choosing the album title, Underwood found Carnival Ride (taken from a lyric line in the new disc) to be a great metaphor. She explains, “You step onto this ride called life, and it’s a crazy thing you don’t know anything about, but you get on it anyway. You do what you can to lean different directions to try and get it to go where you want it to go, but you can’t stop it – it just keeps moving. That’s why Carnival Ride works as my album title, because it describes the wonderful craziness that I’ve been through over the past couple years.”

Underwood’s debut disc, Some Hearts, was released on November 15, 2005 and spent a remarkable 27 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, holding that position across multiple weeks in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Currently 6x Platinum, and with SoundScan sales in excess of 1.2 million copies this year alone, Some Hearts remains the best-selling country album of 2007.

Balls Of Fury: Music From And Inspired By The Motion Picture

Press Release / Update

We mentioned this disc a few months ago, but now the official website contains audio samples of the tunes. The album was released on August 28th.

Bang your head to BALLS OF FURY: MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE featuring classic hard rockin' anthems from hair-metal gods Poison, Whitesnake, Slaughter and Night Ranger as well as exclusive new recordings of Def Leppard classics by Balls' star DAN FOGLER with Danny Saber on "Pour Some Sugar On Me" as well as "Rock Of Ages" by supergroup LoudLion (featuring members of Rooney, The Donnas and more) and the title track "Balls Of Fury" by Craig Wedren. This hilarious film is a comedy cult classic and this party-fueled mullet-lovin' hard rockin' album is the perfect companion.

Mellencamp Hits The Road

Press Release / Newsletter

John Mellencamp will embark on a fall tour, bringing his songs, music and voice to arenas across 10 states in America's heartland. The tour kicks off October 26th continuing to mid-November for a total of 14 concert dates on its first leg.

Mellencamp and his touring band -the same group of musicians who record with him - will appear before audiences in Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and his native Indiana. A broad spectrum of Mellencamp's repertoire, reflecting four decades of recording and performing, will be represented.

Mellencamp commented, "We're looking forward to playing these dates. The band is sounding great and our intention is to give audiences a fantastic show."

Mellencamp and the band, consisting of Mike Wanchic, (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Dane Clark (drums), John Gunnell (bass), Miriam Sturm (violin) and Troye Kinnett (keyboards) has been in Mellencamp's Belmont Mall studio, near Bloomington, IN, working on a new album project, as yet untitled, that is being produced by T Bone Burnett. It is expected that some of the unreleased songs from those sessions will be performed during the course of the upcoming tour dates.

Prior to the tour, Mellencamp will perform on NBC's NFL kickoff telecast on Thursday, September 6th before the Indiana Colts vs. New Orleans Saints' season opener. Following that, Mellencamp will journey to New York's Randall's Island where, on Sunday, September 9th, he will perform as part of this year's Farm Aid 2007: A Home Grown Festival along with his Farm Aid co-founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds plus The Allman Brothers Band, Counting Crows, Matisyahu, Guster, The Derek Trucks Band, Warren Haynes, Supersuckers, The Ditty Bops, Montgomery Gentry and others.

Queensryche "Take Cover"

Press Release

Queensrÿche pay tribute to some of their favorite songs with an adventurous collection of covers that range from Black Sabbath and The O'Jays to Italian opera and Broadway musical. Singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate, guitarists Michael Wilton and Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson, and drummer Scott Rockenfield put their stamp on 11 classic tracks with TAKE COVER. The album is available November 13 at regular physical retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested price of $13.98, with a digital version also available for the suggested price of $7.99. The album will also be released on 180-gram vinyl on November 20 for a suggested price of $13.98.

Not known for playing many covers live, Tate says the album gave the band a chance to relax and have some fun. "During sound checks, Stone and Michael like to play 'name that riff,' and sometimes the whole band joins in. That's really the way this album came together too. We got together and started playing songs to each other, and then we picked our favorites."

The eclectic list of songs reflects the members' divergent tastes and includes a few surprising selections such as "Heaven On Their Minds" from the hit musical Jesus Christ Superstar, the O'Jays R&B classic "For Love Of Money" and an operatic epic originally performed by the Italian duo of Carlo Marrale and Cheope, "Odissea." Recognized as an accomplished vocalist, Tate says he enjoyed the song's demanding arrangement. "I really like this song because there is a lot for a singer to sink his teeth into, plus I got a chance to sing in Italian, which was interesting considering I don't speak a word of it."

The set covers a lot of ground both lyrically and musically, opening with "Innuendo," Queen's epic song about life and death; "Almost Cut My Hair," Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's paean to freedom; and the medieval metal of Black Sabbath's "Neon Knights." Starting September 5, Queensrÿche and Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio (touring as Heaven And Hell), will play a month of North American concerts. Says Tate, "Ronnie took us out on our first European tour and he's always been good to us. With the tour coming up, this seemed like a nice way to pay tribute to him. I hope he likes it, or I'm sure I'll hear about it every night of the tour."

TAKE COVER also features Queensrÿche's distinctive arrangement of Pink Floyd's "Welcome To The Machine," an acoustic version of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," and a highly charged live version of U2's "Bullet The Blue Sky." "We'll never top the originals; they're classics for a reason," Tate says. "We were more focused on finding different approaches that took the songs in unexpected directions."

Singing Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain" and the Police's "Synchronicity II,"

Tate says, were opportunities for him to explore music he'd previously overlooked. "I'd heard these songs on the radio before, but I didn't really appreciate them before the guys suggested we record them. It was a rewarding experience doing this album because it gave us all a chance to pay tribute to some of the bands that have meant so much to us over the years, and we all discovered new songs to love."

Tyketto "The Last Time"

Artist Release

Danny Vaughn updated fans about the recent Tyketto rumors, below is just a sample of what was posted. You can read the full posting by visiting: blog.myspace.com

As usual, the rumors have beat us to the punch but here it is, straight from the source......

Tyketto, with all 4 original members will be playing 4 shows in the month of October.

We were extremely flattered to be asked to be a part of the exceptional line up at this year's Firefest. We all had a great time when we reunited in 2004 and the reaction of the fans was fantastic. But, as we forged ahead and put together a few more shows around the Firefest date we realized something: this is going to be the last time that Tyketto will perform together. First, there is the simple fact that each of us has very different lives and family situations. Recording and touring just isn't ever going to be a possibility again. Also, we all agreed that too many bands these days are "reunited" with only 1 or 2 original members, or doing a "farewell" tour every year!

We have always had too great a respect for the fans that kept us going for so long to try and sell them on something cheap and watered down. So you're never going to see something like "Danny Vaughn's Tyketto" or Jimi Kennedy's Tyketto". If it ain't the 4 of us it ain't gonna happen.

So here are the shows:
OCT. 26 MADRID, SPAIN (Venue to be announced)
OCT. 27 FIREFEST, NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND
OCT. 28 BIEBOB, VOSSELAAR, BELGIUM
OCT. 30 THE ROSETTA, BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

And that's it!!!!!
The 4 of us have always agreed that we would never do this unless it was going to be fun. And this is going to be a blast!

The last time we played Madrid we were all amazed by the singing and the happiness of the fans. So to add to the mix we will also have famed Spanish guitarist Jorge Salan opening up for us.

Firefest will be the perfect way for us to say good bye and thank you to our most amazingly loyal UK fans.

Switchfoot Goes Independent

August.23rd.2007 - Thursday

Switchfoot finally updated fans via their latest newsletter, read the big news below..

As many of you have already heard through our blog, this is an exciting month for the foot family. After several years of trying to make things work over at Columbia we have officially severed our ties with sony to pursue making music independently. We are thankful for the incredible success that our partnership has produced over the years, yet within this ever changing business there can arise differences in vision and goals. These differences have now come to a point where we feel like parting ways would be best for us, and best for sony.

As a hands-on band, we feel so grateful for our newfound freedom. We are continually dreaming up ways to bridge the gap between the audience and the stage; this feels like an incredible step in that direction. A huge thank you to bob, amy, nicole and tim over at columbia who were there from the beginning. We would also like to thank our musical family here in the states and abroad for sticking with us through these columbia years. We couldn't have done it without you!

We'll have more information for you as things shape up. In the meantime, here are several projects already in the works for the next year:

• four jon foreman solo ep's (tentatively titled fall, winter, spring, and summer)
• the real sean jon(a collaboration between jon foreman and sean watkins of nickel creek fame)
• a new switchfoot record in '08 (the first 13 tracks were cut earlier this month!)

New Podcast: yup. oh yeah, we think it rules. subscribe and download free from iTunes here, or stream it for free from our site here.

Hello friends! Well, as you recently heard, we have signed with Universal. Our deal was done with Tooth & Nail, and we decided to take a chance and trust some new people that really believe in our band. It was one of the most difficult things we’ve had to do as a band because we are so in love with our family at T&N and will continue to work with them on plenty of projects for years to come. Speaking of, we are working on a b-sides record that will hopefully come out later this year. More info on this in the coming weeks.

But getting back to the signing to a major thing, please do not think we plan on drastically changing anything. We are the same band and plan to stay that way. We do not think we have “arrived” by any means (or even close to it). This business, now more than ever, is definitely NOT a sure thing, and selling records is harder than it has ever been. Actually, now that we’re on a major label, we plan on working all that much harder and give this our best shot. Anyways, there you go. Enough on that.

Deana Carter Unveils "The Chain"

Press Release

Award-winning singer/songwriter/performer Deana Carter unveils "The Chain," her fifth studio record Oct. 9 on Vanguard Records.

Each of the 12 songs on The Chain has a special importance to Deana, who personally chose material that had a great impact on her early life. She took the same care in recruiting collaborators for the project, assembling a group of musicians who influenced her as an artist -- none more greatly than her father, legendary session player Fred Carter, Jr, who performs throughout the album. "Ever since I knew that music was going to be my life's path, I've wanted to pay tribute to my dad and to the artists who were so good to me and my family. The camaraderie between them, and the way they took our family and made it part of their families, was so unique that I wanted to recapture it for a little while." states Deana.

The Chain features duets with Deana and some of country music's royalty: Kris Kristofferson (Help Me Make It Through The Night), Dolly Parton (Love Is Like A Butterfly), Jessi Colter (I'm Not Lisa), Willie Nelson (On The Road Again), George Jones (He Thinks I Still Care) and John Anderson (Swingin'). The CD also includes two of music's rising stars, Shooter Jennings on "Good Hearted Woman", the song made famous by his father, the great Waylon Jennings, and Harper Simon on "The Boxer," a nod to his dad, Paul Simon who plays guitar on this track. The Chain also features stunning solo recordings of Deana performing such classics as "Lay Lady Lay", "The Weight", "Crying" and "Old Man".

Produced and arranged by Deana Carter, The Chain is a musical feast and celebration of one's past and influences.

A multi-platinum recording artist, Deana Carter burst into the music scene with the blockbuster album Did I Shave My Legs for This? (1996) that produced four No. 1 hit singles. Her additional releases included Everything's Gonna Be Alright, Father Christmas, I'm Just A Girl, Greatest Hits and The Story Of My Life. She has performed on countless television shows and network specials and yielded a Golden Globe and Grammy nomination for the song Once Upon A December from the animated film Anastasia.

Alice Cooper's Record Awards & Jacket Hit The Auction Block

Press Release

Backstage Auctions is proud to present Rock History -- Cleveland Style auction featuring memorabilia that once graced the walls of Alice Cooper'stown restaurant in Cleveland. The online auction event will begin on Sunday, September 23 and will run for one week ending on Sunday, September 30.

Alice Cooper'stown is the place where jock's and rock meet, at least they did in Cleveland for 5 years. Memorabilia from the restaurant will be auctioned in the Rock History -- Cleveland Style auction hosted by Backstage Auctions next month.

The restaurant, which opened its doors in 2001, had a five year license agreement with Alice Cooper. A logic combination of Cleveland's Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame was the perfect union of sorts. When the agreement expired in 2006, the owner Tim Rose, changed the restaurant to a sports themed café leaving boxes of unbelievable rock and roll collectibles without a home. "I met Tim earlier this year when I was in Cleveland working with David Spero on the Rock History -- Cleveland Style auction and it was nothing more than perfect timing and a perfect fit for our upcoming auction," says Backstage Auctions founder Jacques van Gool.

Some of the most impressive pieces include several of Alice Cooper's gold and platinum record awards, a custom made leather jacket worn in the movie "Wayne's World" and used on tour in the early '90s, a great collection of posters, artwork and celebrity signed items. "The auction will also feature signed Aerosmith and AC/DC guitars and stacks of photos featuring Alice with a wide array of celebrities," comments van Gool.

Equally exciting, the auction will also feature the private collection of well known rock and roll manager and Cleveland-based industry icon David Spero. Spero's collection is a 40 year walk down rock history, with each piece telling a story and chronicling his career in the music industry. Spero's talent roster reads like a who's who of rock and roll; managing or working along side Joe Walsh, The Eagles, Harry Nilsson, Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, James Gang, Styx, Survivor, Ian Hunter, Don Felder, Eric Carmen, Michael Stanley, Sam Moore, Dickey Betts, JD Souther and Billy Bob Thornton ... just to name a few.

The online auction event will begin on Sunday, September 23 and will run for one week ending on Sunday, September 30. The full auction catalog, which will feature over 700 auction lots, will be available online to view beginning Sunday, September 16 at www.backstageauctions.com.

Melissa Etheridge "The Awakening" + New Single

August.16th.2007 - Thursday

Multi-platinum Oscar®-winner and two time Grammy®-winner Melissa Etheridge will release her first studio album in 3½ years, THE AWAKENING, on September 25, 2007 on Island Records. Her 9th studio album, THE AWAKENING, has been described as a collection of powerful and playful yet confessional and engaging songs that are personal as well as universal. THE AWAKENING was co-produced with David Cole and recorded with her band: bassist Mark Browne, drummer Mauricio 'Fritz' Lewak, and guitarist Philip Sayce.

The first single, "Message to Myself," goes to radio on July 30. It rides an indelible pop hook that is surely Melissa’s most buoyant sing-along. The sly "Threesome" is a country-rocker that is unlikely to be covered by Carrie Underwood. Other songs include "California," "An Unexpected Rain," "I've Loved You Before" and "The Universe Listened." They are poetically detailed chapters of her remarkable life and the epiphanies along the way.

"The album is my story and my journey. I hope that it will ring universally," states Melissa. "I began to retrace the path of my own American dream: from my early years in California in the ‘80s, to my dream for fame and fortune and my sad realization of the false images that lead so many of us into misery," elaborates Melissa. The story begins with Melissa's first steps, continuing through her well-chronicled rise to fame as a rock star, activist, parent of four, cancer survivor, and 2007 Academy Award winner for her song "I Need To Wake Up."

Melissa's first album, Melissa Etheridge (1988), was a critically-acclaimed debut that led to an invitation to sing on the 1989 Grammy® Awards broadcast. For several years, her popularity built around such memorable originals as "Bring Me Some Water," "No Souvenirs" and "Ain't It Heavy," for which she won a Grammy® in 1992. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am (1993). The collection featured the massive hits, "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My Window," a searing song of longing that brought Etheridge her second Grammy® Award for Best Female Rock Performance.

In 1995, Etheridge issued her highest charting album, Your Little Secret, which was distinguished by the hit single, "I Want to Come Over." Her astounding success that year led to Etheridge receiving the Songwriter of the Year honor at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996.

Melissa continued to write, record, and tour throughout the ‘90s and into the new millennium, releasing Skin (2001) and the upbeat Lucky (2004) along with her DVDs Live And Alone (2002) and Lucky Live (2004). 2005 marked the release of Greatest Hits: The Road Less Traveled, which includes "I Run for Life," commissioned by Ford Cares as part of their cancer initiative in support of The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. The album was recently re-released in an Eco-pak, to include Melissa's Oscar® winning song "I Need To Wake Up."

In April 2007, Melissa Etheridge received the distinguished ASCAP Founders Award honoring the anthemic power, compassion, and generosity of spirit of her music, and her enduring status as one of the greatest all-time female rock icons.

"This is my ninth album and I wanted to get back to why I love music," Melissa says of The Awakening. "It's already a success for me. I got to create it. That was the fun and joy."

The new single, Message To Myself is now on iTunes, Click Here To Purchase.
