Harem Scarem - Updates:

A press release has been issued which refers to the release date of the upcoming Harem Scarem album. We've posted it in it's entirety below:

We have hired Oliver Hausler / Artistworxx to do promotion for the new H.S. release Human Nature for all of Europe. After discussing the promotional strategies / options we have decided to postpone the release to January 12th, 2007. As we all know December would be an extremely difficult time to get the attention this release deserves. We will be offering the single Human Nature digitally as of December 6th as originally planned.

Early reviews from Japan and Europe have been calling the record "The Moodswings of 06". The entire record will be played at FF3 in between bands by our good friend Kieran Dargan! (if he's not to drunk)....

Digital download of the title track Human Nature will be available for the GOLD members on December 6th. FOR FREE! On November 1st we're also starting very cool download serial. The GOLD members will have the chance to get all Minotaur demo recordings, plus one extra track! Each month, one track - until you have them all! Are you interested? Then join The Harem GOLD to get extra goodies, free Harem Scarem merchandise, exclusive updates and more!

Blackhawk - Release Pushed Back...Again (Island Report):
We've been following this disc since we first got word about it back in January. It turns out the release of their new disc has been pushed back for the (I lost count) time. Anthony from the band posted the following on the band official website about a week ago:

"The summer is over and touring draws to a close. The new CD is to be released next year and so this opens up the space and time for personal projects. Everyone was living in great expectations for a release to radio but as Henry has said that the first Blackhawk Cd sat on the shelf for a year and the rest is history. I am the most pessimistic one of the group and some how I have come to terms with the timeline. We all need to be patient and see what happens...What other option is there? Thanks for your enthusiasms and we will keep on jamming our way to a town near you... "

We'll make sure to keep up on what's happen and report back when we hear more. In the mean time keep checking www.blackhawkmusic.us for up to date information.

The Vanished - New EP Coming?:

If your a fan of The Vanished you might have noticed that their website is currently down. The following is posted on their website:

i94 - In The Studio:

The band recently released their Acoustic Sessions CD but fans can now get ready for another new disc.

"We are in the studio right now recording our new album Gas Money. We're really excited about these new songs. We're recording drums and bass at Angelo's studio and vocals, guitar and keyboards at Mark's studio. This album is packed full of strong songs and we are at the stage of putting the final guitars and vocals on the tracks. We're looking forward to everyone hearing this record."

UK Music Hall Of Fame 2006 (Press Release):

Bon Jovi and James Brown in line for Britain’s music honours list.

Legends of rock and soul to perform live at Alexandra Palace.

Channel 4 and Initial yesterday revealed that Bon Jovi and James Brown will be inducted into the UK Music Hall Of Fame this year and will perform live at the event on 14th November.

There are few acts in the world that can deliver stadium shows of massive proportions, release continuous hit albums and solicit an entire new generation of fans 23 years into their career. Bon Jovi is that band.

Bon Jovi are responsible for some of the most recognizable hits of the past 20 years, including "It’s My Life", "Livin' on a Prayer", "Wanted Dead or Alive” and their most recent number 1 “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” They have sold over one hundred million albums around the world, performed more than 2,500 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 32 million people. Following the success of their ninth hit album, the band has never been as popular and shows no sign of slowing down.

“The Godfather of Soul”, James Brown is considered by many to be the most legendary living artist on the planet. With hits including “Papa’s Got a brand new bag”, “Get Up (Sex Machine)”, "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" and “I Feel Good (I Got You)” he is the most sampled musician in history. Still touring into his seventies, he’s certainly living up to his other moniker as, “The hardest working man in showbusiness”.

Alongside James Brown and Bon Jovi, the show will also see one of the hottest new talents in the UK, singer-songwriter James Morrison performing a tribute to inductee Rod Stewart. The line up will also include Brian Wilson and his band performing live; British soul sensation Joss Stone and R&B legend Patti LaBelle performing two of Dusty Springfield’s greatest hits and rock’s latest stars, Wolfmother performing a tribute to Led Zeppelin.

Now in its third year, The UK Music Hall of Fame 2006 Induction Ceremony will for the second year running be staged at London’s Alexandra Palace, hosted by Dermot O’Leary. The event will take place on Tuesday 14th November and will be transmitted on Channel 4 on 16th November and on VH1 in the USA on 25th November. Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe will be presenting his show live from the event on 14th November between 10.00pm-12.00midnight.

Inductees announced so far for this year’s event are Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart and now Bon Jovi and James Brown.

These six will join Sir George Martin who is receiving this year's Honorary Membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music.

The Darkness - Lead Singer.... (Island Report):

Another item to put in the "Who Didn't See This Coming" section. Justin Hawkins (lead singer) has officially left The Darkness. The other band members have mentioned that they are in fact going to push forward without him. A statement was posted on The Darkness Official Web Forum:

"We're sorry that you had to find this out through the newspapers, but we were hoping until the last minute that this - Justin's exit - wasn't going to happen. We - Dan, Ed and Richie - are still in total shock and can't say at this stage what the future holds. We would like to thank all our fans, partners and family for their continuous support. You will hear from us, once we know what we want to do..."

Now according to their statement they are still in shock over this whole ordeal but in other reports the other members are going to continue on in some form. Justin was quoted as saying "I feel bad for the others, but I can't do it any more."

In the coming days, weeks & months I'm sure there will be more information on this subject.

StorySide:B Adds Special Track:

The band posted a message yesterday via myspace letting fans know that they've added a special track for everyone to listen to.

"We wanted to let everyone know that we now have our version of Dc Talks song, "In The Light" up on our myspace by popular demand. Be sure to listen all the way through to the end...hahaha. There is a little surprise that we left on there that didn't make the record."

Jack Blades Talks Night Ranger & More:
There hasn't been a ton of information on Night Ranger or even the Shaw/Blades project. Recently Jack posted a little bit of information via his myspace page as well as the Night Ranger Forum.

We are mixing the new Night Ranger album. Should have that all wrapped up by end of October. I think King records will release it in Japan end of Jan. And same for Frontiers in Europe. Good rockin stuff on the record.

We have cut a deal with Sony/BMG for them to release a live record of our shows in Japan in 2003.

Tommy and I (Shaw/Blades) are doing the Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding in Phoenix Ariz this Dec. 16. Maybe a few surprise Shaw/Blades shows before the release of the CD.

Shaw/Blades "Influence" set for Feb 13 release with VH1 Classic. first single "Your Move" will be released mid-Jan. 07. We will be touring behind in mid Feb-thru March. Should be fun. We are setting up the stage like it is our living room and in fact we will have winners sit in couches on stage with us.

Manilow - First & Farewell - 2 Disc DVD & New Disc:

After more than 30 years, Barry Manilow said goodbye to the road with a once-in-a-lifetime 2004 concert. Capturing the final performance of his Farewell Tour at The Pond in Anaheim, the two-DVD set First & Farewell features more than 90 minutes of performance. Also included is never-before-seen footage of Manilow's first rehearsal at Carroll's Studio in New York City, where he prepared for his very first tour in 1974. It marks the first time the singer was recorded on videotape. Bonus footage includes performances from Manilow's One Night Live! concert in Vegas and his One Night Live! One Last Time! show in Chicago. Includes 5.1 Surround mixes. [149 MIN.; COLOR/B&W; NOT RATED]

Look for this DVD set to hit stores October 31st. A true legend in the music world who's been on a roll this year. If you didn't pick up Barry's January release "The Greatest Songs of the Fifties" it comes highly recommended.

Now in the title above I said "New Disc." That's correct, Barry's not done releasing material this year. The same day his 2 disc DVD set drops a new album entitled "The Greatest Songs of the Sixties" will be released as well. Similar to what Rod Stewart & Michael Bolton have been releasing lately, Manilow takes a crack at the songs from the 60's that are truly guilty pleasures.

Bad Side - All I Can Get:

This is a time limited opportunity so act fast. Bad Side has added a new song to their myspace page, a demo called "All I Can Get." The song will only be up for a few days as they are continuing to record new material in Nashville.

Tons of great guitar riff's through-out the song and do I hear a duet vocal in there? Check it out for yourself: www.myspace.com/badsidemusic

Switchfoot Adds New Material:

Switchfoot share even more new material. If you've been keeping up with the band then this isn't new to you. For those who aren't aware, Switchfoot posted 2 new songs via their myspace page recently. The song "Dirty Second Hands" which can be purchases on iTunes & now the title track from the upcoming album "Oh Gravity." The material is a bit different then their past 2 releases but already fans are asking for more.

The band will be pre-selling their album via their official website and at shows beginning Oct. 17th, and giving away a free 3-song EP of new unreleased songs with each pre-order.

In The Studio - Upcoming Shows:

For those who like Rockline, In The Studio is very similar. This isn't a live show but a recording of an interview done with a musician. They go through their album and talk about songs, lyrics and other bits and pieces.

Here are the upcoming shows:

Week 10/9 - Lindsey Buckingham
In part two of "The Best of Lindsey Buckingham," the Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter/lead guitarist reveals some controversial opinions about his role in the success of Rumours, the fifth-biggest selling rock album of all time.

Week 10/16 - Kansas
For the band Kansas, the fourth time was the charm. Leftoverture was do-or-die for these Topeka progressive rockers, & on its 30th anniversary, Redbeard convenes original members Kerry Livgren, Steve Walsh, Robbie Steinhart, Richard Williams & Phil Ehart for the saga of "Carry On Wayward Son," "The Wall," "What's On My Mind"&"Miracles Out of Nowhere."

Week 10/23 - AC/DC
It's pretty well known that AC/DC is from Australia, but do you realize that band founders Malcolm & Angus Young were born half a world away in Scotland? The story of how the Young Brothers emigrated "Down Under" with their family, only to later become that country's most popular musical ambassadors, is a modern-day fable.

Week 10/30 - Led Zeppelin

Bat Out Of Hell III - Premiere Performance:
Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell III premiere performance at Toronto's Elgin Theatre on November 4 sold out in just minutes. "This was one of the hottest tickets I have ever put on sale in Toronto," says House of Blues Canada promoter, Emmanual Patterson, "and after just three minutes, we had none left to sell for the momentous return of Bat Out Of Hell." The quick sell-out of this one-night-only event follows on the heels of Meat Loaf's London Royal Albert Hall show (October 16), which also sold out in just a few minutes as well when it went on sale in September. Meat Loaf's "Bat Out Of Hell on Broadway" show at New York's
Palace Theatre on November 2nd will go on sale this Saturday, October 7 at
9:00 am. Tickets available at Ticketmaster.com. Based on the quick
sell-outs in London & Toronto, New York area fans hoping to see the show
will have to act quickly. Pre-sale tickets are available now, info
available at www.meatloaf.net or www.Ticketmaster.com.

"I was totally blown away by the immediate impact that the announcement
of this performance solicited from the diehard Bat Out Of Hell fans," added
Patterson about the Toronto show. "The epic new song and cinematic video
have obviously struck a new chord in the hearts of his multi-generational
audience and clearly demonstrate that Bat Out Of Hell continues to endure
as rock's most epic adventure."

The show itself will feature music from Bat Out Of Hell I & II and, for
the first time ever, live performances from the brand new album Bat Out Of
Hell III: The Monster is Loose, which will be released on Halloween
(October 31) by Virgin/EMI Music.

The trilogy is completed with his three-act show: Act 1 featuring songs
from the original 1977 album Bat Out Of Hell (including "Paradise by the
Dashboard Light," "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad"), Act 2 with songs from the
Grammy-winning Bat Out Of Hell 2 - Back into Hell (including "I'd Do
Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)") and Act III featuring brand-new
songs from the forthcoming Bat Out Of Hell III - The Monster is Loose,
premiering live for the first time ever in Canada.

Bat Out Of Hell III - The Monster is Loose (Virgin Records Canada),
which will be released on Halloween, marks the culmination of a
three-decade journey for Meat Loaf. Combined, the first two Bat albums sold
nearly 50 million copies worldwide, establishing Bat Out Of Hell as a true
musical franchise. Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is Loose captures the
theatricality, elegance and melodicism of the first two albums, while
infusing an even more diverse, dynamic approach. The first single, the Jim
Steinman-penned "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," is a sweeping, stirring
duet with international star Marion Raven that is as powerful as it is
passionate. For more information, please visit www.meatloaf.net.

Slash & Others Go Volkswagen:

If you haven't seen the new commercial yet, you soon will. Below is the press release which talks about John Mayer, Slash and Christopher Guest working with Volkswagen on a first-of-its-kind musical collaboration.

In a move only Volkswagen could conceive, the iconic brand has teamed up with guitar industry innovator First Act Inc. for a first-of-its-kind musical collaboration that will rock potential car buyers and create a whole new segment of players. Beginning October 3 and continuing through December 31, any customer that purchases or leases a designated Volkswagen model from the new 2007 line -- including Jetta, Jetta GLI, GTI, Rabbit, New Beetle and New Beetle Convertible -- will receive their own completely customized First Act GarageMaster electric guitar that will play seamlessly through the car's existing audio system. The 2006 Jetta, Jetta GLI, GTI, Rabbit, New Beetle and New Beetle Convertible will also come with a custom-made First Act GarageMaster guitar. Each electric guitar is a wholly unique, one-of-a-kind instrument and is available exclusively to those who purchase or lease one of these Volkswagen models through a Volkswagen dealer. No other manufacturer offers a musical experience quite like this to its customers.

The program will be supported through an extensive national television campaign, featuring Grammy-winning artist John Mayer, Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash (formerly of Guns N' Roses) and actor Christopher Guest, well known for his portrayal of Nigel Tufnel in This Is Spinal Tap, as well as through print and radio. Customers can log onto www.v-dubsrock.com to learn about the Volkswagen program specifics, First Act GarageMaster electric guitar, take interactive guitar lessons with Dweezil Zappa and more.

The First Act GarageMaster electric guitar is a work of customized pop culture art and will undoubtedly become a coveted piece of Volkswagen's music- rich history. Each electric guitar will display the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the owner's Volkswagen vehicle and will also have custom colored pick guards complementing the exterior of the car. The guitar will feature the traditional Volkswagen logo and "V Dub" inlay, a guitar strap made of safety belts, VW knobs, a prominent blue indicator light that matches the trademark instrument panel lighting of Volkswagen vehicles, VW logo guitar picks and a carrying case to take the music anywhere. Volkswagen owners can now create a concert in their garage, play for the entire tailgate party or shred in the beach parking lot.

"The partnership with First Act is the next iteration of Volkswagen's longstanding history with music," said Volkswagen's Director of Brand Innovation Kerri Martin. "The Volkswagen brand is culturally known for its celebration of music and all things creative; this exciting collaboration makes a statement that Volkswagen is a brand with innovative ideas and an unparalleled ability to create unique and appealing connections with its consumers."

"We are excited to be working with Volkswagen because of what our two brands can generate together. Like Volkswagen, we value technological innovation and inspired design," said Bernard Chiu, First Act's Chairman of the Board. "Through this partnership, we've created a revolutionary way for players to perform, with a groundbreaking guitar design and an exciting way to play it," added First Act's Vice President of Marketing, Jeff Walker.

Each First Act GarageMaster guitar has a built-in pre-amp that allows the guitar to plug directly into Volkswagen's auxiliary jack. The pre-amp features First Act's proprietary V-Stack Technology, an analog modeling technique that emulates vintage amplifiers. This innovative technology and promotion brings together car lovers and music lovers alike. The car and music culture become one and creates a unique sense of self-expression.

Danny Vaughn - Traveller & More:
A ton of Danny Vaughn information for everyone. Danny posted some details about his upcoming album via his myspace page:

Okay, let's start with the new album. It is currently in the very capable hands of Dennis Ward from Pink Cream 69, who is going to finish the whole process off with his mastering skills. The hardest thing about the album for us is that we are all very excited about it and now we have to wait until Feb. or March of 2007 to release it. Simply put, Frontiers Records has a very busy schedule and they wanted to wait for a time when they could devote plenty of attention to us. So I'm all in favor of that. We are also talking about putting together a very cool package tour with 2 other bands you are definitely going to want to see for the UK and Europe in the spring. Fingers crossed it all goes ahead.

For those that might not have heard, the new album is called TRAVELLER and I've got a complete song list for you:
1. MIRACLE DAYS
2. BADLANDS RAIN
3. TRAVELLER
4. RESTLESS BLOOD
5. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAYS
6. THE TOUCH OF YOUR HAND
7. LIFTED
8. THE WARRIOR'S WAY
9. THE MEASURE OF A MAN
10. THINK OF ME IN THE FALL
11. DEATH OF THE TIGER
12. BETTER BY FAR

And our version of the song, SPEAKING IN TONGUES will be the bonus track on the Japanese version. When it gets around Christmas time, I'm going to post some snippets of a couple of the songs here on the site just to keep you interested. www.myspace.com/vaughnband

Update Oct. 3rd, 2006:

Just a quick note this time from the whole band to thank everyone involved in the UFOR2 show at the Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The show was sold out, the bands all played well, and the crowd was fantastic. We had a listening party for press only (sorry about that) in the early part of the day and it was the first time for the whole band to hear our new album, (5 songs of it, anyway) "Traveller", now finished and mastered, blasting out of a nice p.a. system upstairs in the Rockfabrik. There were 30 or 40 journalists there (and I felt a little like a goldfish in a bowl) and the response that I got from them was very positive. More than one person said to me, "the Tyketto fans are going to love this". I certainly hope that's true, and I hope we'll discover lots of new fans with this one as well. The band felt great and put on a strong show in what was a very hot club. We couldn't have been happier with the audience. Thanks to everyone that sang, clapped, and banged your heads. And thanks to everyone that came to the signing session for autographs, photos, and to say "hello".

The only down side for me (if you can call it that) was that I was kept so busy that I didn't get to see many of the bands. However, I was rocked by both Gary John Barden ( a real pro and a gentleman), and the Pretty Maids. Excellent sets from both those bands.

The new album will be released in February and we are looking to get out there and play as much as possible in Europe and the U.K. in the early spring. Keep the faith until then and from Tony, Lee, Steve, Pat, and myself, to all of the friends, fans, journalists and record company people that made the whole trip a blast....

Danke Schoen

Bon Jovi Action Figures? (Island Report):

Just when you thought you've heard & seen it all from Bon Jovi, something like this comes up. First the band goes off the deep-end and releases an album that completely destroys their greatest hits (This Left Feels Right). Then they promise a full blown rocker album in Have A Nice Day, which of course it wasn't even close. Of course they had success with the country track Who Says You Can't Go Home. Now the band is working on a full blown country album which we mentioned before. After all the disappointments lately you'd assume the band would use some caution.

This information just adds to the "What Are You Thinking Bon Jovi?" category.

McFarlane Toys will immortalize New Jersey rock icons Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora as action figures.

Bon Jovi and Sambora will join McFarlane's line of music based action figures in July 2007.

"Bon Jovi is one of the most consistent and recognizable rock bands of all time," says McFarlane Toys CEO Todd McFarlane. "Not only did they rock stadiums and arenas during the 80s, but they have also been doing it in the 90s and now. We are looking forward to reproducing the likeness of Jon and Richie and bringing them to the fans."

"We are looking forward to reproducing the likeness of Jon and Richie and bringing them to the fans."

The only thing that isn't mentioned is if the action figures will be modeled after the 1980s glam look or the band's current Polished style.

I'm sure there will be more information on this soon. I'll make sure to post additional details as I receive them.

New Album Review - Comatose:
Before reading the review, here's a piece of the press release:

Classic rock riffs, swirling drums, monstrous hooks, and undeniably catchy choruses hints of old school progressive rock mixed in with modern alternative flourishes touches of classical influence as swelling strings intersect with sonic adrenaline rushes. Its indeed a fusion unlike any other, marking the latest chapter in the continuous evolution of Skillet, whose moniker couldn't be more fitting for their explosive new Lava/Atlantic Records release, Comatose.

The project follows Skillets 2004 Lava/Atlantic debut Collide, which launched the group into the mainstream with the single Savior, and garnered the quartet a prestigious nomination at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Rock Gospel Album category. Collide went on to become their best-selling project to date, with over 200,000 units sold, while the band played some 200 dates a year including tours with the likes of Three Days Grace, Saliva, Shinedown, and 12 Stones in the process becoming one of the hardest working, heaviest rocking, boldly witnessing, and most broadly appealing acts of its generation.

Comatose will be released in stores tomorrow, October 3rd.

Album Review Snippet:

1. Rebirthing - Shocking is the word I'd use to describe this track. From start to finish there's a massive build up of energy that's being released. A true rocker in every sense of the word! Not only does the song contain some.... Read The Full Review Here.
