Hawthorne Heights Guitarist Passes

November.28th.2007 - Wednesday

Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert, 26, was pronounced dead on Saturday after police were called to the band's tour bus outside Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club around 2:30 p.m. and found him unconscious. The Washington Post reported that Calvert's death came one day after he and his bandmates — frontman JT Woodruff, guitarist Micah Carli, bassist Matt Ridenour and drummer Eron Bucciarelli — boarded the bus to begin their Wintour 2007 outing, which kicked off Friday night in Detroit. Police are still awaiting results of an autopsy, though some reports speculate that his death might have been caused by a pre-existing condition related to acute asthma.

EXTREME - New Record & World Tour In '08

Press Release

EXTREME are set to return in the spring of 2008 with their first album of all new material in 13 years. The band features original members NUNO BETTENCOURT (guitar), GARY CHERONE (vocals) and PAT BADGER (bass), along with new drummer KEVIN FIGUEIREDO.

In the coming weeks, EXTREME will announce their plans for a world tour in 2008 as well as a release date and label for the as yet untitled album, which is being produced by BETTENCOURT, who says: "It will have all the ingredients of an EXTREME record. The music is always Funkier than most rock bands-and born a Bipolar Bastard child of Mr. Zeppelin and Mrs. Beatles."

The Grammy-nominated EXTREME have released four albums, plus two greatest hits sets-selling over 10 million records worldwide-and completed multiple world tours. They also achieved a #1 hit single, "More Than Words"-from their 1990 multi-platinum album Extreme II: Pornograffitti-on the Billboard Hot 100, which they followed with the Top Five "Hole Hearted." Although these two acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, it overshadowed the band's trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their predecessors Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen-fueled by BETTENCOURT's signature guitar flights and CHERONE's resonant vocals-and matched with a social consciousness in their lyrics. A career highlight came for EXTREME when Queen's Brian May asked them to perform at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert in 1992, which gave the band considerable credibility beyond the hard rock fraternity.

EXTREME have been introduced to a new generation of music fans who are connecting with the band through MySpace as a result of the inclusion of their song "Play With Me" on 2007's "Guitar Hero" video game. Outside of EXTREME, CHERONE joined Van Halen as lead singer in 1998, co-writing the Van Halen III album and touring the world with them. BETTENCOURT joined up with Jane's Addiction front man Perry Farrell to form the band Satellite Party and co-produce their album Ultra Payloaded. Satellite Party also consisted of drummer KEVIN FIGUIEREDO, whom was previously in a band with BETTENCOURT called Dramagods.

Through the years, BETTENCOURT and CHERONE have remained close and continued to collaborate on occasion. But what exactly inspired them to rejoin forces as EXTREME?

"Rock and Roll Famine.I know it might sound crazy, but there is a massive shortage of rock and roll on this planet," says BETTENCOURT. "It's almost extinct. I mean the true spirit of quality rock and roll-you know, Musicianship, when you would give up every moment of your day to master your instrument and create your own identity and sound so as to respectfully outdo all your past heroes whilst proudly wearing the badge of their influences."

"Passion," says BETTENCOURT, is what drives EXTREME. "To do whatever it takes, with integrity, to bring music to the people, not because of fame.but just cause you simply couldn't wait to share it with them."

"We realized," adds BETTENCOURT, "not only are the people starved for rock and roll...So are we. Let's eat."

Look for the Boston-based group to perform Saturday, December 1 at the Boston Music Awards at the Orpheum Theatre.

'For more than two hours, the gods delivered.' - Rolling Stone

In the midst of one of the most highly anticipated and successful tours of the year, Van Halen announced today that they will extend their historic tour into 2008. The 2007 tour has drawn over 600,000 fans thus far with sold out shows in cities across America, winning the praise of fans and critics alike. "From the first power chords of "You Really Got Me," the band hit a hard groove that didn't let up for the next two hours," said the New York Daily News. The Hollywood Reporter said: "For one perfect night ... Van Halen was nothing short of spectacular."

Tickets for the San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Omaha, New Orleans, Charlottesville, Hershey, and Atlantic City dates will go on sale Saturday December 1st and East Rutherford and New York will go on sale Monday December 3rd and are available at www.livenation.com and Ticketmaster. Kevin DuBrow Found Dead

November.26th.2007 - Monday

Kevin DuBrow, lead singer of the popular 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot, has been found dead from unknown causes at his home in Las Vegas, authorities said on Monday.

DuBrow, 52, was found dead at about 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, a spokeswoman for the Clark County Coroner’s Office said. She said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.

“I can’t even find the words to say,” Quiet Riot bandmate Frankie Banali said on his Web site. “Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend, Kevin DuBrow.”

Quiet Riot, which was founded in the mid-1970s, topped the Billboard charts in 1983 with the album “Metal Health,” spurred on by the massive hit single “Cum on Feel the Noize.”

The band has since endured break-ups and personnel changes but released a new album in 2006 and continued to tour sporadically.

Sheryl Crow - Detours (Updated Information)

Press Release

Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow will release her sixth studio album, Detours, on February 5, 2008. The album marks the return of producer Bill Bottrell, who previously worked with Crow on her breakthrough debut album Tuesday Night Music Club, which earned the singer three Grammy Awards, and sold more than ten million copies worldwide.

"This is the most honest record I've ever made. It's about being forced to wake up," says Crow. Lyrically the album is the most politically and personally outspoken record of her career, addressing the current state of the world from different perspectives as well as some of the personal challenges she's faced over the last several years. The album, which in the end remains spiritually hopeful, retains the raw freshness of Bottrell's Tuesday Night Music Club-production and subtly pushes the boundaries of her previous work into new musical territories. Track titles include "Shine Over Babylon" (currently available on iTunes, and the centerpiece of the album in Crow's opinion), "Love Is Free," the Arabic-tinged "Peace Be Upon Us," "Lullaby for Wyatt" (from Grace Is Gone, starring John Cusack) and the stark folky album opener "God Bless This Mess." Sheryl can be seen performing tracks from Detours on CNN's "Heroes" on December 6th and on CBS' "A Home for the Holidays" on December 21st.

With over 20 million albums sold worldwide, eight Top 5 singles, and three records that have broken the Top 5 on the Billboard 200, Counting Crows are set to release an expanded deluxe version of their seminal album, AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER (UMe/Geffen), which defined them as one of the most popular and inspiring rock bands of the last 15 years.

AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER, the Crows first album released in 1994, set the standard for the rock style of the mid-nineties and showcased the band as a chart-topping powerhouse. Once MTV aired the video to their top 5 track "Mr. Jones," the album jumped 40 spots on the Billboard Top 200 in one week. Most recently, their single "Accidentally In Love" from the Shrek 2 soundtrack earned them an Oscar(TM), Grammy, and Golden Globe nomination, and reached the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In addition to the original songs on AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER, the deluxe version will include previously unreleased demos plus the entire final show from the August Tour in 1994 from Elysee Montmartre in Paris, France. Also included are liner notes written by lead singer/songwriter, Adam Duritz. On September 18th, the same day the album is set to drop, Counting Crows will perform the record in its entirety at the legendary venue Town Hall in New York City. Tickets for the show go on sale September 7th at 10am local time in all markets.

Following up the deluxe version of AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER, the Crows released their long awaited new album SATURDAY NIGHTS & SUNDAY MORNINGS on November 6th. The record is the Crows' first studio album in almost 5 years, since the release of HARD CANDY in 2002.

Beau Hill Teams With Flynsolo

Press Release

The well-known record producer Beau Hill committed himself to work with music band Flynsolo. Beau Hill teams up with Michael Harmon and David Knight to produce, mix, and master Flynsolo's new release "Addictions" -- an eclectic fusion of Americana, rock, classical, and jazz.

"Beau Hill is well-known among musicians for his knowledge, skill, understanding, and know-how," says David Knight, founder of Flynsolo. "Having Beau on board will help us make our next release 'Addictions' from great to excellent."

"Addictions" will be available for sale on January 20th, 2008.

Beau Hill Brings Plenty of Experience
Beau Hill is best known for his work with Alice Cooper, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Europe. For more than two decades, Beau Hill brings his experience and dedication to the entertainment business in a variety of roles. His experience includes recording artists, co-writing hit singles, record production with sales approaching 50 million units, fronting his own band, and artist management. In addition, Beau Hill was co-founder of Interscope Records; a Universal affiliate.

New Release "Addictions" is Addictive
Flynsolo's new release, "Addictions," brings an all-embracing mix of Americana, rock, classical, and jazz but never strays from the pop music idiom. The lyrical and musical themes are unique yet accessible, and they immediately resonate in the hearts and minds of all who listen. The new album boasts delicate arrangements, velvety textures, anthemic choruses, and flawless performances.

"With this truly addictive CD, we want to cast a gentle light on the problems that comes along with being addicted," explains David Knight. The "Addictions" album is dedicated to people in recovery of any kind of addiction.

Contribution by Prolific Musicians
Flynsolo recruited for "Addictions" an all-star roster of some of the most well-respected and prolific musicians in the music industry. Liberty DeVitto wrote elaborate drum parts for the entire Addictions album.

"We replaced several broken drumheads from DeVitto's powerful and stunning performances," said David Knight. DeVitto is best known as the drummer who Billy Joel chose to work with for more than thirty years. In addition, DeVitto recorded drums on many hit albums and played in live situations with artists, such as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Meat Loaf, Cyndi Lauper, and The Carpenters.

Dr. Mike Deasy, one of the most recorded guitarists in the history of music, presents unique lyrics and melodies on the Addictions album. Deasy's guitar play can be heard on many hit albums from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and beyond. He worked with artists, such as George Harrison, Elvis Presley, Joe Cocker, Elton John, The Beach Boys, Ringo Star, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, and Simon and Garfunkle.

Jay Davidson plays sax, piano, and leslie organ in several Addictions tracks. Jays credits include his work with Whitney Houston, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and Mariah Carey.

Other well-known artists who contributed to the "Addictions" album are Rick May (best known for his work with Depeche Mode, Andy Summers (The Police), and Michael Jackson), Lakieta Bagwell (best known for her work with Dolly Parton), Gerald Veasley (best known for his work with Grover Washington Jr., Miles Davis and Philip Bailey), Grace Little (best known for her work with Philadelphia International Records), and Freddy Villano (best known for his work with Widowmaker and Quiet Riot).

Recording sessions took place in cities from Key West, to Philadelphia, to California, and the distinct sound is the result of myriad collaborations with artists all over the world.

About Flynsolo
The driving forces behind Flynsolo are song writers David Knight and Clifford Hritz. Michael Harmon and David Knight are producing the "Addictions" album, supported by Beau Hill for the remainder of the album. Like Beau Hill, Harmon has an impressive track record. Harmon's credits include his work with several Grammy award-winning and award-nominee singers. The collaboration of talented musicians and record producers with a proven track record guarantees that "Addictions" will rival any major label release.

Rick Springfield - The Early Sound City Sessions

Press Release

After a 24-year sabbatical, Dr. Noah Drake has returned to ABC daytime, and the music of Rick Springfield is about to fill our speakers once again. Sonic Past Music, a new label dedicated to bringing fans previously unreleased albums from their favorite classic artists, has just uncovered Rick Springfield: The Early Sound City Sessions. The CD will be available on November 20 and includes material that set the stage for Springfield's rise as a Pop star.

Recorded in 1977 and '78, the album includes songs that were later re-recorded with studio musicians for his Beautiful Feelings album. But, check this out - Rick Springfield: The Early Sound City Sessions features a bonus track, "Still Got the Magic," which has never been heard before.

Sonic Past Music was formed as an outlet for popular and recognizable artists to make available albums that had been previously un-released on any label. All Sonic Past albums are available only from the Sonic Past Music website (www.sonicpastmusic.com), CDBaby and Amazon.com.

Sonic Past founder, Joey Stec explains, "In today's fractured music industry we don't have to be 19 and mainstream to put out our albums, it's okay to cater to a niche market. These titles are by artists that made their mark primarily on the West Coast in the '70s and '80s. They are my friends, colleagues and family. Collectively we've spent decades together in the studio amassing hundreds of albums'-worth of masters."

Rick Springfield was a triple-threat as actor, musician and teen idol. His role as Dr. Drake on ABC Daytime coincided with the chart-climbing hit "Jessie's Girl" from his album Working Class Dog in 1980. Even as his acting career was taking off in the early '80s, Springfield was first and foremost a musician at heart. The Australian-born artist continued to record after a serious ATV accident in the late '80s and released two albums in the late '90s.

“Rockin’ Away was written in the summer of 2006 for the 30th Anniversary of the release of the first “Boston” record. It was the last song that Brad and I wrote together. In it, Brad reflects on how he became involved in music, and thanks his many fans for their years of loyalty. It was my hope that the song might lead to a rekindling of my relationship with the band. Unfortunately it did not. Brad’s family and I felt that his many fans would appreciate hearing his spectacular voice one more time on a new song. I hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.”-Barry Goudreau

- This song can be purchased by going to discark.com, a sound sample is also available.

Evolution Eden - Sum Of One

Island Report

Evolution Eden have updated their MySpace page with a brand new tune entitled "Sum Of One". This song was mixed by Beau Hill, who recently worked with Bad Side, among others.

"Sum Of One" in our opinion is a turning point track for EE, from the first listen you can hear how the band has grown as a collective unit. This is just a taste of things to come from Evolution Eden as their new album is set to drop in 2008.

The Gibson Robot Guitar

Press Release

Gibson Guitar, the world's premier musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology announced today the limited availability of the world's first guitar with robotic technology, the Gibson Robot Guitar. True to the spirit of innovation that inspired Gibson to invent the legendary Tune-o-matic bridge, the powerful humbucker and the revolutionary HD.6X Pro digital Les Paul guitar, the Gibson Robot Guitar is set to make music industry history.

1. The Gibson Robot Guitar eliminates tuning problems for guitarists. It automatically tunes to standard A440 tuning.

2. It also allows players to access six commonly used altered tuning presets at the push of a button. These tunings were used on many well know hit songs, giving players easy access for the very first time.

3. The Gibson Robot Guitar allows the guitar to be intonated in seconds after string changes, truss rod adjustments or change in weather conditions.

4. Finally, with the locking tuner, single string changes or changing the entire set of strings are an automated breeze.

The system consists of five high technology components which are extremely light and do not change the instrument in any way. A control knob (which also serves at the volume knob) enables the tuning with a simple push or pull. Each tuner is equipped with specialized servo motors. As the motorized tuners adjust the pitch of the strings they are monitored by means of a Tune-Control Bridge.

The world's 1st run limited edition version of Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitars will go on sale at 5 PM on December 7, 2007 at 400 dealers throughout the world. Each store will only have 10 instruments. This highly collectible piece of history will be available in an exclusive Blue Silverburst Les Paul model.

To find the list of exclusive Robot Guitar dealers go to www.gibson.com/robotguitar.

30th Anniversary -Collector's Edition SW Set (Press Release Update)

November.8th.2007 - Thursday

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Star Wars movie, and just in time for Christmas, Sony Classical is releasing a one-time deluxe edition of Williams' lush, timeless themes on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. The Music of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition is housed in an elegant numbered box set featuring new cover art depicting the main Star Wars characters. The box contains eight CDs. Six of these are mastered from the Expanded Edition versions of the soundtracks from three Star Wars episodes:

-- Episode IV - A New Hope (two CDs)
-- Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (two CDs)
-- Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (two CDs)

Each of the above is housed in a gatefold mini-jacket that is a scale reproduction of the original LP cover art. The seventh CD is Star Wars: The Corellian Edition. This is a collection of the most popular Star Wars themes from all six episodes - on one CD, for the first time. The new recording takes its name from the Corellian System, a fictional group of "core worlds" at the heart of the Star Wars galaxy. The 13- track Corellian Edition CD can be purchased separately. (The stand-alone version, housed in a single jewel case, became available in stores October 2, 2007. Its track lists and credits are printed on a newly designed six-panel, fold-out mini-poster.)

The eighth CD in the premium box set is a CD-ROM. Its digital artwork files faithfully reproduce all of the inserts - including gatefolds and posters - that were packaged with the original LP vinyl recordings of the themes from Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI. The Music of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition also includes:

-- an exclusive new 15" x 15" fold-out poster celebrating Episodes IV, V and VI;
-- three collectable 4" x 4" stickers, each featuring a four-color reproduction of the CD cover from the
Expanded Edition soundtrack of one of these episodes;
-- new notes on the history of the first Star Wars soundtrack; and
-- track lists and credits for the CDs.

In 1977, John Williams had just finished serving as music director for Steven Spielberg's breakthrough feature Jaws. Spielberg, impressed with the high level of dramatic tension that Williams' score had imparted to the film, recommended him to another upcoming producer-director, George Lucas, who was hard at work on a project titled Star Wars.

Since then, Williams has composed the music and served as music director for one of the most phenomenally successful franchises in cinema history - the six episodes of Lucas's space-adventure saga, which take place "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." Williams' score for the first Star Wars movie won the Academy Award for 1978, edging out another of his own scores (for Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

As Lucas planned and shot Star Wars "prequels" out of chronological sequence, the first movie was re-titled Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The sixth and final installment, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, opened in May 2005. In an interview with National Public Radio, Williams said he had "never imagined in the 1970s that I'd still be working on the Star Wars project 30 years later."

On the day the channel launches XM will also offer the U.S. premiere of the forthcoming re-issued two-disc soundtrack for the band's landmark concert film "The Song Remains the Same," which features six previously unreleased songs from Led Zeppelin's 1973 Madison Square Garden shows.

XM's U.S. premiere of "The Song Remains the Same" soundtrack reissue will air in its entirety at 12 midnight ET on November 8 with encore broadcasts airing all day to kick off "XM LED." Ringo Starr - Liverpool 8

Press Release

On January 15 (January 14 internationally), Ringo Starr will release Liverpool 8, his first new album with Capitol/EMI since 1974's Goodnight Vienna. Liverpool 8 will be available worldwide on CD and digitally, and the album's title track will debut as a digital single on December 4. Starr will launch the album with a hometown performance on January 12 to commence Liverpool's 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations.

Liverpool 8, also the title of the album's upbeat, vibrant lead track, "refers to the section of Liverpool where I used to live," explains Ringo.

"The song was actually Dave Stewart's idea, as a mini autobiographical travelogue: 'I was a sailor first ... ' and then, 'Liverpool I left you' -- because I did. 'but I never let you down,' which is true."

Although Starr and Stewart have known each other for years, this is the first time they have collaborated. It began when Dave asked Ringo to lay down some drums on a track Stewart had done with George Harrison. "After I did the drums I asked Dave to add some guitars to my album, which Mark Hudson and I were working on at Mark's Whatinthewhathe? Studio in LA. After Mark and I parted ways, Dave and I took over producing the record," Starr said. Then added in his trademark wit, "and that's why the credits say:

Produced by Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson and Over-produced by Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart." Liverpool 8's 12 original tracks were all co-written by Starr and were recorded in England and in California. "The writing of the records is always the same," Ringo explains, "it's the same group of guys and we all sit together and write about what's happening." That "group of guys" who joined Starr on the album's songwriting and recording are (in alphabetical order): Gary Burr, Steve Dudas, Mark Hudson, Sean Hurley, Zac Rae, and Dave Stewart.

Since beginning his career in the 1960s with The Beatles, Ringo Starr has been one of the world's brightest musical luminaries. Starr has enjoyed a successful and dynamic solo career as a singer, songwriter and drummer, an active musical collaborator, and as an actor. Drawing inspiration from classic blues, soul, country, honky-tonk and rock 'n' roll, Starr continues to play an important role in modern music with his solo recording and touring. His last studio album, Choose Love, was released in 2005.

Ringo has said that as time goes on there is more and more of his personality in his music, and the songs on Liverpool 8 feel personal. Starr's candor, wit and soul are evident in the lyrics and the heartbeat of every song; I always followed my heart and I never missed a beat. Peace and love are Ringo Starr's primary life beats, and Liverpool 8 propels this universal message in each of its evocative songs, which are imbued with joy, insight, reflection and wisdom from the music icon the world knows and loves simply as 'Ringo.'

Michelle Branch, Solo Once Again?

Island Report / Artist Release

There's been rumors for a while now that Michelle Branch would turn away from her current "Wreckers" format and go solo once again. Word has come down from Michelle herself via her Official Website Forum that this is in fact the case.

I've started working on the new album a few weeks ago and it's great to have a place where I can come and keep you posted (literally!) I've got a ton of songs already and everything has kinda found it's own sound. I don't know what to call it.
I'll let you guys decide. I'm hoping to let you hear bits and pieces as we get further along.

It's been so long since I've been just plain MB. I'm so excited I can't even tell you.

Rumor has it, I'll be out on the road starting as early as February with the album being released shortly after that. I can't wait to get out and not only play new songs but also play so many old songs I haven't had the chance to play over the last few years.

Thanks for the love and support. Be well.
Michelle

-We'll be discussing this situation on a future Island Cast episode.

Silverchair and EMI dominate Australian ARIA Awards

Press Release

It was certainly Silverchair’s night at this year’s ARIA Awards. Their 5 ARIA Award wins from 5 nominations (and a 6th for Best Video) ensured that not only have they beat the record held by any artist for the most ARIA Awards - at an overall total of 20 - but they have helped to show the strength of the EMI local artist roster, with EMI picking up more ARIA Award wins on the night than all other companies combined.

Not only that, but the awards that Silverchair won – Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Motorola Highest Selling Single - are all amongst the most credible and sought after awards on the night.

With 28 nominations from 16 artists in 26 categories, a very proud John O’Donnell, CEO of EMI Music Australasia said, “It was a great night for EMI and for our partners at Eleven: A Music Company, who bring us Missy Higgins and Silverchair. Silverchair have blazed a bold and brave trail for over a decade and across 5 albums and to see Young Modern hailed as the masterwork that it is, is totally fitting and deserved. Straight Lines is clearly the biggest and most powerful song of the year and Young Modern a work of dazzling genius. All power to the ‘Chair!”

Other artists to steal the limelight were Missy Higgins who picked up Best Female Artist following her stunning performance of Where I Stood; an award she previously won in 2005.

One of the performance highlights of the night came from Operator Please who made their debut TV performance with Just A Song About Ping Pong following their earlier win for Breakthrough Artist – Single, for the same song.

You Am I added the ARIA Award for Best Music DVD to their existing tally of 8 ARIA Awards and Keith Urban added Best Country Album to his tally, an award he has won twice before. The standing ovation Keith received for his guest performance with the John Butler Trio was yet another highlight of the night.

The year’s haul of awards was nicely capped off with Nick Cave’s induction into the Hall of Fame with Nick creating a memorable moment at the podium by inducting his fellow Bad Seeds and Birthday Party members himself, rather than being inducted on his own.

Top Summer Entertainment Options Of 2007

November.1st.2007 - Thursday

Entertainment featuring the nation's top outdoor tours including Ozzfest and Stevie Wonder, combined with great weather and affordable ticket prices proved to be a winning combination for Palace Sports & Entertainment's (PS&E) two outdoor venues, DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival. Both outdoor venues posted numbers which should preserve their status as 2007 top-attended amphitheatres.

The nation's most-attended outdoor venue for 16 consecutive years, DTE Energy Music Theatre hosted 61 events and maintained an average attendance of more than 10,000 guests per show for the 12th year in a row as it attracted more than 634,000 in total attendance.

The amphitheatre enjoyed 15 sold-out shows in 2007 including Eddie Money (May 25); Montgomery Gentry (June 2); Foreigner (June 8); Doobie Bros./Peter Frampton (June 14); Barenaked Ladies (June 15); Creedence Clearwater Revisited (June 16); Ted Nugent (June 22); Tool (July 3); Toby Keith (July 5); Anita Baker (July 21); B.B. King Blues Festival (July 29); Dave Matthews Band (August 23); Ozzfest (August 26); Hinder (September 7) and Aerosmith (September 8).

Meadow Brook Music Festival maintained an average attendance of more than 4,000 for the fifth consecutive year during its 37-show summer of 2007. The intimate amphitheatre and rolling hills played host to such traditional favorites as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (July 28-29 and August 3-5) and the 7th Annual Wine & Food Festival (August 25-26). Other season highlights included three capacity crowds: Lonestar (July 13), Stevie Wonder (September 12) and Dashboard Confessional (September 14). Meadow Brook's total attendance of nearly 150,000 should maintain its annual appearance in Pollstar's Top 100 Amphitheatre Venue's list.

"It was a challenging summer, but we are pleased with how our amphitheatres fared and thankful for the continued patronage by our area's event-goers," said Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment. "By maintaining the quality of guests' experiences, bringing in the top summer tours, keeping ticket prices as low as possible and expanding our marketing reach through technological growth we were able to battle the effects of this area's economic situation and the continual spread of free events and festivals."

Skillet - Comatose Deluxe Edition

Island Report

October 3rd, 2006 saw the release of the Best Album Of The Year (in our opinion) in Comatose by Skillet. Fast-forward to present day, Skillet will be re-releasing this album as a Deluxe Edition but in 2 different forms. On November 20th, Comatose DE will be released as a digital download via iTunes and other legal downloading services. A CD version will then follow on December 26th.

As for new content that is added in, there is one brand new tune "Live Free" which is about the London Bombings. It was originally written during the final stages of the Comatose process and couldn't be added to the first release. There's also 5 Acoustic tunes, 2 of which have already been released in one way or another. New artwork and of course the usual behind the making of the album video have been added to this upcoming edition.
